Jake recently got hands-on with Civ VI. Here are the most interesting things to come out of it, as well as a few early impressions.

+a random spaceman Gandhi's use of nukes is an Easter egg to a bug in civ 1 that made his likelihood to use nukes 100 instead of the intended 0
+Nicholas Roberts yeah I heard about that in a video a while ago. but it's still fun to see a peaceful nation that's been working with you the whole game, just decide to nuke you to the stone age
a random spaceman I it's like "friend let us keep working together scientifically and economically to improve our civilization" a year later. "What that cloud over by our cultural center city" message from Gandhi broadcasting to all of your people "HOW DO YOU LIKE OUR NEW WEAPON? THE GREAT THING IS IS THAT THERE'S MORE COME TO CITY CENTER NEAR YOU!!" and then you are swamped by incoming reports of nuclear detonations and floods of Indian troops crossing into your territory

Probably going back to the Civ 4 and Revolution look because when Civ 5 came out people complained about the style back then.

Man, this game looks amazing. With a 1,000 hours logged on Civ V I know I'll just have a blast with this. It seems so different.
I don't understand why everyone's hating on the art style, I'm sure some people may prefer a more realistic art style but this new one is in no way a negative.

Jacob Halfman i loved civ 5, the artstyle wasn't mind blowing but it definetly wasn't a negative. I think it'll be the same thing with this, yes there will be negativity around the change because of how large it is, but i have a feeling it'll grow on people and doubt it'll be something people will dread seeing every time they launch the game
ehhh im not so sure, ill give it a chance but im not so sure that kinda of artstyle wqill grow on me at least since its that kinda artstyle thats kept me away from some games
It looks like a free to play mobile game, that's not nice to people who don't like shitty free to play mobile games, and this look reminds us of those, and we don't want to pay money for something that reminds us of those. That's kinda it really.
Civ V's artstyle was boring.

Thank you for being a decent human being. There is a bunch of people who are saying they are going to refuse to play the game because of the art style. I also prefer civ V style but the gameplay sounds cool and it isn't like the style is totally terrible.

looks like they are making this for mobile in mind. i dont like it.
+crazybongo5 - If you've ever seen Civ 4, then you would know that the graphics them have heavily influenced the graphics here. Everything may look like it's all plastic, and not detailed at all from above, but when you zoom in, it looks great.
i absolutely love the graphics, it looks like dishonored. like a hand painted version of civ v
The game looks absolutely beautiful. I really like the way the unseen tiles just look like a map of the area and the glare of the sun off of the water in the Coluseum construction scene; speaking of which I also welcome back the wonder construction scenes.
never got into the series, really need to check it out, great video!

theres one for crusader kings two if you are willing to learn how to play that game
lol yeah, CK2 has less of a learning curve and more of a sheer cliff you have to learn to scale.

They're not necessarily asking for a change to be made, simply stating that they dislike that part of the game (personally I'm not much of a fan either, although it's Civ so it'll be fun).
+AceTaker - Lone Survior It does. If people don't like the art style, they should say so, so that if the majority of people don't like the art style in Civ 6, the devs can make the art style more like Civ 5 in Civ 7.

***** I doubt a mod will overhaul the game's literal art style, people will just have to decide whether or not it's a dealbreaker for them. If so, they're probably not big fans of the Civ series.

The game looks CASUAL, maybe it's the "free"-to-play mobile graphics, but it doesn"t look good at all, i think most of the civ players don't like this childlish graphics, and facebook game looking gameplay
+Lucas Vinci maybe it looks better in person. The amount of info and stuff going on in the UI and menus alone make it feel way less mobile, but that's just me.
Ehhh no. Most of the Civ players dont really care about graphics in the slightest. Some people even played Civ V strategic mode. Its not about the graphics its about the game. I like the art style but do agree that the UI could be better bit like I said, most Civ players just dont really care.
I absolutely HATE the graphics. I'm still gonna get the game, but it's definitely weird. It looks, as Lucas said, like it has casual mobile graphics. It's just so bad looking. I mean, I'm sure the game will be great but, I hate the graphics.
I agree the art type is very questionable
I don't like the graphics but I love the mechanics especially the districts,it reminds me a lot of Endless legends and I loved the city building in that game, and speaking of strategic mode they add two more different modes one is various filter and I can't remember the other but I know Quill18 mentioned it in his first 150 turns that he is uploading to his channel these past few days

drag0n_rage Cities:Skylines and Mount and Blade: Warband (which I didn't know they published). I tried Crusader Kings 2 on a free weekend, but the it was a little too overwhelming for a new player, such as myself.

I've been sort of ignoring information and the bits of news on Civ VI up until seeing this video, and decided to watch it because hey I AM subscribed to this channel, and now I'm pretty interested in the game even though I don't like to hype stuff up.
A question about civilizations and leaders though. Do civilizations have multiple leaders possible or is that a no? What makes civilizations unique in this game? And how many were there available to be played with the release that Gameranx got to play? Is there a list of confirmed civilizations that is recent?

I didn't even know this was coming. I'm so pumped, especially if the DLC is up to par with the previous installments. Can't wait to throw years into this like I have with Alpha Centauri and Civ 5.
i hope they dont do like they did with civ 5 where without the dlc the game simply sucks ass.....
they said civ vi will have all the features of civ 5 with DLC plus more
it looks good right now. i personally didn't think civ 5 sucked without the dlc but it did get bland much faster

The Civ 5 art style was great and so far I think the Civ 6 are style is good too they are different styles but they each have been done to perfection.
Did they keep the 1 military unit per tile aspect? I really enjoyed the more advanced strategy to war besides the unit bombs. Can you still build roads without traders, and does te road created by the trader count towards your maintenance costs?

Civ has always been a notorious resource hog and Im really doubtful it would run well on my mac.

I bought civ 5 recently on steam sale, the closest I've played to this is Zeus master of Olympus when I was a kid ( maybe 15 years ago) and i think it was an old game then, and it played very differently. You had to build each hut individually and upgrade them individually as opposed to just founding a city that turned up. The other game that I suppose has its similarities is heroes of might and magic 5 I think was the one I played. So I'm struggling to learn the best and most efficient way of playing civ

I like the art style for the game overall, but not so much the leaders. They seem more uncanny than 5.

7th thing to know: the soundtrack.
I've sometimes just stood on the main menu to listen to the main theme in Civ IV and V for some minutes.
But is warlord Ghandi in the game though?

I still play Civilization 4 with mods. So good! I haven't even touched the later ones.
Is it still one unit per tile? That's somewhat of a killer for me.
I did a little of BE, and rather enjoyed it. It looked great to me, and played fairly well from what I recall. Felt bad war mongering my first run when I watched the cinematic a little later. I wouldn't mind playing it again when I can get it too.
Got Civ 5 again, had on Onlive, but that died out. Never got to play it much because of that. Done a few games of it since, and overall enjoy myself. I never had the difficulty high though, so now I actually have a challenge against me while playing, and so far have been screwed over and made my way to a loss. Still enjoyed it though, and it looks fairly nice.
This, from what I seen, is quite a set up on fleshing out the gameplay for everything but war. Which, still is neat. I like the district ideas and all that. But, the arcady graphics really put a hurt on it for me. One thing I looked for in the civ games, as with any, is a semi-realistic look. I expected nothing absurd, but the steps from 5 to BE was a proper direction. This looks like a backstep then a shimmy to the side. It is still clean looking, but man... the new style just gets under my skin. The people don't even look right in their screens anymore. Cleopatra with her giant head and eyes.. it's odd.
That being said, I enjoy the new map style, no better or worse than fog. My only beef is how bright it looks when not in view. Darkening anything not in sight a bit would work wonders to me, because out of everything, that is what is making me squirm in my seat the most it seems. Stuff that is lit also doesn't have the same depth, meaning like hills seem like little bumps, forests and jungles are just a couple trees now. All with that cartoon look. The UI reminds me of Smite too. Which is eh.
The biggest thing then is graphics. Art style. However you want it said. Rest seems great, and able to baffle me for days. I'll still nab this no doubt. Maybe not on launch though.
And here I thought they couldn't make better CIV than Brave New World and by the looks of things I was wrong. I really like the map and new colors and all the new systems sound quite exiting.

Still not sure what to think about the comic-like graphics. I really like the more realistic graphics in civ 5 and now it seems like they turned civ 6 into some sort of settlers or aoe online clone.
When does it come out
I love the look of the game based on what has been revealed so far, but I definitely hope they still add some decent modding support for this game.
One of the things I loved most about Civ 5 was just all the different leaders and gameplay mods you could find. I loved setting up my own scenarios with all these different modded leaders, and I definitely hope that these prospects can be found in the new game too.

I think the leaders look pretty goofy and weird, but I like the look of the map and the cities
civ is one of the only series that everyone agrees on when they add something new

The graphics are pretty good to me. A different art style from Civilization V brings a fresher view to the game; though that wouldn't matter as long as the final game brings a good amount of gameplay content, I mean something that would make me critically decide what to do now and next.
The district system is probably the best feature to me
