This shows so much character development for miss galinda!! I like seeing her more vulnerable, and i like that she feels comfortable enough to share that with elphie
This is good and should not have been cut. The question this scene asks is: Does Glinda want to be included because she actually cares, or because she just wants to be liked. Elphaba let her fall asleep in the classroom because Elphaba, in her gut, doesn't believe Glinda shares her values or actually cares. This scene adds so much because later Elphaba keeps her promise TWICE, once when she invites Glinda to come to the Emerald City and again in Defying Gravity, when Elphaba asks Glinda to come with her. Then Glinda doesn't come... that moment is made more tragic by this scene, because it means on some level, Glinda proved Elphaba's gut instinct right. She doesn't share those values, she just wants to be liked. And that didn't change, even after Glinda grew to care for Elphaba, she still doesn't care about doing what''s right over what's easy.
Another take, though, is that if Galinda HAD been included in helping the Lion cup she might have been more willing to take a bigger risk later. Not everyone is able to jump into new experiences. (Elphaba didn't have full control over her choice of who fell asleep/stayed awake, though, so it's sort of a moot point.)
@russella90 Glinda didn't have the development, magic skills and emotionally, to help Elphaba in the defying gravity scene. The sentiment and loyalty was fully there from Glinda, but that ask was a lot from Elphaba. Glinda would need Elphaba's protection from then on if she went with her, which could risk Elphaba's extreme efforts as, well, a terrorist to the state. Glinda does not have the skills to assist Elphaba at that level and is best suited to taking down the state diplomatically from the inside. It hurts because it crushes their friendship, but I wouldn't call it a betrayal. Both work strategically to their strengths. Had Glinda had more "training" earlier on, as another comment pointed out, there's a chance she would have been more fit to take such an extreme risk that goes against the nature she was raised to exhibit.
@russella90 I've said the same about this scene from the moment I saw it. It adds so much to the cub and DG scenes in showing how subconsciously Elphaba knew whose personal character matched her own. Glinda literally asked to be her 'ride or die' and then she didn't follow through. While, Fiyero [in act 2] starts jumping through various hoops trying to find Elphaba and keep her safe. I do hope it's added to Wicked: For Good as a flashback.
This is a shallow take. Glinda is not as capable in magic as Elphaba. And they were about to become the whole nation's public enemy no.1. Girl was privileged her whole life, understandable that she was scared to take a leap of faith because all she had was influence
While I understand what you're getting at, I'd like to offer another view: Glinda knows her greatest skill is being likable, regardless of her behavior. She wants to help Elphie, but the only thing she's really good at is being liked, so she works behind closed doors to get Oscar the Fraud out of Oz while playing his (and Morribles) game. She's not aware of Elphies plans, but shes not actively hunting her down, either.
Not only does this show a deeper look into glinda and deepen the bond between elphaba and her, it also shows her actually working hard to earn something!! It shows that the magic she does when shes older isnt a natural gift
Putting this in the movie will make it more heartbreaking considering Glinda left Elphie behind at the finale "I hope youre happy now that youre choosing this" 😭😭😭

This scene is so good!! It shows that Galinda truly does care about Elphie, and Elphaba realizing her mistake and apologizing when she wouldn’t have otherwise is great character development! Dont care what people say, they should have really kept this in because its very significant to the potential romantic tension between the two. Glinda is upset about being left, you can see elphaba gets uncomfortable because she knows going off somewhere with her best friend's boyfriend is wrong, especially now that she feels attracted to him. But glinda doesnt seem to care about elphaba girl being alone with her boyfriend, what she does care about is elphaba "choosing" fiyero over her. Its very interesting and i love them bye

Yeah, totes! I'm glad they cut this, it just makes someone else's struggle all about her, and she's supposed to be slightly better about that by this point.
@kimd7835 Wrong and wrong again. A) Could Glinda really trust Elphaba? The answer is no and this proved it. Had she gone with Elphaba she would have been backstabbed and lost everything. B) Glinda made the smarter decision and achieved more good than Elphaba in the long run. Elphaba should have trusted Glinda but only cared about her and Fiyero so her loss.
Yes. Glinda disliked Dr. Dillamond because he sneered at her essay and compared her to Elphaba. But when she sees what Elphaba is doing to Dorothy and Toto Glinda shows empathy for both the child and the dog and orders Elphaba to release them. Fiyero is not passionate about any cause except sleeping with Elphaba since he is a womanizer
As well-performed and touching as this scene was, it makes sense for them to cut it because it kind of ruined the moment in the platform scene where Elphaba finally decided to invite Glinda to go with her to the Emerald City. The director himself explained the reason for its deletion in a interview too.
i love this scene cuz u can tell shes being genuine but wen push came to shove she could not be there for her. explains why elphaba even asked her to come along in the first place. but elphie girl trust ur intuition cuz shes here for a good time not a long time
The two other deleted scenes I saw should have been cut. This one would have fit in well and it packs significant relationship development into a compact window of time. Elphaba even promises not to leave her behind, which feeds directly into her inviting her to Oz.
I think it becomes evident in this scene that while Glinda used to behave as if she somehow "had more" than Elphaba - she now realizes that there are things Elphaba has that she herself covets, the talent for sorcery for instance (well, and Fiyero, though in this scene Glinda only realizes there might be something "off" about Elphaba's behavior involving this guy!). If you look at the song "Popular", you notice she carries herself as rather privileged and as someone who has all the answers and assumes that what worked for her will necessary also work for others, and how much she assumes herself to be still Elphaba's superior because of that. I think in that scene both young women begin to realize that each of them is only what she is through the respective other; most notably Glinda will not be able to be as convicingly the Good Witch without Elphaba, in her turn, being the Wicked Witch.
This would set up a good double whammy. She keeps her promise by inviting Glinda to come to Oz with her. Then she offers for Glinda to ‘come with her’ at the end of the film, although they both know it’s not going to happen.
I think in the train station scene when Fiyero is saying goodbye to Elphaba, Glinda could tell by the way Elphaba and Fiyero were looking at each other that Fiyero is different cause of Elphaba and that he likes her
@RosieTheWickedFangirl2007 Glinda didn't want to believe they would do that to her though. She didn't think Elphaba could stoop that low. But this whole time Elphaba only cared about herself
I get why they had to delete some scenes because at some point you’re gonna realise that this movie is gonna be bloated in like 1 million hours long but like some of them are really good
What do you think about the music? I heard "I'm not that girl" while Glinda is talking and it changes when Elpie is talking to "For good"? Is that true? Did i miss one? What do you think about it?
i never bought into the way elphaba and glinda became inseparable in a single night, and i thought the whole point of making the movie twice as long was to develop shit like this. point being scenes like this would have definitely helped. apparently i am in the minority of people who do not buy into their instant friendship, though. i mean shit, twitter has turned them into lovers.
Twitter didn't though??? Sorry, but Wicked's gay af and it always has been. This ship has been around since the book (which features multiple non-straight characters including Elphaba's own father) was published in the 90s. What is This Feeling was written as a nod to the gay vibes in the original book and even had to tone down the LGBT aspects of the original, Idina and Kristin leaned very heavily into the ship when they were playing the roles, and both Kristin and Ariana have admitted that they thought of Glinda as a closeted lesbian. Everyone can have their own personal opinions about it, you're free to not like it, but gen z didn't make anything any gayer than it's already been for the past 30 years
@@madisoncook1750 huh . . . . maybe i am just incredibly stupid but i never got gay vibes from the musical. why is fiyero even a thing, then, if gregory maguire's intent has always been that they are gay??
I feel like this scene can be read in two ways: one, it implies that Galinda is aware of Elphaba's feelings for Fiyero and *may* be a little jealous (whether of her or him depends on who you ship) and two, it shows how much Galinda truly loves Elphaba, which can be read as romantic or platonic.
Apparently it was a rough cut, but the producers said that every time this was shown at test screenings all the lesbians in the theater began uncontrollably moaning so loudly that no one could hear the dialogue or music for the rest of the movie
Why should I find Elphaba likeable after she decided to let Fyero (and not Glinda) awake so that he could help her with the cub? If Elphaba doesn't trust Glinda, then she's not a good friend.
In the original wicked book, Glinda is seemed as a “fake friend” in the book, So I would assume that Glinda only said that, because she was jealous of Elphaba going with Fiyero, Or maybe she really is a good friend to her 🤷🏽♀️?
They should include this as a flashback in the 2nd movie! This changes the whole dynamic of everything to follow and it is the first time I felt Galinda be GOOD 💖 (w/o feeling the guilt to be good)

@SethRGray Someone else's struggle? Elphaba was betraying her here actually.
Fiyero and Elphie belong together, period. Glinda gets to be ruler of Oz despite ‘losing’ her sister and losing Fiyero to her as well
As well-performed and touching as this scene was, it makes sense for them to cut it because it kind of ruined the moment in the platform scene where Elphaba finally decided to invite Glinda to go with her to the Emerald City. The director himself explained the reason for its deletion in a interview too.
It didn't though. It didn't make up for the level of betrayal she committed here and is destined to do more harm to her
I feel like it adds to the platform scene and makes it all the more important that Elphaba chose to invite her
The platform moment is secondary. What it would have helped was the heartbreak when Glinda refuses to go help her at the end.
i love this scene cuz u can tell shes being genuine but wen push came to shove she could not be there for her. explains why elphaba even asked her to come along in the first place. but elphie girl trust ur intuition cuz shes here for a good time not a long time
The fact that with elphaba... Glinda just being glinda, not try to act or trying to be a popular girl.
The two other deleted scenes I saw should have been cut. This one would have fit in well and it packs significant relationship development into a compact window of time. Elphaba even promises not to leave her behind, which feeds directly into her inviting her to Oz.
Wow they should have left this in!!
Glinda the good is actally Good
That explains why she asked her to come along to the Emerald city
Why are all the deleted scenes the ones that show them being friends, we needed more development between them
That would enphasize why she ask her to follow her in the Emerald train.
Actually, I think this makes the end when Elphaba asks her to come with her and Glinda refuses have MUCH more power.
@@CJ87317 G(a)linga tried to jump wiyh her but got arrested before...
She already decided not to go. She didn't answer when asked and all but told her goodbye.
@@CJ87317 why does she tried to jump too ?
Once the guards burst in, she's gets scared and tries to get away from them, but she never was planning on leaving.
Why was such an amazing clip removed?
Then she offers for Glinda to ‘come with her’ at the end of the film, although they both know it’s not going to happen.
her face was like 0:39 oh god hope she doesn't find out what i did with fiyero yesterday
@@austinvhm not you again
I wish we can see the deleted scenes of the friends having their Shiz adventures
I think it’s because of the book.. in the book they have a romantic thing going on.. Glinda even had wet dreams about Elphaba
I agree
@@claddagh1826 because elphaba does end up with fiyero in the book, she's probably bi. problem solved
If I had kept this scene alive, I think the scene where Elphaba takes Glinda to the Emerald City would have been more convincing.
It would have made Glinda not joining her at the end more heartbreaking.
I think this scene will be inserted in part 2 as a flashback, too.❤
I feel like this scene can be read in two ways: one, it implies that Galinda is aware of Elphaba's feelings for Fiyero and *may* be a little jealous (whether of her or him depends on who you ship) and two, it shows how much Galinda truly loves Elphaba, which can be read as romantic or platonic.
As I see the deleted scenes I wish they could have been there - though the movie would have been 5 hours.
Eu gostaria que essa cena e a do trem estivessem no segundo filme como um flashback delas
I am camp this should not have been deleted
I think it’s an injustice to the LGBT community not to have an ending where these two are couple
you have destroyed enough movies with your agenda , Let NORMAL behaviour be the norm again.
THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN DELETED!!!
Bowen Yang Cynthia.
In the musical, she had the option to help and didn't.
what are you talking about? in the musical she is absent from class when dillamond is taken and lion cub scene goes down.
Apparently it was a rough cut, but the producers said that every time this was shown at test screenings all the lesbians in the theater began uncontrollably moaning so loudly that no one could hear the dialogue or music for the rest of the movie
hahaha! 😂
Thsi makes soooo much more sense, why she invited her to come with her to see the wizard.
So many good scenes didn't make it
Why should I find Elphaba likeable after she decided to let Fyero (and not Glinda) awake so that he could help her with the cub?
If Elphaba doesn't trust Glinda, then she's not a good friend.
You don’t have to like her. Both characters have flaws
Even if Ariana doesn’t win this year she got next year also there b other roles
Good thing they delete this scene or else it could have been a different story.
Wow that's gay af. Love my wlw
💚🧹🩷🪄🫧
Why was this scene cut??? Ugh! I'm so mad. 🤦♀️
In the original wicked book, Glinda is seemed as a “fake friend” in the book, So I would assume that Glinda only said that, because she was jealous of Elphaba going with Fiyero, Or maybe she really is a good friend to her 🤷🏽♀️?
