The lilac "Beauty of Moscow" is NOT a Polish variety!!! Here is what is written about this lilac on the webpage of Iowa State University: "This lilac was developed by Russian hybridizer Leonid Kolesnikov in 1943 when he crossed the lilacs ‘I.V. Michturin’ and ‘Belle de Nancy’. Intended as a tribute to Moscow, its cultivar name ‘Krasavitsa Moskvy’ literally translates to “Beauty of Moscow.” Considered one of the top twenty lilacs today, ‘Beauty of Moscow’ blooms in early to mid-May and exhibits an array of small pink buds that open into large white double flowers. This stunning combination of pink and white synonymously creates a beautiful bouquet effect. In addition, the flower panicles are remarkably abundant and have a long blooming period. As the flowers mature, its exceptional fragrance becomes strikingly stronger."
I have a ‘Beauty of Moscow’ and I absolutely adore it. The colour change from dusty rose buds to cream white double is exquisite. The fragrance is far more subtle than in common lilac. I give this lilac a 10 !
I wish that I had found your video. Ive been researching and buying a few lilacs this year and you showed some great examples. I decided not to try a president Lincoln but after seeing those variegated leaves, now im tempted 🌿
Your varigated leaf isn't a president Lincoln though. It's a Varigated lavender french hybrid lilac. The flowers are almost identical though. Im happy to be introduced to it. Very unique
I have the Bloomerang and it blooms all throughout Spring to Summer and into Fall.
I've worked at a local plant nursery since I was a kid I love when all our lilacs are in bloom
Your lilacs are just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing them.
