I was even more amazed at how long Grian deliberately maintained only half a heart for the entire last segment, starting with the gathering at the Boatem Hole in their official Swaggon space suits, then made sure to stay with Mumbo all the way down, just to trick Mumbo into high fiving him in the void. If he mistimed it at any point, the whole trick would have failed. That whole like 7 or 8-minute segment was perfect. And from Mumbo's reaction, it might not have even been planned :P

I watched Mumbo's first and was surprised at him being startled and showing his tarnished statistics, but I also regularly watch Grian, so when I saw his perspective and him sitting at half a heart, it was an Ah-ha moment. As far as I've noticed, just knocking someone around so they get environmentally killed doesn't give the player credit for killing, unless they did a certain amount of damage first. Mumbo has End Crystal killed people and mobs, which would follow the same theme, causing environmental kills, but didn't give him credit because he didn't hit them enough, and I believe he's accidentally hit people while struggling in the Boatem hole, like during the Llama meeting under the hole, or pushing Scar into the hole, but didn't get credited with a kill.
So essentially...the hermits are canonically either hopping from planet to planet (Possibly Other Seasons) or in a simulation in every season (Season 6 and 8). Understood.
They were also the only ones who planned to face the moon apocalypse together and loyally stayed together (as well as Ren & Doc, but their storyline was very different!).

My personal theory for why tfc didn't really react to the moon is that he is a god, and has been the architect of all of this, with mining being a facade for what he really was doing.
He's the Hermitect. He's elderly, he's very, very, VERY experienced (first public video in 2007, years before any of the other current Hermits posted anything), and he's always settled very deep in the complex networks of the world, and it's extremely rare that other Hermits ever see him or hear from him, plus, no matter what gets broken, he still comes back, changing things, rebuilding the deep, hidden network, and making it work. #MatrixArchitectBest

I like how this means that the Hermitcraft Cinematic Universe is legitimately a thing now. We got a taste of it with Ren's Season 7 finale with The Stargazer, but this was next level and server-wide.
This is my first season of Hermitcraft that I’ve watched from start to finish, and the short duration was a great introduction to the server! Excited to watch more.
I am the same, I got into minecraft in the last few weeks of 1.16 (because of hololive girls😅🤣) and watched only the last to episode of hermitcraft craft season 7 in Grian's channel. But what got me really hooked was 3rd life, there I learned about the other hermits and the others minecrafters, and boy I am glad that I did. Season 8 was awesome and great introduction to all the hermits that I followed for the bast half year

I had clocked that season 8 was going to end as soon as the moon started becoming bigger, since that was the time the hermits who were most aware of the backend running of the server, and the various meta-narratives started finishing their bases. The other hermits continued, as usual, relatively none the wiser until the very end when they were likely informed via Discord that the season would be ending in 2-3 weeks.
I had no idea of all of this omg. I just started watching season 8 as my intro to hermitcraft and I was very much entertained. I loved the proximity since it gave such great comedic timing and scares. I can’t wait to see the next season and these analysis/explanation videos!
I really really enjoyed this season so much, and I´m actually quite sad to see it end. BUT, I know next season will be even better, as the hermits just keep on being such great minds!

What people are not realizing is the amount of time and effort went into this season and the effect it had on a lot of people's health. Condensing a full season down to only 6 months meant all the bases had to be done in less than 4 months because it wasn't until august that they decided to end the season for 1.18, by September you started seeing Hermits getting sick and missing uploads to the point that there where 7 of them all sick at the same time because they were having to put in extra hours to this and Scar had to be hospitalized multiple times this year and you could tell it was because of how much time he had to spend both on the server and in his test world. Hell half the Hermits didn't even do the escape plan stuff and some just stopped uploading HC episodes all together like Stressmonster did and I'm willing to bet a lot of them were pissed about the season being cut short on such short notice and not being able to tell their fans what was going on.

God I REALLLY hope they expand on the lore in S9, this has got to be one of the coolest things they’ve done with Hermitcraft. Since it was a experimental season, I think we can confidently say that the experiment was a major success, at least in my eyes
personaly i really enjoyed the close location everyone had, id enjoy that next season if they were to do so agian too, altho on a slightly bigger scale so everyone would have room for there builds if we take S7 scale per person, as that would be much more of what i would expect from a long season, tho i think this will take extra long until the next one, as 1.19 is gonna be implementing so much to the generation, or next season is gonna be reletively short too, not as short as this one but short non the less

The 2 pilots on the ship could be both transporters and archivist of the hermits. As more of Minecraft is updated, they begin to leave for another planet, where the new updated content is. They also archive the best build from each season, however since the new update happened during hermit craft season 8, they created the false reality. Also evil x could be a AI and not the real evil x, or the virus could be the creation of the real evil x or something else

According to that lore, the physical reality of S8 didn’t exist, but the Hermits “lived it” in their minds as real. So it’s likely that all growth Hermits had in this season will still carry forward into S9. It makes more sense if you watch Ren & Doc’s post moon-crash scenes where Doc explains the Hermatrix.

Idea for a hermitcraft what if: What if Shady Oaks SMP members joined Hermitcraft
Now I wanna see TFC and Etho mining together, with etho being excited at Redstone and TFC at diamonds
The 2 pilots on the ship could be both transporters and archivist of the hermits. As more of Minecraft is updated, they begin to leave for another planet, where the new updated content is. They also archive the best build from each season, however since the new update happened during hermit craft season 8, they created the false reality. Also evil x could be a AI and not the real evil x, or the virus could be the creation of the real evil x or something else
If we don’t count the hermitrix

According to that lore, the physical reality of S8 didn’t exist, but the Hermits “lived it” in their minds as real. So it’s likely that all growth Hermits had in this season will still carry forward into S9. It makes more sense if you watch Ren & Doc’s post moon-crash scenes where Doc explains the Hermatrix.
