      There is a difference between being attracted to the same sex and having homosexual intercourse. It’s not about denying love. It’s about denying sodomy and the possible health risks involved. Because Islam is about prevention before cure. Nobody is compelled to join the faith if they don’t like that. One love, everyone’s free. Cheers!

    But I as a lesbian, couldn't have a girlfriend if I converted. So I'd have to pretend to be straight for the rest of my life and that's not something I could do. The idea of marrying a man is just uncomfortable. I'd have to give up my LGBT identity to convert, so in reality, I'm not welcome because I would have to put aside a large part of me. That's why people think it's discriminatory, because we can't control who we're attracted to, and asking us to put that aside feels very dehumanizing. The Quran says to the people of lut ,,Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people." Quran 7:81. This is clear proof that homosexuality is a sin and only transgressors act upon it. And before you come with the argument that the word "lust" could also be translated into "rарe" instead then translate it like that and read the aya again. Do you honestly think that only rарing men instead of women is haram but rарing women isn't? And Mohammad (saw) said that men who intimidate women and women who intimidate men are cursed. And in the Qur’an it says that the Man isn't like the Woman. So this also debunks the argument that a woman can be born into a man's body because a man and woman can't be the same and they are always separate. There is no doubt whatsoever that the LGBT is a major sin in islam and whoever practice it is a transgressor.

    as a revert this is what i believe, sexual desires outside marriage between a man and a woman are what the quraan calls “lusts,” and giving in to them is sin, this includes premarital s*x, extramarital s*x, giving in to impure s*xual thoughts and practicing homosexuality, societies, cultures and norms are continuously changing and evolving, but god and his word remain unchanged, what was immoral by god’s standards then has not become moral today just because the majority tolerates and accepts it, we are fortunate in this day and age that human rights and freedoms have been in focus, clamping down on oppression, abuse and injustice, every person has the right to choose their own faith, outlook on life and way of life, and that must be respected, however, if we want to live as believing muslims, god’s word cannot be ignored, the quraan gives us many promises, but also conditions, for a good and happy life, god is our creator, and it is only his will, as expressed in the quraan, that is unchanging and perfect in time and eternity, all people meet trials and difficulties in life, both in their physical circumstances and in their spiritual life, not living according to one’s innate homosexual orientation can require a huge sacrifice but god blesses those who live wholly for him, nobody who has truly given up everything to serve god will regret it, he only wants the best for us.

    It’s great that gay people CAN convert, but it seems like by not allowing people to marry whoever they love, Islam alienates many people who might otherwise embrace the religion. Why is love punishable, when it hurts no one and actually produces happiness and joy? Genuine question here, not rhetorical.

    • @taintedsorrow6742
      @taintedsorrow6742 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because we live by His laws, not to please ourselves but to please Him. That's why sins are tempting since they give us joy. If sins aren't fun, everyone in this word are free of sins and there's no point in Him making Hell. He purposely makes you poor, makes you sick makes you feel attracted to same gender. You feel those ways because He allows you to. Simply because He wants to test your strength and patience in battling urges and desires, and testing whether you're qualified for His Heaven. To you it's love to Him it's something He put boundaries to, hence he'll punish you in Hell for crossing those boundaries. I have friends that feel attracted to the same gender, and I can't hate them for it since that's God's challenge for them. No one said you can't be gay in Heaven though ;) So yeah the world is temporary, but in heaven we can do anything we want and love however we want. Our goal should always be chasing eternal happiness instead of the temporary ones.

      Im not a muslim myself, but speaking on everything i know - theres really no answer, because it depends on yourself. On how YOU see islam. However, there are also the rules. It just depends on how your inner self see on them and the Quran. It reminds me of muslims who listen to music, drink, curse, even things like zodiac sigjs (its astrologocy) and use makeup - theyre all still muslims, right? But that is up to them, and what they believe, because they might see things differently.
      Then there is people who believe that you should do whats best for Allah, because Allah knows best about you and whats good for you. Being gay isnt haram, but the s!xual activities is. Which means, you can limit yourself to be your best yourself because Allah is testing you.
      My point is, in the end, it is how you see it personally. You might believe (now I am not sure if you believe in Allah since it is just a question) "Allah created me this way, and i should not change it since it does no harm to others or myself (like tattoos plastic surgery for eg)" then that is up to you! Or if you think "Allah made me this way, it is a gift but my actions should still lead me to the right way becase God knows me best" then that is up to you! You have free will

Sodom and Gomorrah along with the cities of Admah, Zeboiim, and Zoar (Bela) constituted the five “cities of the plain,” and they are referenced throughout both the Old and New Testament and the Qurʾān.

      In Islam we believe this life is a test for the hereafter. The feeling for being LGBT is a test. Even if men have feeling for a women before mariage also a test. If we commit sin, we can ask for repentance until we die.
      And in my opinion if someone wanna change their faith. It is because he/she found the truth in that religion not as a gateaway to do what they love to do or to hope the community accept what she/he doing. As example, if a men drink alchohol and choose to change his religion because other religion accept it, i believe it is a fault. Searching for a religion is not searching for what suit our desire but search for a true God and follow the guidance.

    • @thenamescara64

      I personally do not agree with this at all, but in Islam you would still be seen as a woman. So if you were attracted to men I guess that would make you a ‘straight woman’. It’s a tricky one really, because for you to live a happy and comfortable life you would be sinning, which doesn’t make sense to me but anyway. If you’re interested in Islam but don’t want to commit to converting fully, I would say just try to follow muslim morals, so for example I think they donate 2.5% of their income to charity (don’t quote me on that I’m not too sure) which is really good to do obviously. That’s what I do with Christianity, I follow the parts that I agree with and ignore the homophobic parts that I don’t like. At first, I was really confused because I experienced a lot of transphobia when I asked questions about LGBTQ Muslims, and I thought, “wow, I’ll never be welcomed as a queer muslim, I guess I have to chose one or the other”. I thought I would have to chose to either be/look like my birth gender and not seek gender affirming medicine to be Muslim, or that I could seek that gender affirming care, but never really be welcomed in the Muslim community, that I couldn’t do both at the same time since so many people told me being LGBTQ is haram. But that’s not true at all. I knew I was non-binary long before I converted to Islam and I’m still non-binary now. Allah guided me to Him knowing full well who I already was. My gender, my sexuality, is between me and Allah only. I still present and look very much like my birth gender, and I typically follow the etiquette/rules surrounding my birth gender, because that’s what’s most comfortable for me at the present moment, but I’m still non-binary. LGBTQ Muslims exist, our existence is not haram, and we are just as important as cis Muslims.

I’m a gay Christian and there are many people (and denominations within Christianity) that have differences in opinion on this subject. “Welcoming but not affirming” means you can “believe” in whatever you want - but you are accountable to your choices. You can be LGBTQ, but acting upon it is between you and God.
    For me personally, I feel that God created us in his image.. this includes all walks of life. And more specifically as I’m Presbyterian- it is also a denomination in Christianity that accepts LGBTQ people. Do what you feel is right and what God would accept. 😊

      I could be wrong, but as far as I understand, being trans is not a sin in Islam, altering your body is (elective plastic surgery, tattoos, etc). So being nonbinary would not be a sin. Culturally, there are Muslim folks that look down on it, but that does not make it a sin. I my coworker is trans and Muslim and this was thier take on it.

    • @maeeshalt
      @maeeshalt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      pronoun is a very cultural thing. lot of languages only have gender neutral pronouns. so this is very micro part of a big thing. which is why you prefer that certain pronoun. is it purely comfort? or is it part of your gender identity? is the gender identity a slippery slope towards physically transitioning? because unnecessary body modification is a sin. other than that just preferring a certain pronoun isnt anything bad. as pronoun awareness is growing this becomes of a common question so in my opinion its very much about asking what is the intention behind it. and if Allah would permit that knowing the Holy books and it's knowledge. if the answer is yes then go for it.
      also want to add that the thing is with scholars there is change of having prejudice towards neutral pronoun usage like most older gen does. also the connection of gender identity and pronoun makes them automatically dismiss it as part of probable sinful things. so its a question about asking yourself and understanding your inner intention.

And I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge for her in You and [for] her descendants from Satan, the expelled [from the mercy of Allah].”
      -Qur’an 3:36

      In Islam your feelings aren't held accountable. If you are muslim and you choose to be gay, openly or privately, that's your choice. And that relationship and that effects of that choice and outcomes are not for other muslims to guess or to even judge . That is only between the person and God. The Qur'an and sunnah clearly says it's a sin: yes the feelings are natural. We are not denying it. But as muslims we believe the earth is a test, and that having these kinds of desires is a kind of test : that you do not act upon them. But even if you do , other muslims have no right to judge you as that's god's job. However, the line is drawn when LGBTQ people announce this as the only right way and start to preach this as right and force people to accept it. That's where the Sharia says no. Hope this answered your question, and I apologise if I offended you , I wanted to be respectful but also quite clear on the point !

    I have seen many people in the comments talking about the prohibition of a person being gay and Muslim, but the truth is not like that... it's true that once you believe in the existence of allah and believe that the Prophet Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, is the Messenger of God, you become a Muslim, but of course after that you must follow what came in Islam and what God commanded us to do, and we move away from what He warned us about. Among the things that God warned us about is homosexuality. It is not permissible for you to be from the gay community and you are a Muslim, because that is one of the taboos that will keep you away from entering Paradise in the Hereafter Which will ruin your life and the lives of those around you and of course God kept us away from such things for reasons and because he knows that there is no good in such things. ... I hope the idea is clear.

    The whole point is that this dunya is temporary, and we work for the afterlife. So it’s okay to have thoughts concerning same sex attraction but acting upon your desires (like getting in a lgbtq relationship) is a sin. It’s hard, but think about your reward in the end. And when we say we respect LGBTQ people we mean that as human beings we treat them as well as any other straight person. We just don’t support (but doesn’t mean that we go around shouting at them or treating them terribly) their actions as its against our religion.

And if you are still having those desires or evil intentions, say "Aaoothu billahi min Asshaytan Arrajim" Make lots of duaa for ease and for these thoughts to go away. and probably get married (a 100% halal marriage) (no same gender crp) so that way u can focus on ur spouse rather than those desires.

    I think there is some confusion of requirements to convert vs. rules to follow. I used to think to be Muslim meant you had to wear hijab, not eat pork, pray 5 or however many times a day, etc. But after watching videos from you, NinjaMommy, and others, I’ve realized that you can be Muslim and still do all those things, it’s just discouraged and against teachings.

      The 5 pillars of Islam gotta be followed.
      1) 5 daily prayers, 2) fasting in Ramadan, 3) Shahada (believing in One God), 4) Zakat (Charity) 5) Pilgrimage to Mecca (Only if u can afford it).
      U gotta remember being Muslim isn't a label that is undefined. It is supported through action and belief. U cannot go around calling urself one when u do not practice any of it, that would be fake.
      Regarding ur points:
      U can't eat pork, u can wear hijab if u feel comfortable with it on (where I live u can get assaulted so I don't wear it yet), and praying 5 times a day r ur minimum mandatory prayers, cuz it is a literal pillar of Islam.
      It is a lifestyle not just a belief, both make a Muslim. U cannot negate things that don't suit u becuz ur lazy to put in the effort. The reason ppl convert and are Muslim is to believe in the concept of it as well as it in practice, otherwise why bother.

    • @steggiec

      @@haketyu7891 I understand that, but I was saying if you do something against the teachings, that doesn’t mean you’re automatically not Muslim or not Muslim anymore. Murder is a sin, but if someone murders someone, they’re not automatically no longer Christian. That’s bad, they should seek forgiveness, and they really shouldn’t do it again, but it doesn’t kick them out of the faith. Christianity is made up of all sinners.

      Well, in Islam, we don't believe every natural instinct should be followed. Like, I'm a woman, and I sometimes have desires for other men. But I shouldn't go and sleep with someone or even do something less unless I marry someone. Same for men. It's very natural to want to have intimacy but Islam is a way of life, of controlling your desire and not them controlling you. Desires are a test before anything. Allah doesn't want us to live sad, that's why many if not most desires are okay to be fulfilled... But some are just prohibited and that's the way it is.
      Now, Allah knows we're humans. He knows we make mistake. I'm personally from the opinion that if someone is attracted to the same sex and doesn't go around saying it or sleep with them, it's completely okay. If they do some things in private, it's a big sin but we all sin. My problem is with LGBT Muslims who go around proudly saying they've sinned. I think they should stop. I have my own sins and I don't go around being proud of them.

      Islam allows you to be (that is, to feel) lgbt, whatever you might be: homosexual, pansexual, trans... But you cannot act upon that or publicly identify as it. If you feel attraction towards your same sex, that is okay since you dont get sin for the things you cannot control, such as your dreams and your feelings, but you can never be in a relationship with someone of your same gender. If you are trans, it is okay to have disphoria and to feel the way you feel, but you CANT transition because that is such a huge sin in Islam, the type of sin that takes you straight to Jahannam (Hell), and you cannot publicly identify as trans, nor wear the opposite gender's clothes. You can absolutely revert to Islam if you are lgbt, and there is no sin for feeling in certain way, but you can't at all act upon your feelings or identify with them, because doing so would be an immense sin. And you cant support lgbt people either, because supporting them would be encouraging them to follow their impulses and commit sinful acts, so you would receive the same punishment as them

    salam alaykum, this is my take on this subject. i am not a scholar and my thoughts are in no way "final" or "justified" compared to the direct word of Allah swt, i am still learning and inshAllah I will be guided towards the right way of thinking if my opinions are faulty.
    having romantic feelings towards people of your same gender is not unnatural or made up, or else it would not be referenced in the Quran. it is very real and a normal feeling. it is not some kind of phase or disease to feel this way. however, it is an impure kind of love in most cases. what i've noticed is most gay relationships are driven by lust towards each other rather than by partnered connection between two souls that will bring you closer to Allah and make you realize His blessings every moment you're with the other person. being in a gay relationship (at least in today's age and culture) brings you away from your sense of spirituality and opens doors to other foul behavior. it was this way in the times mentioned in the Quran as well. Allah swt knows us more than we do. He is closer to us than our jugular vein (50:16) however wholesome and pure our relationship with another individual of the same sex we think is, Allah swt has told us that it will only bring you bad things in the end and lead you down a path you dont want. even if you think you feel happy right now, how will you feel on the Day of Judgement? is this relationship something that will benefit you even when your spouse is no longer with you on judgement day? when you are all alone under the spotlight of Allah swt? did they aid your personal developement? or did they just quench your worldy thirst? these are things you must think through before deciding if your relationship is halal or not (regardless of it being gay or not). in my opinion, nobody can tell a gay person that they are sinning or that they will go to hell. i think that a gay person has to build up their imaan first, by becoming a Muslim inshAllah and studying the religion. if they do this and if they really want an answer, Allah swt will hear the pain in your heart and help you understand why everything is. we are all His creation. no matter your past, He will always be there to help you. So if youre a gay person who's taken interest in Islam, I hope that you choose to learn about our beautiful religion and participate in our practices. believe in Allah the Almighty, and He will show you the answers and open your heart InshAllah.
    Good luck on your journey

      I would agree with your statement but the part of gay people of being lustful is a stereotype that has harmed the community in the past. For example, during the 1980s USA, many religious groups tried to pin the AIDS crisis on gay people as they are inherently more lustful (in their own heads). However, it was actually straight people who spread it to each other with sex and other subtle ways such as blood transfusions or breastfeeding. If the case that the one of the things against the community is of lust, then it really isn’t ethical to reinforce a harmful stereotype that already has been wrongfully passed on to the community from previous history. We must also realize that the ones that we see necessarily doesn’t dictate about what a group of people is as a whole. For example, the description that all Muslims are Talibans is what the media has blown out of proportion and what many people seem to perceive, but in real life it couldn’t be further from the truth. In the same way, we shouldn’t repeat harmful stereotypes of any community.

    Okay but. Correct me if I'm wrong. But if you're muslim you believe that being gay, or at the very least "acting on gay feelings" is wrong. That is inherently discriminatory. Speaking from my own experience as a gay person, I would not be happy if every time I felt attraction to men I had to say to myself, "Can't act on that, it's not allowed." It's suppressing a very large part of myself that I cannot change or control. It would mean I don't have the basic right to love someone in the way that straight people can and do all the time. And I'm not trying to say Islam is the only religion that does this. If you think about homophobia, often times the stereotype is very religious christian parents telling their gay child they're not allowed to be in a happy loving relationship. But obviously, not all religious people are homophobic. This might be a bit of a weird question, and I am trying to ask this as respectfully as I can, but is it common for muslims to, for lack of a better term, ignore parts of the Quran in the same way that christians don't follow the bible exactly? Like, more following the general idea of being charitable, kind, modest, etc rather than following every single command word for word? I know you guys can't speak for all muslims, but I'm trying to get some sort of sense of like, the average, if that makes any sense at all.

    • @Roxy52853
      @Roxy52853 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, generally speaking that is the case, though it doesn't make it right. For example, in my country, the majority of the population is Muslim. However, most people you meet on the streets do not wear a hijab or niqab, even though in Islam it's mandatory. Most people also have sex before marriage and drink alcohol as well (again, all of which are basically sinful) Most of it boils down to people being people, as in they're not perfect (none of us are) and just choosing to ignore certain things Islam prescribes out of inconvenience. The point of Islam really is, if you genuinely believe that God is one, that He sent out multiple prophets to guide people, that there is an afterlife, etc. and if you truly see this to be true, with that you understand that everything in this life is temporary as well as a test (for some it's extreme poverty, for others it's disabilities, perhaps famine, war, death etc.) and the harder and more difficult the hardship, the greater the reward basically. But to answer your question, yeah, there are a lot of muslims that don't really follow Islam word for word, the only difference being is that, with Islam, people don't get to say something is allowed when it isn't, considering that for over 1400 years not a single word from the Quran has been altered, so that which is clearly forbidden stays forbidden, whether people agree with it or not. Hope I answered your question at least somewhat! :)
