Hey girl - since last year you can now do a self-testing Pap smears in Australia! Just FYI!! I highly recommend it over the traditional Pap smears…I did it a few months ago and it was very easy. Just ask your GP about it 😊
Do you do it at home and send it in or what happens?
@@melissayoutube You do it at the doctors - so you go in and they give you a swab looking thing and you insert it yourself and just twirl it around for ten seconds or so. You do it in a private room with a nurse on the other side of the curtain for support (like to make sure you do it right or if you have questions) and that’s it! That was my experience anyway :)

I had my first Pap smear 4 years ago and I was really worried about it. I was told at that appointment that my uterus is high and twisted so it would make it a little harder but honestly it wasn’t uncomfortable. For me it was fine and I really think that is also down to the person carrying out the test. She was very reassuring and told me what to expect/ what she was doing before she did it so that really helped. I told her I was nervous before we started and I defiantly recommend telling the person how you’re feeling! I like to think of it as a moment of uncomfortable for a good few years of knowing everything is fine! I wasn’t in pain after and I didn’t have any spotting, I went to work after! Sending all the love and well wishes ❤❤❤❤❤

It shocks me that some places you dont have to get a PAP until you are 25!!! If i didnt get mine when i was in high school I wouldnt have found the cancerous cells, not saying you have ANYTHING to worry about, it just shocks me that some places it is not required until 25
@@annahenderson5385 I suppose in my location it must be a big enough risk that they need to screen you at a younger age because I know so many that have had cancerous cells needing to be removed at way younger than 25 and if it wasn’t caught it would have developed into full blown cervical cancer so I am thankful for the over screening I suppose
Same! I grew up being told Pap smears start at 18 or 21 i got it done at 20 n was told to come back in 2 years
It's bc in Aus we have a vaccination against HPV so if you're vaccinated more protected and don't need the test until 25
