    That looks like a nice unit. Have seen their ads for years. Thanks for the thorough demonstration. I would definitely consider one of these.

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! I had seen their ads for years as well, and finally got one. Definitely works great for our property. You must have some acreage as well!

    I have used a smaller model while working landscape maintenance, It is a great unit, with lots of power and versatility. I have a cutter for the back of my tractor for my farm in Belgrade now, perfect tool for the job. One thing I have found from my experience is because of how cumbersome they are and can be slow when we had to clear ditches and the like, we would use our string trimmers. With the right technique and good high-quality trimmer line, with the proper shape, they wee almost always the perfect tool for the job.

      Great to hear you have a tractor over at the farm in Belgrade with one. I agree, those are perfect for clearing larger areas! My folks have one at their farm and use it all the time. And trimmers are great too. I'm curious to see how the blade attachments work on string trimmers as well. I've seen the conversion kits where you can basically put a circular saw blade on the trimmer which would be cool for real thick weeds. Haven't tried one though! Hope you are having a great weekend!

    My dad has had a 17 hp/ 30” model for over a decade, and it served him well on his property. It worked good for all the places that weren’t safe for a tractor, as well as open fields. Late last year, I got an XL30 for my birthday. (Big investment!) It works great on the hills and weird terrain that is on our farm. It will give you a workout too! My wife has been excited that I can finally get some of the more visible areas cleared up and give our home, as well as the in-laws home better curb appeal. It gives approximately a 4 inch cut which is easy to follow up with a regular lawn mower or weed wacker. I agree about the need for a defined gear selector. It can be a little dicey in thick brush on steep hillsides. Great video! I put a cheap Amazon hour meter on mine for about $14.

      That’s awesome you bought one for your birthday and that your dad’s has served him well! That will be nice to get that grass cut at your home, my wife was excited to get ours as well. Good tip on the hour meter! I just figured it was a custom size so ordered the more expensive hour meter from their site, but getting a standard fit one on Amazon is what I’d have done if I’d known! Cheers!

      Yeah I found the same when I was researching as well! This has honestly been a really good size for our property, and plenty of power! Holler if you have any questions on it that weren't answered in the video. Cheers!

    We have this same unit. We have 4.3 acres. We have lawn around house so lawnmower for that. The brush we cut has turned into natural grass. It was great to get in around our abundance of Spruce trees to help them grow. Only issue was going in and under branches. It dislodged the oil cap serveral times. Wish it locked better as the oil came spewing out before we noticed. Good luck as we love this machine.

    • @DIYPETE
      @DIYPETE  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Thanks for sharing about how you've used your brush cutter to help out around your property. Glad to hear it has worked well overall! I saw a few others talk about the oil cap. I haven't had that issue yet, but will keep it in mind! My power steering handles had the bolts wiggle loose though, looked like there was loctite, but they vibrated loose after a couple hours of use. So I put in a couple spare bolts i had in the shop and haven't had an issue since. I wonder if you might be able to find a different seal or gasket that could go in if the problem continues to persist to perhaps tighten the connection when screwed down? Hope all is well!

    I lucked out and got a ventrac at an auction I would not give it up for anything I have the brush cutter I have a finishing deck a broom in the vacuum I cannot think of what the other attachments called but it cuts out the side of it like a sickle but I do believe the MSRP on your models probably a little better mine

    If I wasn't using that part of the property, I'd probably leave it for the birds and insects. It would save me a job. I'm not a big fan of all grass yards. So for me it wouldn't be worth the investment. Maybe just cut the brush around the area you want to sled. I agree for making paths through rough areas is pretty good though.

    • @DIYPETE
      @DIYPETE  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Definitely! I totally get other ways of using the property and keeping it natural as well. A big part of doing this was to get down to the bottom of the property to clean up garbage and rocks. And also to start the weed mitigation process. We may end up letting certain areas grow back though and bringing back some more deer and bird habitat. Thanks for chiming in and have a great weekend!

      @@DIYPETE I picked it because of all the other implements I can add to it later.

    • @DIYPETE
      @DIYPETE  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's awesome. Will be nice to use the same motor for other implements! I know the version of the brand I got will do a snowblower, woodchipper, plow blade, and finish mower. A wood chipper is definitely appealing to me to clear out old dead trees easily, so may look into that at some point. Have fun clearing brush this fall and if you get any implements that you really like you'll have to let me know about it! Cheers
