I bet it has been a long time since that iPhone last received a call with a SIM card, very cool to see this in action! As you said, not exactly practical apart from testing but it’s still better than nothing! It would be interesting to see if this setup is capable of doing more, but just seeing cell service show up by itself is still really cool.
I can confirm the software works with a SCR331 reader with the default Windows 10 driver. It would be cool if you could do something like this with a SDR and a Raspberry Pi.
Been wondering about these devices for a while, as 2G and 3G networks are being phased out worldwide. But some countries still have them in some fashion, so maybe it's not quite needed yet.
Also wonder if we could run our own private GSM/2G/3G network in some form even if it's just on private land with limited coverage would still work like WiFi for certain devices might be useful.
@@dosdude1wouldn’t that be a pirate radio? I would guess you would still need the proper license for broadcasting on these frequencies, even though gsm is no longer in use…

You can, it's been done at Burning Man before you can probably find it on Google
Yep, you indeed can. I intend to do so at some point, but the necessary equipment (a full-duplex SDR) is very expensive.

@@dosdude1you are a wizard!
Awesome video. 👍
Hey Dosdude.
I noticed today that the Dosdude1 website is down. Is that something that you have stopped supporting? Or will it return?
Thank you so much for this video .

Yep, I got Edge the other day on Vodafone
Can the Racal work as a basic service monitor like spectrum analyzer deviation etc
Do you know where I can find a manual for these?
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find the full manual, but I do have a physical copy of the “Installation Manual”, which I got with mine.
@@dosdude1 can you upload a PDF of it to somewhere like internet archive?
Did you have to jailbreak the iPhone? The first gen iPhone was locked to AT&T
Just quickly had a look at those roms, looks like only ROM 2 and ROM 4 have any actual code on them the other two are blanked FF
Yep, that is indeed the case. Though the Anite firmware actually utilized all 4 ROMs.
Just come to Germany if you want to use 2G networks. I see the awesome Edge logo all the time…
Off topic but can you help me? How do i setup discord lite on os x 10.5. Like how do i get a proxy working
May I ask, in your opinion, the stronger radio waves like 5G and 6G wifi can hurt cells?
