  • I have been shooting nothing but Holga 400 (Fomapan Action 400) over the last month. My hope was to find an inexpensive black-and-white film that I can push and pull from 100 to 1600.
In this video, I talk about the testing process and share my results.
A full write-up of all off the times and temps I used are posted at the FIMF blog here:

Hi there. I'm Chris. Film is more fun is a place where I share about whatever busted up old camera I'm currently shooting and tinkering with, or my meanderings in film photography. It would be pretty rad if you said what's up. I'm 99% friendly. Definitely do that. Disclaimer: If you want technical proficiency this might not be the best place. These videos are more like an elderly person navigating a tv remote control. Pretty random and confused.

Can’t wait for that XP5 video! Man, you really did a really thorough job of testing this stock. Love the leaf shots!

Haha you might be waiting a while on that review...
Thanks, I feel like I have a good handle on Foma now, but still need to get that grain and contrast under control.

Definitely! I'm actually in the process of doing that but haven't developed any of the images yet.

D76 works really well with foma400, but my absolute favorite is Ansco 17. You can find the recipe for it in the cookbook.

I've been using the Arista branded version of Fomapan 400 for a few years now and will say that the film is very sensitive to changes in developers. When I develop in HC-110, I need to expose it at EI250 or the contrast shoots-up faster than a moon rocket. But in Caffenol it really sings. Rodinal is also just fine.
