    I'm sorry for the wait on this, but I'm going to make sure I release a video/week from now on.

    Some notes i would like to make: Nobility has the strong duchies edict, which gives +2 relations and reduces liberty desire. Absolutism isnt entirely waisted since it reduces diplo annexation cost and it is hard to get as passivist. Admin ideas gives a policy with influence to further decrease annaxation cost.

    16:20 I'm not sold on taking the admin free policy. To even possibly gain any benefit from this you'd have to fill out 3 idea groups, you don't even unlock the 3rd till tech 10 in about 1530. Then maybe you fill out the idea group in 1535-1550, in this game you took the reform in 1495 that's a solid 40-50 years it did nothing. Not to mention at least 2 of the unlocked policies would have to be in the admin category.
    On the other hand 10% advisor costs could've helped gain more points in all 3 categories by allowing you to afford higher tier advisors, especially when stacked with other sources of reduction such as the estate privileges.
    Unless I'm missing something surely the third reform is the obvious choice?
    Fun video anyway keep up the good work!

    • @Quarbit
      @Quarbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You can also just wait till you complete all reforms to swap to the administrative free policy - it's pretty unlikely you have 2 admin policies before you finish the reforms - especially when playing like you were, your autonomy is gonna be essentially 0 in all full cores, so you will be gaining really fast progress, so you should finish all reforms around 1580 or so, and easily have 20 years of progress to swap your reform later.

    There's one other easy positive opinion modifier you can get when trying to vassalise, based on the list with Ramazan- you can use Transfer Trade Power, with max opinion boost at transfer 50% trade power. Diplomatic TTP doesn't give you a casus belli if they break it, but it's free money (with the only cost being not being able to declare war on somebody transferring to you, with zero truces for breaking it), so it's usually worth it. Steer Trade is only really useful if you've got a trade-strong nation that's going off-course from your trade network.

    Suggestion for making it [more] fun:
    Allow wars, but you may only ever take one non-core province per peace deal. Additionally, you must "fabricate a claim" IRL if you do aim to take a province.
    You may always return cores, release nations, dismantle the HRE and so forth. You may not militarily vassalize anyone.
    I assume Bohemia can tagswitch to Austria? If so, that might work. Influence+Admin for 45% DAR, papal legate for 10%, Bohemian Commonwealth for 15%, Austrian ideas for 15%, Noble integration for 5= 45+10+15+15+5=90% DAR. Would make parliament of interest to cap DAR.

    Why are the Ottomans the big "bad" guys? I guess it is a meme about biases.

    • @Quarbit
      @Quarbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ottomans have OP national ideas, a strong start, the best early game units, and virtually no regional competitors. They also hold a strong trade node and usually take quantity, making them almost unstoppable in the late game for average players

      The 'bad' is from the perspective of when you play as any of its neighbours and need to consider the Ottoman threat when planning your game.
      I think you're taking it too much to heart.

    i said to social streamers ages ago if he could do a challenge where he can only expand thru diplomacy or if people attack him.. he can only gain land from helping allies in wars or peaceful diplomacy or when attacked... so u could never have an army save money - go full economy getting rich cos ud never spend money on military until war came & then u use mercenaries..

    • @whaleofdarkness
      @whaleofdarkness 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I think Laith is the wrong person to ask to expand peacefully. He often starts the most insane wars and gets himself into a coalition regularly... But it works for him and that's why I love his playstyle.

    • @tigrecito48
      @tigrecito48 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whaleofdarkness they need to make the game better for doing things in a peaceful way.. more useful options to win economically.. or maybe stealing stuff with spies... destroying enemies buildings or something... economic strangulation thing is the game is a bit boring if not warring... if they made more things to do whilst not at war, we wouldnt just be playing the same way all the time.. trying to conquer the world gets tiresome after a while... there should be more goals to work towards... just like civ with space race, or conquer world or other types of victory.. also they seriously need to improve rebel stuff cos i find dealing with them a tedious chore.. is there a mod to make it better? you just cant find the provinces they will spawn in when a big nation with those tiny pink lines why cant they make a button that moves the map to where the rebels will spawn so i dont have to keep typing the province name? ive rarely gotten past 1650 cos i get bored with dealing with them.. it becomes like a boring job that im not even getting paid to do
