This is a quick review of the new RNS 510 and some of it's features of how the DAB system works!
The RNS 510 Nav & DAB has been a long time coming. It features the brilliant factory navigation with full 7 digit postcode along with the native DAB system. No more need for an aftermarket system.

Hi i just bought a 2011 scirocco is this the same as mine does it have a sub port and i do not see a Volkswagen start up screen is there something faulty?

Hello. I have the RNS 510 but it doesn't have DAB. Is there a differentiation between units? I see from looking through some forums that there is a RNS 510 'PSA' model. Is that the model in this review?

+D. Tudor Hey! It was a Genuine VW Premium BT module. Wouldn't be able to tell you the Part Number as it was so long ago. Would have been the latest one at the time though :)

Can anyone advise me how you can check if the software is upto date on the RNS 510. I have just bought a 2nd VW golf and want to update the software if possible. Thanks .
I thinkt if you hold the Setup button for a while you should end in an extra menu where you can see the current version of your software (SW- No)
I cant find my aux input in my golf V. I have the same radio. Where do i find it and also it says that i have built in BT but cant find. Thank you
Aux inputs are usually right next to your handbrake or in an armrest. If you can't find one then you probably don't have one. In regards to the Bluetooth, if you search via your mobile within the first 30secs then you'll see it.
Did you find it yet? I have the same problem
I spoke to VW this morning about this unit in regards to having it with a new order van and absolutely no-one even knew of it's existance let alone if it could be installed. Is it that new that it's not filtered down to the specs of current vehicles?
Can you see the speed you are currently doing on the GPS like on some other units eg BMW X5 shows the gps calculated speed?

Can this be installed in a 2009 VW Passat Variant 2.0 Tdi Higline DSG?

yes, but you'll need somebody with an ODB writer to tell the cars CAN that this radio is there, so it will provide the proper information.
Simply put it's the reason I've put of buying a VW for the last few years. The RNS510 was fantastic and ticked nearly all the boxes but I could never understand why it didn't have DAB and you were not allowed DAB with the RNS510. I've a simple requirement DAB, SatNav and Bluetooth (with A2DP). After a phonecall to VW commercial, they deny it's existance and the party line is you can't get a Caddy with the RNS510 and dab. Lets try a dealer next :)
Hi, emailed your firm, last week, for a quote on fitting an rns 510 dab,with bluetooth, and reversing camera to a t5.1. But had no reply. Let me know if you can give me a quote pls.

I have latest firmware and maps, if i fit DAB antenna will it show up like this or through mdi?
Only if you have a DAB version. Best bet is to pull out the unit and see if you have the BLACK Fakra at the back, if it does then you have DAB ready to go. If not then you'll need a new unit.

upgrade from rcd 510 to rns 510, reverse camera wont work it worked fine with the rcd 510,
You need to probably code it with the head unit.
Get the VCDS from aliexpress and see some videos online how to use it, access the head unit control module as well as rest of the control modules, check for errors frist, afterwasrs check if the camera is enabled in he can gateway installation list. afterwards enable the camera in the headunit. easy ;)
which firmware is that
I'm not too sure due to the age of the video, possibly 5238. The latest FW at the moment is 6239 (Or something around there). It had V12 mapping and the current one is now V14.
Advanced In-Car Technologies my rns was crashed so i did a new firmware 1xxx and it worked but i lost everything i am now searching for the last firm and last nav for my rns510 any idea's website's
+Issam B For £150+VAT (Plus postage to us and back) we can recover the 510, load the up to date firmware and latest mapping! 1XXX is very old!!
