helps to seal the worktop cut edges with varnish or similar sealant. Any spills that do get through won't then soak into and expand the worktop Substrate.

You forgot to tell the viewers about the heatproof tape. 👍

You could just get the installation instructions out of the box that would have the cut out sizes all layed out in it instead of messing around sliding the glass top all over the bench.
Also some appliances require a set cut out size to allow clearance.
    Never silicone seal cooktops in

Genuine question... Why shouldn't you silicone it in

I guess it's because the silicone would make it super hard to remove it. You would basically glue the hob to the table top.

Missed out the actual hole cutting, and didn't mention that you might want a laminate or reverse blade to avoid chipping. And reading the instructions might have given you dimensions and clearances.

I'm going this tomorrow. Mine will be going in where an old one is coming out and the cut out needs to be enlarged.

You can also use a track saw, or a skill saw if you feel comfortable

    • @harryhamilton676

Skill saw won’t cut through work tops at a straight line, use a plunge saw

@@mattystyles4683 well that’s the most stupid thing to do if your cutting work tops. A skilly is good for CLS but for work tops use a tracksaw, festool preferably, your clearly a DIYer 😂
