Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse is basically Disney Megaman. Top notch. But to correct you, Magical quest 1 had suits as well. Fireman, Mountain Climber, Mage/Sultan.
We did get the Japan-only Mickey & Donald game on GBA here in the west, where it was called "Disney's Magical Quest 3 Starring Mickey & Donald", when Capcom was porting SNES games to the GBA in the early 2000's. Same goes for Mega Man & Bass, as it also was a Japan-only SNES game that got a GBA port in the west, though it is very difficult to play due to lack of screen, so you have to deal with a ton of off-screen enemies. Also, Fun Fact: Mega Man & Bass on the SNES, or as it is known in Japan as RockMan & Forte on the Super Famicom, was released in 1998, two years after Mega Man 8 on PS1, and also takes place after 8. EDIT: I did notice you forgot two Capcom published games, by the way, being Super Buster Bros and Wizardry V: Heart of the Maelstrom.
You said UN Squadron didn't get a sequel. It didn't for the SNES, but there is one for the arcades in case you didn't know. It's called Carrier Air Wing.
It's not like a sequel-sequel, since the first is based on Area 88, but, yeah, it basically is the successor game. If you like Un Squadron (which I do!), then Carrier Airwing is right up anyones alley, It's too bad it never hit SNES.
Eye of the Beholder deserves a higher ranking. It is a very good game though the U.I. takes some getting used to. If you like that style of game don't be afraid to give it a shot. Maaan, there's so much good stuff here. The Final Fights, King of Dragons, Knights of The Round, Mega Man X, Demon's Crest, Magic Sword, just to name a few. These are my kinds of games.
Eye of the Beholder, played on a PC, with a mouse and keyboard, was really darn good for its time! The SNES port suffered from the game being designed around PC controls. edit - Final Fight! Where else can you play as ripped Freddy Mercury?
15:32 X2 & X3 has improved graphics having CX4 chip , new X moves and eXcellent SNES music achieving new ways to experience gameplay, eXcellent controls, new security features / anti-bootleging "back-up" copy prevention to floppy discs; anyone can enjoy it, obviously cannot be below A tier. 18:24 SSF2 4 new characters with unique moves, best version of this game on any platform of its generation, better sounds than Genesis for sure cannot be below A. SSF2 technically had a better version on the 3DO. It was the turbo version with Akuma and supers. Though most ppl didn't have a 3DO and it didn't come with 6 button controls by default AFAIK.
@@nycxtile its better alright, with all the bells and whistles, however it is TURBO or X version, it is similar not the same, if SSF2 is a shiba inu SSF2 X is akita inu bothe are dogs. Therefore the SNES / SFC version is the superior product of its kind.
Lot of replay value like trying to beat Apocalypses stage with each character. Sure, some stages are short but it’s a solid game and a lot of fun to speed run
Final Fight was an awesome game on the SNES. It gets a lot of hate, but I personally give it an A+ or even an S. Not perfect, but still pretty darn good. And the soundtrack is one of the best on the system. The sequels don't compare to it.
Capcom’s Aladdin has such a great flow to it. It’s smooth and rhythmic, and you can really get into a groove when you play. Not only is it a surprisingly unique take on the platforming genre, but it’s… FUN to play. The genesis game, as much as I really want to like it, just feels so much slower and methodical. It’s very stop and go and just feels like a chore to get through. Beautiful as it is, I just don’t find it very enjoyable. The only argument I ever hear in its favor is that “IT HAS A SWORD!”, which sounds like a parody of a real argument in terms of gameplay. That said I do want to like the genesis Aladdin (I did spend money on it), any pointers would be appreciated.
I can’t give you any pointers, but I can say that I totally relate to what you’re saying. I think the Sega version is much harder, and I still have only got a few levels into it. Everything you just said is spot-on.
Most movie-based games in the 90's were mediocre, at best, and have aged like milk. SNES Aladdin is among the few gems in this category. The visuals, the music, smooth controls. I think the challenge is just right, too. Not too hard, although casual gamers may run into some obstacles in the later levels... but if it were too easy no one would play it... lol
Love the channel,Mr Riggs, just wanted to point out that in Canada at least, Bonkers was on daily(weekdays) in the Disney Afternoon block for about 2-3 years there. So not just Saturday mornings here ,anyways. The more you know. Keep up the great work
Pretty much agree with most except for Breath of Fire 1 and 2. These 2 games do not get enough attention for people who enjoy JRPGS especially BoF2, they are always overshadowed by others like Final Fantasy games which i also love lol. I know everyones taste is different but man that series did a number on me as a kid and as an adult, perhaps people aren't seeing what diehard fans of the series are seeing. They arent perfect because some in the series should be longer and feels like it ends suddenly but they belong in S tier with the Mega Man X games in my books :)
I haven't seen a new RANKED SNES games video in a long time. Thank you, Riggs. Your RANKED marathon compilations are my go-to videos to be entertained and fall asleep to. 😊
Knights of the Round is my favorite Beat 'em up on the SNES. As for Aladdin like you said both great games but I'm on Team SNES with it. Team Genesis all day with X-Men and X-Men 2: Clone Wars.
Another quality video, Mr. Riggs. Immediately brought up memories of play sessions on my families old console TV (you know the kind I am talking about, ones that seemed to be carved directly out of a petrified redwood tree, and weighed about 15 tons). My thumb even had a ghost twinge from the though of relentlessly attempting Zangief's spinning piledriver, over and over again, on the SNES D-Pad.
It’s funny, usually when I watch ‘video-game related content’ on YT, I tend to go for things that are more like in-depth analysis, breaking things down, pros and cons, story (where applicable) and so forth. Not sure if it’s just bc you were covering so many games, but I really dug the laid-back, ‘quickly tell you everything important you need to know/rank/move on’ style of this, sets you apart a bit. Keep it up!
Final Fight was a bad super NES port. No Guy, no two player mode, no factory level, censorship, no cut scenes. Just a very bad port all around. I had it as a kid and played it, but the arcade version is so much better.
Man Riggs, I can't believe you didn't finish BOF II.. On of the most amazing endings of all!! BOF 1 AND II were to me the best RPG of all time, yes even over FF. (I love those too). I loved Secret of Evermore, Mana, Illusion of Gaia, and Chrono Trigger is probably right beside BOF, Earthbound, and even Actraiser. Man... Such great times. 🥹 The grinding-est game on the snes was Lufia I and II and 7th Saga. Wow, we were SO lucky.
You should have finished Breath of Fire II, becaue unlike all the other Breath of Fire games in the series, it was absolutely worth it, one of the best Final Boss Fights and endings in an JRPG ever. And honestely its the best game in the series. You downrated a very good game and timless classic. Its the hardest, too, but all RPG games are easy by default, so it does not matter. You can prepare everything for turn based combat by just bringing plenty of heals and potions. Its not Battletoads.
Your ranking videos were a bright light during a dark time a few years ago John. Thank you so much!! Always good to see you, and yes, I am subscribed 😅 Look forward to your future ranking videos.🙂
Yeah, in my opinion, the SNES Aladdin is the better version. That might be nostalgia talking too a little. But kudos to the publishers back in those days for making two different and awesome games of the same name in many cases on different systems
They couldn't be more different games. Super NES Aladdin feels so much like a Capcom game, while Aladdin on Genesis is Earthworm Jim with middle eastern spices.
I too give the Mega Man X series on SNES an S ranking! I think I would even give Mega Man 7 an S Rank! The initial four robot master screen threw me off at first but the more times I play this game the more I adore it! Excellent graphics and a really really excellent soundtrack!! It also featured to me the hardest final bout with Dr Wily!
Capcom could do no wrong on the SNES. They just kept releasing greatness. I would rank Saturday Night Slam Masters as an A or S tier. I loved playing that game.
Megaman X has tighter controls than 7, and the sprite size in 7 was too big, which made it feel a bit off, where as X series nailed the feel of original series.
Forward forward attack on knights of the round to do a power hit that sometimes makes enemies drop loot. My brother and I played that one so many times.
I dont know what was the issue that made Capcom not make Final Fight a two player game, I love the snes music better than the arcade though. Un Squadron has a sequel that only came out in the arcade. Mega Man X is one of my favorite games of all time.
I liked Megaman Soccer a lot when I was a kid and still pick it up from time to time. Couldn't help but notice you didn't mention power shots/super shots- each character has a unique power shot with different animations and effects. You can only do 2 power shots per half with the default settings, but I loved trying out each character to see their power shot. Added a lot of fun and replay value. Thanks for another great video
Out of the SNES CAPCOM Games my favorite is Demon's Crest . Why that game? you might ask. Well it's a childhood favorite of mine and it was my second snes when I got my snes, plus it was the game that I enjoy the most and still proudly own it to this day. Now don't get wrong, there are other capcom games thay I love absolute and enjoy such as Super Street Fighter 2,Super Ghouls'Ghost, U.N Squadrom aka Area 88,Mega Man X and X men mutant apocalypse, but Demon's Crest was the game that I felt in love at first sight because of it's dark medieval gothic look not to mention the medieval gothic music and it's gameplay which is a mix of Mega Man X with a bit of Ninja Gaiden and Bataman which reminds me of Street Fighter 2010 The Final Fight on the NES and Just like street Fighter 2010, Demon's Crest is an awesome, unique and underated game and mind you demon's crest is the last game of the spin off series gargoyle quest starring Red Arremer aka Fire Brand.
Eye of the Beholder was meant for computer; much like Wizardry 5 and 6 and Might and Magic 2 and 3, they imply weren't designed for a console's control scheme. They're designed around having a keyboard, if not Keyboard and mouse. All are classic CRPGs, even if Might and Magic 2, and Wizardry 5 and 6 are a bit harder to get into these days (especially Wizardry, which still didn't have graphics tiles until Wizardry 7). I can recommend them though, and most aren't hard to get these days, and they'll run on a toaster, much less a cheap micro PC or laptop. They just didn't work well on SNES, due to needing the UI completely redesigned around the controller (and not the half-assed job they did do). Mega Man 7 always felt kinda slow and clunky; not as smooth as the majority of the NES titles. Still very fun, very good game. But I think the large sprite kinda hurt it's feel.
@@neoclassic09 It was better than Might and Magic 2 and 3 on the Genesis and SNES but it was still clunky compared to the DOS version using a keyboard.
Around here Bonkers was an after school show. I think it didn't catch on because it launched towards the end of the whole Disney Afternoon thing. For a long time it was DuckTakes, Rescue Rangers and Talespin. Although that might be a bad theory because Dark Wing Duck caught on pretty well.
I still *very* much prefer the first three Mega Man games to anything that came after, including the X series, but yeah, they are definitely all S tier, and definitely better than Mega Man 7.
You've teased it for far too long now. I finally had to pull the trigger. And I must say, I can not wait to read this book about cereal! Just placed my order! You can even sign it if you want! (Please do) Love your stuff Riggs! Keep it coming
As much as we LOVED Mortal Kombat as mostly SEGA kids. I also had my SNES and loved it. I will never forget renting Super Street Fighter 2 and that intro with Ryu...
I always play Mega Man 7 with the "Classic Mode" password that removes the intro and intermission stage and unlocks all robot masters at the start. I personally like 7 better than the X games, but I'm biased to Classic over X because I think most of the X series sucks. Not all, but most.
I 100% agree that the Capcom games released on SNES were (for the most part) all amazing. Breath of Fire I and II are great. We do need a Breath of Fire collection. Aladdin on the SNES ... I remember not being able to get far as a kid and getting angry. 🤣 Final Fight and Final Fight II are great too. I never played Final Fight III. Mega Man 7 is good but I preferred the Mega Man X trilogy on the SNES. I never liked Mega Man Soccer. Street Fighter II is a legend. Street Fighter II Turbo & Super Street Fighter II are godly. Street Fighter Alpha 1 & 2 on the SNES were good but it was plagued by load times & animation frame issues. UN Squadron is a legend.
So you didn't mention a game I bought back in the day. Super Buster Bros. I got it on sale for $5 and it was one of the games that takes hundreds of hours to beat all of the stages. So while not the funniest game, it had huge value (for $5).
Bonkers was a palette swap of Roger Rabbit. They should've just made a Roger cartoon series instead. It would've done a lot better I bet. And I really wish we had a Roger Rabbit SNES game. Maybe an RPG like the Game boy version that was made by Capcom.
I was hoping UN Squadron was gonna be end up as S tier and you didn't not disappoint! 😁 Megaman X2 is my favorite out of all of them. You should do a Jaleco games ranking video!
I still remember talking to the manager at my local Babbage’s about the Aladdin games (he knew me by name because I was in there so much). I had rented the Genesis game due to the hype, but I honestly didn’t like it much (great graphics but gameplay and hit detection were iffy IMO), and he said the SNES game was better. So I got it and never regretted it, it is much better (again, IMHO). Also, I love me some beat em ups, but I never really got into Final Fight. 2 & 3 are waaaay better.

Couldn't help but notice you didn't mention power shots/super shots- each character has a unique power shot with different animations and effects. You can only do 2 power shots per half with the default settings, but I loved trying out each character to see their power shot. Added a lot of fun and replay value. Thanks for another great video
Out of the SNES CAPCOM Games my favorite is Demon's Crest
The way you introduced U.N. Squadron sounded like the game was called Urine Squattin'.
Wizardry worked great on NES
@@neoclassic09 It was better than Might and Magic 2 and 3 on the Genesis and SNES but it was still clunky compared to the DOS version using a keyboard.
Yes! New Riggs Video!
To me megaman x 1 is significantly better than all other capcom snes games
Awesome nostalgia in this one!! Thanks for sharing.
I played Demon's Crest on Switch's online service and it is simply AMAZING, it kinda became my favorite Capcom SNES game
YES!
Finally, a video game TH-camr with the SACK to proclaim that Mega Man X is a "S-Tier" game.
It's pretty much overrated across the board
I loved Breath of Fire II, but got stuck when I was forced to use a party member I didn't level up pretty far into it and quit lol
John, there are so many Japanese Disney games, I hope you do a video on them some day, love your laid back style!
I think they did Mega Man Soccer because the characters all have those big feet!
I still *very* much prefer the first three Mega Man games to anything that came after, including the X series, but yeah, they are definitely all S tier, and definitely better than Mega Man 7.
You are absolutely not the only one who would put MMX is the "S" category.
You've teased it for far too long now. I finally had to pull the trigger. And I must say, I can not wait to read this book about cereal!
Just placed my order! You can even sign it if you want! (Please do)
Love your stuff Riggs! Keep it coming
Street Fighter 2, Mega Man X
Then there is everything else
I’m big into Capcom right now. I’m currently playing, Bionic commando on the 360, Dark Void on the 360 and Dead Rising 4 on Xbox One.
Capcom absolutely killed it on SNES and I agreed with your rankings for the most part. Thumbs up.
As much as we LOVED Mortal Kombat as mostly SEGA kids. I also had my SNES and loved it. I will never forget renting Super Street Fighter 2 and that intro with Ryu...
Cookie Monster voice: "B is for Bonkers, is good enough for me."
I always play Mega Man 7 with the "Classic Mode" password that removes the intro and intermission stage and unlocks all robot masters at the start. I personally like 7 better than the X games, but I'm biased to Classic over X because I think most of the X series sucks. Not all, but most.
Yeah you need a keyboard and a mouse for games like Eye of the Beholder. Then they're some of the best games I have ever played.
Dungeon Master is still the daddy of that genre. Still my favourite game of all time.
I miss the old Capcom intro music from around the mid 90s
I remember renting UN Squadron and enjoying every minute
Yes me too!!!!!! One of my all time faves.
The Great Circus Mystery also have 2 player co-op, unlike The Magical Quest (that one you can only take turns in 2-player mode).
I 100% agree that the Capcom games released on SNES were (for the most part) all amazing.
Breath of Fire I and II are great. We do need a Breath of Fire collection.
Aladdin on the SNES ... I remember not being able to get far as a kid and getting angry. 🤣
Final Fight and Final Fight II are great too.
I like this series on publishers. Always quality work!
Looks like I need more SNES in my collection.
Thank you for the good videos.
So you didn't mention a game I bought back in the day. Super Buster Bros. I got it on sale for $5 and it was one of the games that takes hundreds of hours to beat all of the stages. So while not the funniest game, it had huge value (for $5).
Great Ranking Johnathan 😅 checking out your other 2 cap videos now.
UN Squadron was awesome, loved every minute of it, more please capcom!
great topic for a video man!
I think you play as Captain Commando in Section Z...forgot where I heard that though.
Love all these games! Captain Commando was so much fun, should get an A for creativity and humor 😆
Bonkers was a palette swap of Roger Rabbit. They should've just made a Roger cartoon series instead. It would've done a lot better I bet. And I really wish we had a Roger Rabbit SNES game. Maybe an RPG like the Game boy version that was made by Capcom.
Breath of Fire was developed by Capcom so it is indeed a Capcom game regardless of Squaresoft publishing it.
I love goof troop so much, so I love when you give it love! ❤️
I was hoping UN Squadron was gonna be end up as S tier and you didn't not disappoint! 😁 Megaman X2 is my favorite out of all of them. You should do a Jaleco games ranking video!
Super Buster Bros was a Capcom game released in NA and also JPN/EU under a different name.
DAmn, you're right! I forgot about that one, too.
Thankfully i have many of these titles on Switch & PSP.. I really liked the SNES era.. I really should have played even more than what I did
CAPtain COMmando. GET IT?????
The last boss or 2nd to last boss in Demons Crest was hard af! I can't remember which one. Great game!
“You don’t need to be a fan of the show but you may be confused why you are a cat cop.”
Capcom was so good back than. And so good now. Sf6 is a ton of fun, and they’re killing it with resident evil.
‘It’s like they tried to do it from memory’ great line
Congrats! I don't think I have ever seen anyone on TH-cam who liked Breath of Fire 1 more than 2.
Bonkers was exclusive to Disney Afternoon. Apparently it was overshadowed by Animaniacs, which aired opposite on Fox.
