That auction was the most disgusting display of US mint greed and disdain for their customer base that I have ever seen. open your eyes. This was a pure money grab benefiting the super rich.
My primary question is did the US Mint follow US contracting law when choosing an auctioneer? If they didn’t, every small business auctioneer in the U.S. should be able to sue the mint for lost profits. Perhaps there is a smart attorney in our group looking for a class action lawsuit?
Good Morning Mr Stacker! I really appreciate this video! The rich bulk dealers should not have access to ANY coins ahead of the public... they can choose any label they want... depends on the price point that they choose.. they always get the special coins as well... One bulk dealer had Eleven Silver Flowing Medals with the privy mark for sale! What are the odds in that? And the general public has to pay multiple prices to get one of them. Only a few lucky people got them from the Mint through random distribution...We had no shot at the gold privy mark coins. Its very frustrating to me... something should be done about this. So I agree with you on everything in your video!! Just Saying!! Have a Great Day My Friend!! ✌️
Holding the special coins for themselves to make profit and sell to the richest is definitely messed up I think they did a good job with the silver privy allowing people the chance to get one but also maybe not sell things like that ahead of time to big bullion companies if they keep doing this their gonna inflate coin collecting
perhaps not removed but at the very least director Gibson should take a review of this release and the comments and rethink the mints position in the future.
I agree with the sentiment that this release should give preference to average Joe, who buys coins and supports the Mint faithfully. Instead this was a cash grab for flippers and dealers. Not cool at all. I also think that privy will soon be an old news, limited editions are only limited if they are truly limited. When everything gets privy that's devalue the concept. I am not happy with what the Mint is doing now and will definitely put break on my purchases.
The Royal Canadian Mint’s Masters Club program gives collector members early access to new releases. I’m gold, so I get 4 days early access along with free shipping and other perks. Plus your membership level carries over into the next calendar year. The more I learn about the Royal Canadian Mint, the more I realize I typically get screwed by the U.S. Mint.
I'm not sure what a " regular collector " is any more...as a matter of fact, I'm not sure what a regular "anything or anyone" is ...times are different now, but I hope the basics are still the same...
According to Google the title 'Honorable' simply means that they are an elected or appointed official. You could correctly call the local dog catcher 'Honorable'. Just seems its a personal preference.
I caught a silver privy and not happy with how the gold sorted out. One thing I like about how the mint being run is the openness regarding government existing for the wealthy. Historically this is the way and it's nice to see them being open about it. A Washington using the military to collect taxes coin would be even relevant and document the true history of The United States.
Thank you SSS! ABPP was initiated under Ryder (inducted 2018 with approval by Trump), but I don't believe any current or future director is anything but a figurehead. Trump will privatize the postal service and ABPP certainly seems to be a privatization movement with increasing allocations going from 10% to 20% and likely beyond.
It can be found on the mint website, Press Release March 19, 2021 United States Mint Announces New Authorized Bulk Purchase Program. Read and contemplate this on the tree of woe 😭. 10, 20, 30% or more the bloody ABPP will be rolling up its score.
I also am close to retirement and did get a privy silver medal...best $104 that I ever spent...am waiting to get it back from NGC...I have been collecting since being a milk monitor on 1964 and 1965. I collected milk money from my classmates in grade school...usually dimes nickels and quarters, and was allowed by the principal to count, roll and tally junk silver...and I was allowed to replace the rolls with Fiat collected from birthday money and proceeds from a paper route....needless to say, I consider those days for an even exchange of 90% silver with fiat to be the 'Glory" days... For icing on the cake, in 6th grade at the same school, I found a 1914-D Lincoln cent near home plate in the baseball diamond on a walk that I took during recess...in about Very Fine shape. I still have a 1 oz Engelhard ingot that I bought for $2.58...looks like a curb that you would see in a parking lot...I have never seen one since at any coin shop...maybe , they were all melted down...I don't know....Everyone needs to motivate themselves to get out there and do...because it is in the doing that magical things happen...
I kind of hope someone like Scottsdale Mint bought the flowing hair gold and the die. Instead of a museum, this way someone could make more coins to sell. A unique way to get a coin.
I love the US Mint. I would love to see the good ol' US of A get back to a gold & silver backed currency. I wonder how that would shake things up at the mint. My main gripe with the mint is they are way to high priced compared to current spot prices. Looking forward to 2026!
SSS(Mint Master) Good Morning . I feel that the mint has over stepped is bounds . The mint should not be doing Auctions . The Mint should of released the Gold Privy with the other Gold Coins . Good morning 🪨🗝️🦸🏻♂️⭐1 The Mint is using the minting presses to "fix and cover-up" their mistakes, instead of fixing their mistakes the way they should and they know it. That's the real tragedy here. ✌🏻🤓🥤
I agree 👍🏻 The wealthy could have had an equal chance as everyone else if the Mint had dispersed the FHG privy online. Instead the Mint took away any chance from 99.9% of the public by doing an auction the way they did. The Woke Mint has no shame. Absolutely disgusting, no two ways about it.
I love the mint. People have a choice. to be fair or narcissistic, especially in this occultic computer age. They are obviously faced with dismal sales. But closed the year in great position/

Collecting coins has gotten much worse in last 25 years. Way to expensive.
This auction was unwarranted and disrespectful to us loyal mint customers. Shame on the greedy mint!

The mints coins keep going up in price, which makes you wonder if they are worth collecting.

Thought the mint had a mandate stating the price they can charge over spot... was the auction legal?
Serious question- can someone explain.
📖👈🏻🤨 Good idea.💡 I'd like to hear that explained too.

The mint has put the haves against the have not's. Prices are a bit high also!
I watched the whole auction live and was shocked at the prices. Essentially all 70s went for 35k roughly and and 69s went for 29k.
Great video today too. I was wondering how much they raked in on that sale. If you ask me. Way to much of what's going on at the mint is shady!
Shady enough to push me out.
Good morning and Happy Saturday my friend. First day off in 2 weeks lol. It's like 5 degrees at my house. Too cold!

Good for the mint helping lowering the deficit off the backs of some fat cats. No other government agency does it.
You should figure out what the profits are for a mint release for the bulk purchasers. Just to see if it is worth it to join.
The average collector will remain a have not until there is change at the mint.

🤢 inducing auction. I’ll remember this big fat middle finger as I will not renew this year’s canceled subs, looks like it’s staying shut.
What is the ABPP? It is dangerous to assume a casual collector knows the jargon and acronyms.

The Royal Mint is better.
The person who bought it could resell it in a few months for even more money.
