@@aono335 Forwars caste r not downtrodden. Financial weakness is not underprivileged position. Becauase our country provide free food, education, healthcare - so anyone can easily fight poverty. Down trodden ness only created by systemic discrimination, because of someone's identity. Had she been a dalit or backward girl she won't be given chance to participate. The organizers, promoters, judges - all from forward caste - they discriminate on the basis of caste in every step.

@ yes I agree with you on that, caste based discrimination is very real in india, but my point was as per her interviews she said she came from economically very poor background, she said she left for Mumbai at an age of 14 and did all those small jobs to support herself and her education in Mumbai. If that's really a true struggle story then I appreciate that, but yes caste based privileges and discrimination exists in India, it would not have been easier for a lower caste poor girl.

For example I live in Europe in a relatively decent apartment, im an engineer for big tech and my next door neighbor is a waiter in the neighborhood restaurant. There is significant difference in our income level but our children go to the same public school which is free and offers high quality education, neither his children are denied opportunities based on who he is and where he comes from and neither are mine. That is a society without a class divide. Since university is free his children can become doctors/ engineers/ pageant winners or anything they want to. It would not make news here simply because nobody is denied opportunities in a society without a big class divide.
