    I think when I actually apply later in a few years time and I think my choice for the 5th subject would be neuroscience although some do say medicine is easier than neuroscience (I wouldn’t know as I’ve done neither however everyone is different just what I had read from some forums).
    I think most med schools would accept this degree should I fail to get in in future.
    I believe this degree would definitely be relevant to some of the stuff do you experience when it comes to an actual medical degree.
    It also could be beneficial should I chose to go down the anaesthesia or neurosurgery route in future (talking years away yet) who knows but it’s all about the next 3 years for me I’ll decide after that. Good vid

      hey, 3 years later assuming youre close to finishing your neuroscience degree, are you still planning to/have applied for GEM?

    Thanks for another informative video. I'm half way through a Paramedic Science Bsc at the age of 25. Looking to gain experience as a Paramedic before applying to Graduate Medicine, hoping the mixture of the undergrad degree and life experience in care and as a Paramedic will be appealing to med schools 😅

    Hi i am in a very funny situation which has really upset me in life. I believe that i did well at GCSEs in all of my subjects. When it came to A-levels however i began to suffer from severe depression and anxiety and so failed. I thought i would retake knowing i would do well in Chemistry and Biology however i came out with bad grades which was.a D,D. Because of my situation my next best course which I really liked came up which was pharmacy and got accepted into it because the university considered my condition and health. Ive now completed year 1 and have come out with a 1st. Gaining 79% and 75% in another module. I can’t lie I love pharmacy but I’d say if it wasn’t for my health I would have excelled in my a levels and went on to do medicine. Now thinking about it I think that taking a gap year would be great this because I can either decide to retake a levels again for the 3rd time which isn’t the best option but knowing that my health thankfully is better now I can do really good in it. Or I can carry on and finish the 3 years remaining and go onto do Graduate Entry Medicine. What do you think?

      I think in your situation I'd be tempted to say try to complete the pharmacy degree, because at the very least you'll have an exceptional backing even if you later decide medicine isn't for you. Obviously I don't know the details and you may prefer to retake the A levels, but medical schools are not overly forgiving of retaken A levels unless the circumstantial evidence is extremely good - happy to chat further if you need, drop me a message via my website

      Idk know you but I’d say finish your pharmacy course med school is competitive and I’m not too sure but I heard they aren’t nice either when it comes to resits especially for the 3rd time but idk ur circumstances. Do pharmacy and once ur done apply to medicine

    I believe the extra knowledge of (biomedical etc) could help with people who are generalists, but wont help with people who are specialists.

    Thoughts on tailoring an application as an Engineering graduate?

      Talk about your transferrable skills! Systematic approach to problem solving, cycles of quality improvement, working within guidelines to a brief with a toolbox of known parts - all really useful as a doctor (especially a surgeon!)

    Hello mate so my situation is very funny, I’m from Scotland and I’m studying a business management degree, would I be able to get into medicine ? If I take a level chemistry as a business student?

    Just wondering whether you are a part of FoMSF? I'm setting up a society at my uni!

      I'm not I'm afraid! They supported a couple of events we ran at the medical school and donated some advertising gear so always very willing to promote them - sounds like a great society!

    Hello Ollie, do you know anyone who takes a year off to study biology, chemistry and UCAT full time to prepare for Med schools? Thanks

    • @OllieBurtonMed
      @OllieBurtonMed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Abbey! I'm honestly not sure why anyone would need to do that especially, since you don't need biology or chemistry for the UCAT. If you were taking the GAMSAT it might be different but again most people can't take time off just to study for it!

    Hi, What's your thoughts about an undergraduate in a paramedicine degree?

    • @OllieBurtonMed
      @OllieBurtonMed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually a great choice! Just be sure to check that medical schools accept it as a science based degree as not all of them do, so have a think about where you might want to apply

    I have a degree in psychology (BSc) and a Msc degree in mental health studies and I have now decided that I really want to do medicine. However, I did not do bio, chem and/or physics at a level. Do I still have a chance?

      Worse case scenario you just need to redo those at either a college or a distant learning college online.
