In this video you hear clearly the noise of the steam synchronized with the movement of the locomotive. Mine has not this steam sound synchronised. I did start the steam. You can trigger (start) a few sounds like the water pump. I pretty sure it is some CV to change ..
Hm. That doesn't sound good, but can't answer about those CV values myself, since I have been lucky in mine that they actually do synchronise. A problem I noticed years after the review is that the two I've used both periodically shut the steam off o_0 (not due to current loss). I hope you find a fix!
What radius are you running? Have you had any problems with the half doors between the lok and the tender catching? I am using the recommended min radius of 1020mm (5935) and even the slightest entry into this curve causes the door on the inside curve to ram against the details on the inside of the tender. ...... AND when reversing. the door on the outside curve does not "re-nest" inside tender, but rather resets to the outside of the tender.....
In the video, it only ran on 1.394 mm radius, but it also works on 1.020 mm. Regarding the outside door, I have the same problem as you, but the inside door seems to adjust itself just fine by the use of the spring. What is less cool, however, is that the decoder seems to be faulty (Märklin themselves had the same problem at Sinsheim 2014): Randomly, it will stop emitting smoke from the chimney, or just not blow smoke out of the cylinders and steam pipe. I get the impression this does not happen with my model, if it has sufficient smoke liquid, but I am not sure exactly how (if) it can be fixed without a possible flash or similar software upgrade, or worse: hardware fix.
Spur1Denmark Thanks for your report... I have not yet put smoke fluid in mine because I thought I would need to return my unit (from California!).... but now I will test that part too! My dealer in Germany has spoken to the Marklin 1 gauge Product Manager and here is his report: "Now I talked the important gauge 1 manager at Märklin. He knows it and they will find a solution for that problem at the next four weeks. At the moment they make some tests if the new doors will work better. I think I will inform you if the new will work better. After I know how they want to change the doors I will inform you and you decide if you want change the doors yourself or if you want ship them back." At least they have acknowledged the problem... I am afraid I don't know. It's the original Märklin loudspeaker, which would be in the tender, and I have not opened the model to take a look. You could try writing Märklin, but they are usually not replying to e-mails. Or maybe it helps if you write it in German?
