On the bench today is a Minitank MAN Multi 1 rocket launcher. It’s a plastic model kit - a first for my channel. And it’s in 1:87 scale - also a first. This is going to be the base upon which the next in my Fury Road vehicles series - the Doof Wagon gets built.
According to the Mad Max Wiki page, the Doof Wagon is the morale machine of Immortan Joe's militia party, intended to rally the troops and keep them pumped up for battle. It’s also a form of psychological warfare, allowing Joe's reputation to literally precede him into battle.
Possibly the most over-the-top and insane contraption of all the Fury Road vehicles, Warner Brothers dubbed it a “sonic carmageddon.” The vehicle is based on a MAN LKW 15 t mil gl KAT I A1 (8x8). It’s a 15 ton class vehicle modified with a wider track of 2,900 mm, that serves as carrier and launching platform of the Roland and Patriot weapon systems. The four-axle truck is powered by a Deutz 8-cylinder diesel engine with 360 hp, turbocharger and intercooler.
This speaker-stacked, guitar-thrashed monstrosity was meant to rally the troops in the way drummers marched with soldiers in ancient battles. It has a mobile stage, a wall of speakers and sub-woofers, and industrial air conditioning ducts meant to drive home the beat of the accompanying Taiko drummers. The Doof Warrior swings from a bungee cord mounted to the overhead tower trusses as he shreds metal, while flames are thrown from a double-necked electric guitar/bass.

Andrew, it’s a triumph! And not a decal to be seen! Really great work. As a Mad Max aficionado, I tip my cap to your commitment to recreating the vehicles as they appeared in the film. All the best to you!
Thanks for the tip of the cap, Tom! This one is probably closest to the film version of all my Fury Road builds. Lots of details, and you're right - not a single decal. Good eye! 🍁👊
I rewatched Fury Road and kept thinking: well, if someone can pull of this build, it’s Andrew!
Thanks for your confidence, Geoff! 🍁👍
South Bend, Indiana. Great job. I enjoy watching scratch building and this is a fantastic example. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it, Larry. Thanks for the nice feedback. Have a great weekend. 🍁👍
Great work as always . Very creative , lots of time , the finish is awesome .
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL .
Mike .
Thank you very much, MIke! Glad you enjoyed the Doof Wagon build. 🍁👊
Super job Andrew. Great craftsmanship and details. Thanks for sharing your builds.
My pleasure, Skip! Thanks for the kind feedback. 🍁👊
A brilliant build Andrew. Look forward to seeing the next Fury road vehicle.
Thanks, Mark. Not sure what's next though. I'll do a couple of these a year. Stay tuned! 🍁👊
Your war machines fleet is getting larger. This was amazing to watch you build. From Jacksonville FL.
Thank you, Cathy. Yes, I need to expand my scorched earth diorama now! It's already full. 🍁😀
You definitely knocked that one way out of the park! Very nice!!
Merci, Bruno! 🍁👍
Now this is so cool! I love the concept of this! Great job as always my friend!
That was a biggie. Took a bit longer than normal, obviously, but great fun to get into a project like this. Now I need a much bigger scorched earth diorama to accommodate the growing fleet! 🍁😀
Incredibly impressive sir. Love it! Fantastic job!
Thank you kindly, Dan! Couldn't do this on a weekly basis, but they're great fun as specials now and then. 🍁👍
Fantastic job great work on the build👊
Cheers🍺🍺 KC Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🤝🇨🇦😎👍
Thanks, KC. Looks good between the War Rig and the Gigahorse. The fleet is growing! 🍁👍
Å werry good build. Love youre eye for details. The fleet is growing....🇳🇴
Thanks, Morten. The fleet has already outgrown my fairly large scorched earth diorama! 🍁😀
Great build!!! Springfield, Oregon United States
Thank you, Scott. I appreciate the kind feedback. Greetings to Springfield from Basel! 🍁👊
Such an incredible build . You do such amazing work Andrew . Absolutely love this and the video . Take care bud
Thanks for the high praise, Chris. It fun to push myself on these now and then. Sure couldn't crank them out weekly! 🍁😂
So cool, Andrew!! This looks like a Hollywood movie prop!!!!!!
Thanks, Rick. I'm waiting by my phone for them to call! 🍁😂
How did I miss this one? Wow! Fantastic!
Thanks, Yannick. That was my big build of the summer. Filling up my Fury Road diorama quickly! 🍁👊
Andrew what a fantastic build brother it looks just like the one from the movie. Great attention to detail my friend. Can't wait to see the next Fury Road build. I'm watching from Utah. USA
Thanks, BJ. It was pretty tough to get all the details in from the movie, but I did my best! 🍁👍
Great job Andrew and looks awesome 👍
Thanks for the kind words, Mark. 🍁👍
@@MapleLeafCustoms you're welcome 😊
That is one daunting build! I can’t get over all of the details!!! Incredible work Andrew! Simply incredible.
Thanks, Geoff! They all add up and make a difference. This one was challenging at 1:87 scale. Some of those pieces were small! 🍁👊
As always, I am in awe of your detail work. Also, I am from Mississippi
Awesome! Thank you, Dave! There is a special satisfaction in finishing this bigger projects. Have a great weekend. 🍁👊
Whoa!! This is beyond words!! That guitar is spectacular!!! I love your Furry Road builds and look forward to each one. Incredible!!!!
Thanks, Leo! It took a bit of an extra effort, but fun all along the way! I'm glad you enjoyed the build and I appreciate the kind words. 🍁👊
Fantastic built! Cograts👍
Thank you, Ale! I appreciate your support. 🍁👍
Lots of time in such detail looks great.

Thanks, James. How are things in Winter Haven after the storm? Hope you're all OK. 🍁👊
Yep.. Wake-up time and time for a cuppa Joe for me too.... Friendly greetings from this South African in my new country... Scotland.
Thanks for all the support, my friend! 🍁☕️

Wow! Loved the fabrication! Great addition to the armada! Thank You
Thanks, Brian. Glad you liked it. My scorched earth diorama is already over crowded. If I had the room I'd make a table top size one. I think the armada is going to continue to grow! 🍁😀
Man, this build was out of the world. I wish I could build like you. Please don't stop building. I watch them all. I am from Mississauga Ont.
Hi, Roy! Thanks for the fine feedback. It's appreciated. Kingston, ON is my hometown. Been in Europe for these many years, having married an Austrian beauty. Wishing you a great 2023. 🍁🇨🇦🦫👊
Love the detail!
Thanks. There's a lot of it. 🍁👍😀
Absolutely Epic build Andrew, the anticipation was definitely well worth it. You nailed the Doof to a tee my friend!! Thanks for sharing the entire Fury Road builds
Thanks so much for catching the premiere, Bruce, I appreciate the kind feedback too! Have a super day. 🍁👊
Your attention to detail is second to none on these builds, Andrew. I wish I had your patience 💯
Thanks, Tina. Patience I've got. That's a good substitute for natural skill! Take care up the highway. It's been a cool weather weekend for us in Basel. 🍁😂 👍
Love the design of the Doof wagon, looks like it's ready to make music on the road, good to go with this project.
Thanks! This was a challenging one. Wish I could have found the base model in a larger scale. 🍁☕️👍
Greetings from Finland, very nice build here Andrew😎👍🏻. Just like in the movie, I imagine this one has taken some time to build.
Hi, Asko! Thanks for your feedback and yes, this was a big build and much more time consuming than normal. But I like to try to do one of these Fury Road film vehicles every couple of months, so I set aside the time for them. Wishing you a fine day today! 🍁👊
Wow!!! One of the coolest builds I’ve seen!! Thank you!
Thanks, Rodney! I'm glad you enjoyed the Doof Wagon build. 🍁👍
Surprisingly, I just watched the Mad Max Fury Road movie last night and my goodness, you arre spot on with this build!! The amount of detail and design you put in to this is outstanding!! A beautiful job, sir!! 👏💖🔥
Awesome! Thank you! I wanted to do this in a larger scale, but that's all I could find. Smaller makes it harder! 🍁☕️😀👊
I've been looking forward to this one for a while and it did not disappoint. Super build!
Thanks so much, Stewart! I'm very glad you enjoyed the video! 🍁👍
you know I was waiting for this one. knocked it outta the park again. all the details and parts are spot on. a true natural with these builds. just like with all your customs it turned out amazing
Thanks again, Neil! Just glad I got this one rolling, with all that stuff up top! Need to build a bigger diorama already too. 🍁👊😀
@@MapleLeafCustoms I saw that coming the diorama was filling up fast before you started this one lol
I am so impressed with how you have built and printed all the parts and supports seats, truss supports, speaker cabinets... Amazing
I definitely made good use of the 3D printer on this one. I think I did 4 different print batches in total... 🍁
@@MapleLeafCustoms Sorry I didn't get to seeing it yesterday... It was a bit of a busy day... Good weather, so I got to do a little touching up of paint and got to supergluing some of my little people back into the track at the fan zones and on the garage diorama at the track finish. My wife caught a couple of magpie birds ripping off the spectators from the track... Funny thing is... I showed my wife... Every single one they tore off... Was a female figure... She wasn't impressed... Haha.
Always Glad to watch your show in bed in the morning before getting out of bed... Gives me a positive start to my day.
Keep well. Stay safe.
Another Outstanding Fury Road build, I can only Imagine the nightmare you realize you got yourself into when you started scratching building/3D printing all the parts for this. In the end it was worth it though with all that beautiful detail you can see from any angle.
Hi John! I knew what I was walking into when I started on this one. There was a lot to do, for sure! The challenge makes it an interesting diversion from my normal stuff. Hopefully entertaining for all the viewers too! 🍁👍
Another outstanding build Andrew. You are a natural at these types of intricate pieces
Thanks, Pete. But it doesn't feel so natural spending all that time trying to un-superglue my fingers at every break! (I actually think these are easier to do than the shiny cars we try to get perfect!). Wishing you a fine NC weekend. Take care! 🍁👊
Biloxi Mississippi but I do wish I could see this build in 125th Great job
Hi, Joe. Yeah, this was a difficult scale to work in. Did my best with what I had though. Wishing you a nice weekend. 🍁👊
This was great!! Absolutely loved the styrene work on those ducts :D
Thanks, KK. That took a lot of super glue, and time... and patience! 🍁😀
Thank God I found this video! Great work, like your details. It's gonna be a such pleasure to see whole movie chase on your table!
I'm making Doof in 1/35 scale now, many steps behind your build...
I'm from Belarus but now had to emigrate to Montenegro because of political situation in there.
Hi, and thanks for visiting my channel. I'm glad you enjoyed the Doof Wagon build. Hope it helps with your own project. It's quite an intricate machine, isn't it?! Hope all is well as you settle in Montenegro. Be safe and healthy! Greetings from Switzerland. 🍁👊👍
Amazing stuff
Thank you, James! 🍁👍
We’re located in Florida. These builds have been amazing. The detail is at the top and it shows. We listened to the podcast that you where on. Diecast breakdown. What an amazing story u told. Been following your channel for some time. Don’t always comment but from listening to the podcast I will comment on everything I watch. Hopefully I can get in on one of your open invitational builds. Keep the great content coming. One of your supporters Anthony
Thank you for the very kind feedback, Anthony! Awesome! Lots of invitationals coming up, so stay tuned. Love to have you join in! Greetings to Florida from Switzerland! 🍁👊
Outstanding work Andrew, great attention to the details, this was a lot of planning and it was well worth the effort 👌.
Excellent
Thanks, Martin. There's a surprising amount of info online for these things. Once you get the schematics to scale, it's very helpful. Still, I like to allow myself some latitude for freelancing bits and pieces. 🍁👍
I just finished my own doofwagon. Decided to completely freelance the design, but still was super happy with it.
Great show!
Great to hear! Freelancing is the way to go. If you try to nail the original, the purists will jump all over every misstep 😀. I've had great fun doing the Fury Road vehicles. It's a nice change of pace and hopefully enjoyable for the viewers too.
That's one awesome wild and loud ride!
Looks great!
Thanks, Jack. It's true. This one might keep the neighbours up at night! 🍁😂
Absolutely fantastic build Andrew! There are two things I wish were different - (1) I wish you would have built it in 1:1 scale, and (2) I wish you would let me then borrow it (Had I watched the video yesterday, my comments would have been different, but I point these two items out after a neighbor had a party with VERY loud music going into the wee hours of the morning...and I would love to be able to drive your Doof Wagon up to their yard this morning and let 'er rip lol)
That'd get their attention. Turn it up to 11! TJim, there are many times I've thought, after watching these post apocalyptic builds, that I had a real one. You know, rear mounted flame throwers, headlight cannons, etc.! 🍁😂
Holy epic build, Andrew! Simply an amazing build.
Thanks, my friend. I enjoyed it doing it, and the other Fury Road vehicles too. Something different to keep things interesting around here! 🍁👍
Epic build Andrew! Fantastic results!
Thanks, Ron. My Fury Road collection may one day be the size of your Batman fleet! Not! 🍁😀
Great custom build. My son and I have just found the Gaslands Refuelled game, so we are looking at lots of inspiration. We enjoy your Mad Max builds a lot. We are in Sweden 🇸🇪
Awesome! I'm glad you've discovered my channel and I hope you enjoy all the builds. Have fun with the game too. Thank you for your kind words. I'm encouraged by that! 🍁☕️👊
You may not realize it now, but this channel is pure awesomeness.
Thanks so much for saying that. Cool! 🍁👊
Those exhausts look so darn good... Wow.
Not exactly like in the film, but close. I like them too! 🍁😀
@@MapleLeafCustoms . Perhaps not the same as the film but they look so darn good Andrew .
Immortal Andrew Master of the Fury Road great fantastic build my friend keep it up can't wait to see the next Fury Road vehicle

You went all out on this one Andrew awesome build my friend !
Thanks, T.J. These few that I've done to date are kind of milestone markers along the way. They're big projects, so only a few a year. Still trying to decide on the next one. Wishing you a nice weekend. 🍁👊

Thanks for watching, Joe. Happy for your ongoing support. 🍁👊
this is honestly so cool, i recently found your channel and binged all of your mad max vids, a car i would love to see the Razor Cola or the people eaters limousine, i love seeing how you make the vehicles really accurate to the movie.
also, Hello from Indiana USA
Hi, and thanks for the kind words. Glad you've seen my Mad Max stable of vehicles. I enjoy doing these. Lots more to come. I've noted your requests! Wishing you a great day. Greetings from Switzerland! 🍁👍
Was looking forward to see this build and WOW. Andrew this build turned out amazing. Doing styrene work is hard enough but doing twice and mirrored WOOOW. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
I'm glad you weren't disappointed. I can see all my mistakes! The styrene work was definitely the most challenging part of this build. Printing 3D parts almost seems like cheating, but there was no other way for this one. Not sure which one will be next. I'll think it over. Lots of Fury Road vehicles left to choose from! 🍁👍
@@MapleLeafCustoms I will never be disappointed with someone's work, maybe sometimes we hit our limits in customizing and it will reflect in the final build, but I would never say that, you don`t have to say that about your customs as well. As for 3D printing, I used to be against it, but know I see it as an aide instead of lack of skill. Can`t wait to see what you come up with next.
I love All of the Roadwarrior movies and you are doing a wonderful job recreating the vehicles!!! I recently got into gaslands! I am in Phoenix Arizona
Thanks, Terry. I like the movies too. It's been challenging and fun to work my way through the fleet. Next on the agenda is the People Eater's Limousine with a nice Benz up front. 🍁☕️👊
Stunning work Andrew!!
Cheers, Marc D
Thanks, Marc! It's fun to put something extra into one of these builds, now and then. 🍁👊
New sub here, tennesee born, raised in u.k.! Im a warhammer build/painter but not player! Past military modeler too,im in process of revamping my hobby space so im in limbo as far as my stuff is boxed up as i redo shelves and storage etc and came across you as i looked at maybe throwing some gaslands cars together as they arent too involved and equipment and paint heavy to do.
Ive got to say im now 100% building a war rig and few other mad max vehicles to adorn my shelves! You sir have inspired me!! Lol! That rig and doofwagon are excelent builds. Im strugling to find a sleeper cab type of truck, seem to be more flat nose cab over type units over here! But ill get there, maybe use an army unit, scammel or whatever and extend chassis and cab? Ill have to see, only just begun to look so patience/virtue etc!.
Thanks for the videos maybe i can post a short on youtube once im done for you to see!
Cheers!
It took me a while to get into the Fury Road builds, but I was instantly hooked after the War Rig. You'll have a ball. I'd really like to see your pics or a short video. Have fun with it! 🍁☕️

That is pretty freaking awesome Andrew. 👌
Thanks, Big C. I guess I'll keep working my way through the movie vehicles. They're a fun change from the regular stuff. 🍁👍
Absolutely savage!! Following from ft myers Florida. Love your dedication to the projects! I get discouraged if I can’t knock out a project in 1 afternoon.
Hi Aaron! I've become a very patient man with this hobby. Especially doing these bigger projects. That's why I only do a couple of them a year. They really do take a long time! But there's satisfaction in finishing them too. Glad you enjoyed it. Greetings to Ft. Myers (I know it well) from Basel, Switzerland. 🍁👊
Immortal Joe would give you a steering wheel, a can of silver paint and 2 thumbs up. It came out great.

Amazing work! It definitely puts my doof wagon I built to shame.
Don't say that. I'm sure yours reflects who you are. Mine isn't exactly true to the movie version. I did quite a bit of freelancing here and there. As long as we're all having fun with it, right? 🍁😀👍

I was thinking about that too. Stay tuned! 🍁👍
such doof, awesome build! :D so much scratchbuild work... oh my! but to me it looks fairly accurate, and full of details. ^^
ah, RoCo Minitanks. they've been doing these military models for ages now. they have been pretty detailed from the beginning, too, when any other brand, if ever, simplified wherever possible. or fiddled with the scale. (though the panzer tracks are still hollow from the inside, but there)
I tried ebay for any casting of this truck, but the only alternative would have been a 1:35 scale kit by Revell. mayyyybe there was some 1:50 scale thing by Conrad, but I doubt it. funky, because Technisches Hilfswerk and some firefighters used the civilian version of this truck, too.
anyway. what you had on the Bench (tm) IS actually a Escort Mk4 RS2000, while your ad showed Sierra RS Cosworth. did they use the wrong images on correct castings?
btw, I found a nice hot wheels Sierra RS Cosworth casting, showed up at a chain of cheapo stores called TeDi, or at least near my place. Freiburg should have one of those, too, maybe you're lucky when hunting for new castings.
I actually had a couple of viewers take on the challenge of helping me find the MAN Multi in diecast and the closest we got was a Welly Armor Squad at 1:60 (they also have a 1:35 scale) but it was only a 6 axle and I wanted the 8X8 from the movie. That was also more expensive, and the shipping was way too high... So the Minitanks is a bit smaller than my other Fury Road builds, which was challenging, but not too far off. I found the Hot Wheels Sierra Cosworth at Tedi in Weil am Rhein recently. Plastic base. The Greenlight cars I'm using (got them in Canada) are metal base and are the hardest castings I've ever tried to take apart. Struggling with the paint work today. Lots more miniature decals... Wow, what a hobby! 🍁😂
@@MapleLeafCustoms what I seem to remember from Conrad was a 6x6 too, so there. :)
Hot Wheels made a Escort RS2000 rallye, too, but with the headlights battery on the front, and the high spoilers, which weren't always mounted. found one in gold long ago, the only one where the tampos came off with lighter fluid...
yeah, tuning up tiny model cars is a fiddly hobby for sure. my late brother used to collect 1:285 military stuff in pewter. every carpet is hungry for the smaller items. XD
Hi Andrew great job on the wagon. I love Gasland Build if you haven’t already I would check out the grasslands rulebook for inspiration. I also want to let you know to keep an eye out for Aiden’s adventures custom builds, but not sure if I’m going to be working with diecast cars. But I’m hoping to build up my bets box and start scratch building. Again it will take a while but I’ll make sure to upload some of my builds on my TH-cam channel, so keep an eye out😊🎉
Hi Aidan! Thanks for watching. I've never played Gaslands, but have a few pages of the rule book that viewers have sent me. Looks interesting. I'm thinking of doing some kit bashing in the near future for something different. I'm following a couple of TH-cam channels where guys make Star Wars type spacecrafts out of spray bottles and junk. Looks fun. I'll be looking out for your stuff on your channel. There are no mistakes. Only happy little accidents. Have fun with it! 🍁👍

I applaud your dedication to the Doof Wagon. Surely, a feat to take on. Awesome scratch building, and attention to detail! Wondering why you left the hubs green, and the details on the speakers seem a bit unfinished to my eye. Looking over screenshots of the Doof Wagon, you hit all the major points, and I did notice there isn't a lot of rust on the real one, but I feel like a bit more rust and weathering would have taken this build to the moon. Hope that was respectful enough, as my crits are just that, mine.....lol. Still an amazing addition to your Fury Road collection. Can't wait to see the "The Peacemaker" soon! ☠
Thanks for taking the time to leave an insightful comment, Jamie. It was a big project and my own list of mistakes and oversights is quite long. As always, so many things could have been done better. Do you know a good place to buy resin printer parts so I don’t have a 3-D printer? It’s exciting to get into building models it’s just hard to get materials low budget. Do you know any good places for plastic bits?
I'd do an eBay search for that kind of thing. There are lots of guys who produce these and sell them. Your advantage is being in the States. For me, the overseas shipping is wicked, which is why I bought a 3D printer. I think it's already paid for itself! 🍁👍
If you’re looking for scratch builders. I recommend Bill making stuff , Byline hobby time and Gamey builds. They’re all really good builders and I have learned a lot from them.
@@aidansadventures7651 I follow Bill already. I'll check out the others too. Thanks for the tip, Aidan! 🍁

Thank you, Dane. Glad you like the Doof Wagon. 🍁👍
Bombastic build 🤪 great job! 👍
Could you imagine the work without a 3d-printer? 😅
Which casting did you use for the stage?
Thank you, Yves. Without a 3D printer, I wouldn't have even thought about doing this one. That would be way beyond my abilities! By the stage, do you mean the front end of the car between the speakers? In the movie it was a Holden FJ. Mine was a '57 Chevy! Take care and enjoy the weekend. It's cool in Switzerland now.🍁👊
I knew you were gonna nail this Andrew. That looks awesome, I love the fury rig, but all of them are on point, exceptional work my friend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍✌😁
Thanks, James! I appreciate the kind words. It's certainly a change of pace from the regular customs! Fun to dive into these big projects every now and then. 🍁👊
