i like the idea of it, but to make it in the league of "vanilla plus" quality it would A: need a unique station i.e a cannery, found in canneries and made with woodworking tools, B: a visual overhaul because those textures... exist, and C: it would need a numbers overhaul as well as removing the minced intermediary. other than that it would make a nice mid game storage method before you unlocked the curing box or level 5 cooking.
Tbh I think this should be a later game storage method as it would require a lot more input that a curing box. Even from a real life perspective, it's a lot easier curing meat than it is canning. I agree with all other points especially point a
if you have a mountain of salt near your base yes .... the amount of salt it consumes force you to use so many calories and take so many risks that is really worthwhile ?
@@francesco5581 Move to Coastal Highway and trade for your salt. Easy enough! If you like, go to Desolation Point and you can scrape salt of the rocks near Hibernia.
very interesting, can open to road to make your own cans with a lot of various things. I think another way was to add glass jars for fermented/boiled food... vacuum packaging also
The idea is somewhat okay, except I don't want preserved animal meat to be carried over in cans, even if cans, salt and cooking oil are tremendous, because those things all weigh you down. The whole procedure requiring a Forge is a major turn off. I rather just live up to the food I can have in the game before the Curing Box and work my way toward being able to build the Curing Box and preserve the meat I want. Salt is tremendous and you just want to keep your food preserved in your base you occasionally travel back to after journeys.

spoilage time - 360days outside and 270days indoor
how does it work for you placing anywhere ???
You should be able to mix in other foods to provide a source of vitamin c with this.
Also it will help with preservation, great
considering rather complex crafts and food weight I feel like curing salt box would be more than enough

This is very cool. Adding ways to pickle meat and veggies when jarring or canning them would be a good extension to the mod.
it's a another good additional food option and I see it also doesn't give off any scent.
