I want to give a big thanks to train world. Fantastic service. Very kind and understanding. I'm having issues with this new big boy, breaks my heart, have to return it, and they have been absolutely incredible throughout the whole process. I will absolutely be purchasing my next train from them, except next time I'm going to ask more questions up front about operational aspects prior to purchase

One thing MTH has been doing that I really like, is including an extra short drawbar to pull the tender in closer. Not everyone needs Railking to run on O31 curves. I have O54 curves, so I still buy Railking articulating engines, but including that short drawbar makes them look more realistic.

Interesting lol. Its one if those things that if you have some friends over that are train fans like yourself. That will know specific details on the big boy for this to be a neat model.

Lol weird how I’m used to seeing 4014’s number boards at the front of the locomotives. I find it weird without it for some reason

Sorry, but I say it as it should be told. We are paying WAY too much for this garbage. Sad but true.

I agree. Read my comments right above. I kinda figure quality model trains are a thing of the past anymore.

@@chrystalsmith8732 , and pre-orders are the oldest scam ever. No thanks

This train refuses to run correctly out of the box. Needless to say I'm extremely disappointed. Upgraded to an 180w transformer and the engine runs intermittent and then doesn't even respond. Just turns off.
The polar Express and Alaska train we have runs flawless and they are heavily used, older trains.
For $800 plus a $325 transformer... I'm irate and my son is dejected, having his dream locomotive basically be a turd that won't operate.
I've not researched MTH engines beforehand, but having since due to this monstrous failure, they apparently they no longer produce high quality machinery for the astounding price of admission.
Very upset after dropping over $1000 for a paper weight

Oh and this has only been used ONCE.
I repeat. ONCE. LITERALLY BROKE ON THE FIRST RUN.

I have 3 other MTH steamers from 15 years ago when Mike ran the place and they've been perfect all along. I ordered the big Boy 3 weeks ago and right out of the box It has a squeak that oil won't fix. Then a week ago the front end maker lights went out, the web site shows a screw in light bulb. I bought 2 more, just took the top off of it and come to find out It doesn't have a light bulb..some kind of LED or lightbulb pair that's connected to the front light..which Is a bulb. The listing of traction tires are not correct either on alot of engines. I've lost all hope with MTH and probably will never buy from them again. I don't see the company lasting much longer with Mike not running the place and Midge not answering the phone like it used to be.@@theworldisastage1984
