It gives a decent sound without needing any EQ, so good for beginners. An elastic microphone mount for $10 would get rid of the handling noise. But not what you want if you're singing and as you said, why not spend the money on an SM58 in the first place. My cheap mic of choice is the Superlux PRA D1 for about $35. It's a supercardioid so great for general video making (my main use) where the mic is at a bit more of a distance. But it has bad handling noise so needs an elastic mic mount on a handle or fish pole.

XM8500 is now sold for $14 (and BA 85A is also at that price). I'd definitely go with these Behringer mics whenever there's a chance of mics getting beaten up.

Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB Cardioid same price on Amazon Ca as the Sennheiser $79. I go for the Audio Technica more versitle XLR/USB and better sound to my ears.

A musician friend of mine suggested the XM8500 as my first mic. After I got it, I ordered the Fifine K669D the very next day.

Thank you sir after your video I’m convinced to buy sennheiser xs1 with boom arm. I’ll be using this for streaming so no handling issue

@DCS Again I play through another of your vids and am better informed. It's been done in minutes, not miles long as some/most channels. Thank You! 🤘🏼😎RAWK!!!
    Have an awesome day man!

@DJPLAYNICE yeah I really try to keep them under 10 if I can.
Glad to see people notice that!

I was planning to buy the fifine am8 for 60 bucks but I just saw the presonus dynamic revelator on Amazon for 100 bucks, a huge discount. Is it worth spending more for the Presonus?

Decent sound but for its price point get the sm48 instead.

Bummer, I have an interface from 2010, not much gain in that one. Thanks.

Oh I want to get my hands on some of those older interfaces...I would love to see some from the mid 2000s too

Dear Mr. Dark CS, PLEASE HELP!
I recently found your channel while researching recording (video w/ audio) options for my Open Mic Mood channel.
My question is about recording people performing at Open Mic Nights at local bars. I started this small project as something to do while going through cancer treatment, so I don't have a lot of money to buy gear. I currently just shoot video on an iPhone SE, sometimes on a 2024 iPad Air and other old gear.
The local bars are cool with me recording, but I do NOT have access to any of their audio equip. I try to set up a tripod within 20 feet of the front of the stage. Some bars have better lighting than others. As you point out in many of your videos, good audio is more important than great video.
I got all moist over the Zoom Q8n-4K, but the price would max out all budget and thats before buying SD card, Batteries, or any other stuff needed.
Could you please share some budget friendly options?
PS- currently not streaming. I like shooting video, going home and editing while relaxing. The general order is, record, edit, upload to YT, then cross post the YT link to other social media. So I don't need streaming options at this point.
    THANK YOU!
If you have any questions or just want to talk about your car's extended warranty, hit me up! ;-)

@OpenMicMood not really any great budget options for what you want to do.
Perhaps the XY mics on the Zoom h5...
      You can find them used.
      There will be limitations though.
Gear is expensive for a reason.
Sometimes it's just best to save up
Barring that...do the best you can with what you have.
Poor lighting can only be fixed by....light.
Some cameras have better low light than others...but not by much

@@DarkCornerStudios Thank You very much for the quick reply.
I agree with the "saving up / do the best with what you have" the iPhone and iPad are doing ok for now. None of this is a paid gig, so "ok" is good enough for now.
Thank You again. Love your channel, a lot to take in. Have a great day!
