As Shirley's son I can appreciate the vibe as it transports my mind to that very special time in history. I listen and smile in peaceful reverence. Thank you.
A real stepper groove all the Dee-Jays used to play including myself as Killer Joe at El Matador in 1973-77 on 75st and Wabash which now the 50 yard line club today. Take notes on this track young players of music. Husband & Wife team putting it on down to a super classic jazz hot track Joe Dunmore of Monee IL
This will forever be a classic it represents the artistry of two of the best Stan and Shirley and growing up around stuff like this kept me in a jazz vibe that will last forever and as for stepping to this cut and h hell yeah 👊🏽🎵🎶 anyway that being said everybody love a lover baby 🦅I’m out.
From a young child listening to my parents LPs , to many decades later, this beautiful song has always stayed in mind and always will. It is timeless. It always stops me in my tracks because it is .......true love.
Elegance, soft beauty, respect, and the joy of loving that significant other. These are some of the qualities that listening to 'Shirley' evokes in me.
I have a lot of Shirley Scott's LP's - but this is the one I really felled in love with. Listen to her " Hip Knee's and Legs" - That is also a nice jam!!!!
One note and you know who its is. What an amazing sound. Truly one of the unsung giants of Tenor Saxophone, Thx fer sharing. I had not heard this version before. and it's quiet different from the MR Natural BlueNote Album version?
Deliciously ....this grooved my soul to maturation. Made it clear that any and all communication between the opposite sex should always mirror this exchange.
This was a track played by top Dee-Jay Killer Joe in Chicago for many years at the EL Matador Club on 75st & Wabash and The Packing House on Wabash Ave & 50th Street South Side Ball Room It would set the party for stepping on that night. Dunmore Music of Monee IL.
I used to play this to death. But where is "The Lamp is Low". This is from the Everybody Loves a Love album and I have looked high and low for it. Everyone had that album, including me but I have no idea where it is now! But this is great too. Saw her play at Lurleans in Chicago in the 70s. Beautiful organist, wonderful Sax man and married to each other. I know they made mad music! LOL RIP to both of them. :)
Amazing feel. Our quartet will be playing this. Is this the actual title of tune, that Stanley Turrentine is playing? Or is it a track from the album, "Everybody Loves A Lover"? PLEASE clarify. Love the combination of Stanley & Shirley Scott. This is in minor. The tune, Everybody Loves A Lover was done by Doris Day. Many thx for clarifying. FJ

This is the jam!!!! Still being played at steppers' sets, to this day...
My Mom played this often. We grew up to this song! I loved it then and at 61 love it still.
I love it also. I first heard her as a junior in High School, 1964. Love "Gravy Waltz." Mr. Blue Note was a bad man, but this was his best lick.
This song is so dear to my heart ❤️
Shirley and Stanley is an iconic pair.. like Pres and Lady Day. Perfection that slides right into your heart. Your guts. You feel it. Yeah perfect.
