The WoooOOOooo Guy: Train Driver Performs Inspirational Poem
On board was Tim White who only boarded the train a few stops earlier at Haywards Heath, after the Gatwick Express service he was on got cancelled due to a points failure.
Tim said, "The driver was doing little rhymes at each stop and giving cultural information". Tim remembers him saying something about “this is not Grange Hill” when the train stopped at Burgess Hill and on arrival at Hassocks, that people didn't wear sandals because they "had socks". Tim was expecting him to do something special at Brighton, and he wasn’t disappointed! The train driver recited an inspirational poem as the train arrived into Brighton station on the 8th January 2019.
Tim also looked over to the driver's cab when he left the train, "there was a small crowd of people gathered around, no doubt praising him. The train was moderately full, but most of the people in my carriage didn't seem too moved, at least on the surface" said Tim.
