Just to clarify for anyone looking for the document number on your work permit (this confused me too) -- Its on the top right hand side, without a label. It is NOT the number following the Application/Demande label. And like he mentioned, both of these start with a letter followed by 9 numbers, so its tricky to know which is the right one. Just thought I'd leave this here :)

We don't know what it is nor what it does to my spousal sponsorship PR application. I had a hard time researching that it is what AOR looks like for spousal sponsorship because my wife went to a different PR track (TR to PR for health workers). So when I have identified it because of your video, I immediately used it to apply for work permit extension, even though my OWP expires this May (I had 1 year PGWP). Let me tell you that your videos had my been my guide, my EXCLUSIVE knowledge-base to navigate the IRCC's convulated, unstructured, tedious, and very confusing system. Even the "guides" web pages are hardly useful! I think IRCC should either hire you to create explanation videos for them or outright buy the rights to your videos and put them in the IRCC website in order to facilitate understanding of their process.

I might be in the same situation. I'm trying to figure out how to apply for open work permit. We have already completed the sponsorship process. My husband will be arriving in Canada next week as a PR. So I can't seem to answer the questions correctly, it says, "you can apply to become a permanent Resident." 🙄 One of the questions asks how you are entering Canada. Visit visa, study visa, but permanent Resident is not an option. I chose temporary visa but then it wants to know the expiry of the temp visa. 😩Help please
@@pamfromnlhi!!! Go really slow and use all the steps he shows and you’ll get it. Where you’re getting stuck is when it asks “how long do you plan to stay in Canada?” And you say “permanent”. It’s not true because you’re WAITING on that, no affirmed. Treat this like its own separate document. The answer is Temporary- (longer than six months). When it asks for a specific date somewhere, if you’re from the US find your flight in and add 6 months to it. That’s the date of your temporary visa. Your visa is essentially your passport as an American. We get six months from the day we enter.

For example, I might get permanent residency in a year due to processing, and I need to help my husband with the bills, so I am applying for a work permit. If I didn't need to, I wouldn't :) If you are already a permanent resident, which it sounds like you are? Then you do not need a work permit, because a work permit is a form of a temporary visa for those who are working and don't have permanent residency.

"The AOR must be for your permanent resident application. You can’t use the AOR your sponsor received when they applied to sponsor you. " Wondering if you have any update or details on how to proceed further for OWP given this update. Thanks
I feel info is contradictory, same instruction says different: The AOR must be for your permanent resident application. It’s the AOR your sponsor receives from IRCC. & then ... in the upload part it says: upload the AOR that you received that proves the permanent residence application you submitted is complete.

These emails also had the WP application no. starting from letter 'W'. This means the application was reflecting in the GC Key login. Now, about 2 months later, I am not able to find the application in the GC Key login. I tried linking the application to the account but as usual the search is not yielding anything. Is this normal? should I try raising webform about this?

Quick question please, in the section " details of intended work in canada" you said to copy SCLPC - FC OWP” in the Job title box. but it says dashes like - are not allowed on the form. also when I look at how to complete form IMM5710, in the same section it says to just leave question 2 to 8 empty which is that Job title box part. Should I leave it empty or do as you say and copy what's on that page because it is also still there on their website, but again dashes are not allowed so im a bit confused, thank you

What if you apply for SOWP as an outland applicant (but actually submitted the forms when you were with your spouse in Canada), and then come back to your original country to sort out things before the OWP is granted? Coming from the US they do not stamp my passport and I get 6 months temporary residence with my passport being the visa without given dates. I only have a copy of my flight itinerary and they will already have my entire copy of stamped passport on the document. Do I ignore that part?

Hello, I have a question. What I should mark in number 3 of the first part if I am on a WHV Open work permit that expires in some weeks, but I am applying for an Open Work permit through my girlfriend's high-skilled work sponsorship? I don´t know if it would be "Apply for a work permit for the first time or with a new employer" or not, since while I am in an open work permit, I have never applied to that, it is "Intrinsically" included in the WHV.
Why there are two categories of fee? One for work permit and other for open work permit folder fees. Isn't this application only for Spousal open work permit ?

If an applicant has submitted an OUTLAND permanent residency application through the spousal sponsorship program and is currently in Canada on a visitor visa, and they have also applied for a spousal open work permit while in Canada and are awaiting a decision, can the applicant stay in Canada under maintained status until a decision is made on the work permit application even if their visitor visa expires before that. I’m asking because I’ve seen some websites mentioning that maintained status applies to inland sponsorship applications, and I’m unsure if this applies to OUTLAND spousal sponsorship applications as well. Could you please clarify and share any links to an official website where I can find more information? Thanks again for your help!

Thank you for your time a d research into this subjects. I got my partner approved for a spousal sponsorship PR without any lawyers expenses thanks to you. I have contacted IRCC to ask this question about the OWP refund, sinxe we got the PR aproval before the OWP was approved and they aaid there would only be a partial refund. Is there anywhere on the government website that states the info you shared on the video?

I found online that as a temporary resident you can apply for owp and that if you are student, that you should place "worker" as a temporary measure. However this was for a the temporary resident to pr pilot that is no longer valid, but it does say you can still apply for work permit. any information helps!

I told him the questionnaire is flawed and he said he would send me an email with information that would let me bypass the questionnaire. After I hung up I received an email with a link to the guide to apply for a work permit, but it doesn't bypass the questionnaire at all, I just don't think he understood what I meant... I guess I will make the application and either put visitor or worker in the status question, I know I am not eligible for a postgraduate permit at all so if I put student there is no way I can make an application for owp... Please let me know what you do and if you have more info!

Yes, this is correct. I think this always start with a letter, S for students, U for Workers and another one I can't remember.

You can also sign by selecting print to pdf. Learnt this the hard way. They don't take printed and scanned signatures anymore.

I could see some of the applicants have placeholders for "marriage certificate" and "proof of medical exam". Am i missing something? Or their situations are different and have answered questions differently which ended up asking different placeholders in supporting documents section.

What if you apply for SOWP as an outland applicant (but actually submitted the forms when you were with your spouse in Canada), and then come back to your original country to sort out things before the OWP is granted? Basially my question is, am I able to return to my country while waiting for approval for the SOWP?

Hi! Amazing video. What if I do not have proof of valid temporary residence? Coming from the US they do not stamp my passport and I get 6 months temporary residence with my passport being the visa without given dates. I only have a copy of my flight itinerary and they will already have my entire copy of stamped passport on the document. Do I ignore that part?

Hello, I have a question. What I should mark in number 3 of the first part if I am on a WHV Open work permit that expires in some weeks, but I am applying for an Open Work permit through my girlfriend's high-skilled work sponsorship? I don´t know if it would be "Apply for a work permit for the first time or with a new employer" or not, since while I am in an open work permit, I have never applied to that, it is "Intrinsically" included in the WHV.

If an applicant has submitted an OUTLAND permanent residency application through the spousal sponsorship program and is currently in Canada on a visitor visa, and they have also applied for a spousal open work permit while in Canada and are awaiting a decision, can the applicant stay in Canada under maintained status until a decision is made on the work permit application even if their visitor visa expires before that.
I’m asking because I’ve seen some websites mentioning that maintained status applies to inland sponsorship applications, and I’m unsure if this applies to OUTLAND spousal sponsorship applications as well. Could you please clarify and share any links to an official website where I can find more information?

I have contacted IRCC to ask this question about the OWP refund, sinxe we got the PR aproval before the OWP was approved and they aaid there would only be a partial refund. Is there anywhere on the government website that states the info you shared on the video?

But when I tried giving answers in GC key it is not showing me that I can apply for open work permit if I put my immigration status as student. However, If i put my immigration status as visitor then I can apply for open work permit.

I found online that as a temporary resident you can apply for owp and that if you are student, that you should place "worker" as a temporary measure. However this was for a the temporary resident to pr pilot that is no longer valid, but it does say you can still apply for work permit. any information helps!
@@VictoriaMurillo-yb4ms I'm not sure what you mean by worker as a temporary measure. I just called ircc and talked to a guy. I told him the questionnaire is flawed and he said he would send me an email with information that would let me bypass the questionnaire. After I hung up I received an email with a link to the guide to apply for a work permit, but it doesn't bypass the questionnaire at all, I just don't think he understood what I meant... I guess I will make the application and either put visitor or worker in the status question, I know I am not eligible for a postgraduate permit at all so if I put student there is no way I can make an application for owp... Please let me know what you do and if you have more info!
