This game definitely got a bad rep at launch, but I really like it now. It sort of feels more like an all-star celebration for the series rather than a next generation-type game, and that's okay. Hopefully people who like Forgotten Land will go back and try this one for the whole way through (especially since the endgame is very challenging and fun)!
Yeah, I agree. It's definitely stupid that Hal and Nintendo went with the "finish it later" approach with this game. Regardless, I still like this game and it seems like both of them finished Forgotten Land for its launch
We got forgotten land for my daughter's 6th birthday, because we had enjoyed mario odyssey for its co op mode (she's too young to really be able to play games herself, but when she can be cappy, and when you have practically unlimited lives, she still has loads of fun just running around the levels) and someone said forgotten lan had a similar mode. we are haveing a great time, so I might consider this one once we complete forgotten land.
@@Bazookatone1I know that this comment was 5 months ago but playing the forgotten land (or any Kirby game in general) with a six year old sounds like a very bad Idea considering how dark the Kirby games can get. Especially because of the chase sequence right before the final boss.
This game has the best ability mechanics in the series. It's the only one that adds to the Super Star combat system instead of just adding a gimmick that you can only use in specific areas.
Man, this really is Fan Service: the Kirby Game, isn't it? I was literally just thinking about Star Allies when this video went up, so it came as perfect timing to binge.
This game is literally peak of Kirby's fan service. Bringing back several characters from past games, may it from classic or modern Kirby. And top of that, the Lore the game has. It's Lore is warping up the Dark Matter arc that has been going on for more than 17 years, telling the (possibility) origin of Kirby, but also leaving up another questions and path for future games' lore (Like what's the deal with the ancients) People might said Star Allies is weakest Modern Kirby game, but you can't denied the amount of fanservice has toward this game
What a good way to spend Christmas. It was pretty nice watching this, esp the many different combos showcased, especially the bluster/fire combination to melt bosses. Shoutout to P4 for being very commited to Vividria too. I'm not that big into Kirby, but Star Allies was watch and the multitude of abilities and combos is cute to see. Thank you so much for this video.
IKR? Forgotten Land has good level design and theming, but I was let down by its watered-down abilities. Star Allies has flat and bland level design, but at least it has the best ability mechanics in the series.
@@quillion3rdoption Despite a ton of its copy abilities feeling taken out I think that the Mouthful Mode abilities make up for it. They balance each other out. Tbh this is the most fun I've had with the Needle in a Kirby game though ngl. The past games it just sucked overall. Same for the Fire and Tornado abilities. Forgotten Lands really made it better by introducing Volcano Fire or even Dragon Fire. The paying to upgrade abilities system is what I enjoyed most and the minigames such as working in Waddle Dee's cafe. It really brought me back to Super Star Ultra which had a ton of neat fun minigames to play that weren't apart of the actual story!
@@toonzelda3353 I don't mind the low number of abilities, but I wish they at least had wider movesets. The final ability upgrade even proves they didn't have to have simplistic movesets.
@@TheLucaFam IDK, Forgotten Land feels closer in spirit to the Dark Matter Trilogy playstyle, and I much prefer the Super Star playstyle followed by RTDL to Star Allies. Doesn't excuse Star Allies's bland level design, but still.
I'd like to make a small request of BeardBear: do this game again, but throw Friend Hearts at Whispy Woods, King Dedede, and Meta Knight as soon as you beat them. And maybe post it on TH-cam?
See You Soon for Sonic Star Allies, Plus They're Only Playable Characters Like Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Omega, Big, Shadow, Rouge, Cream & Cheese, Espio, Vector, Charmy, Silver, Blaze, Classic Sonic, Mighty, Ray, Sticks & Avatar
I bet in 2018 just after the game released they released videos on that game with the thumbnail/title spoiling who were the final boss & the secret boss ... Why did they put spoilers in their Kirby (and the Forgotten Land) video thumbnails? They could have blurred the spoiler in the thumnail and they could have not stated who's the final or secret boss in the title but no, they didn't. Sorry for the rant. I hate when people spoil games or movies or anything with stuff like that
@@LucienReiuzi To explain it in a much calmer and less toxic way, all Kirby games are made for kids. It's just that since this was the first Kirby game on the switch, Nintendo figured it would be most people's first Kirby game, and as such decided to make it easier. Until Heroes in Another Dimension and Soul Melter EX came out, of course.
I have played some truly awful garbage that makes this game look like Hollow Knight in comparison. I trudged through that main campaign, knowing that the real meat and potatoes was the side content, and I was not disappointed.

@Jacobs Those are individual abilities, but I wouldn't call them additions to the core system.

This game may have the worst level design of the entire series, but it has so much fan service that it sorta balances out.
Worst level design?! I think it’s pretty good
As someone who suffered through Dream Land 3 and Amazing Mirror. . .NAH. HIOD especially has some of the best design in a platformer, period.
