- Even tough Märklin has announced the new construction of this 1-gauge model not until end of January 2019, its delivery startet end of mai 2019. Das Maerklin-model in scale 1/32 with Article-Numerber 55681 in Europa has a list price of 3499,99 Euro. The model has a lenght of 626 millimeters and a weight of 6,5 kg.
The original is one of the third series of swiss crocodile-locomotives (type Ce 6/8 III ) which was delivered in 1926 and 1927 to swiss railway-company SBB. Märklin realised the locomotive with the official operation number 14305 in state of the years 2018/2019 which is in 2019 sometimes on special rides in switzerland. This museum-locomotive is owned by the "Stiftung Historisches Erbe der SBB" (SBB Historic) and is in operation and maintenance bei the society "Verein Krokodil 14305".

There are only small differences to the actual state of the original locomotive because Märklin realized the painting of the model like railway epoch 4. The main differences to the 2019 original are handle bars in yellow (instead of black), lamp casings in grey (instead of black) and the revision labeling (in white instead of yellow).
The model has a mulitprotocol-digital-decoder for mfx, DCC and Motorola and also can be operated with an analogous AC-transformer. With mfx the model has 32 digital functions - who are all to see and hear in my video.
For a story in the german journal "Eisenbahnmagazin" I had end of mai 2019 a loan production model from Märklin - on this occasion I also made this very detailed unboxing-review-video for my TH-cam-Channel. Ich bin seit heute stolzer Besitzer einer solchen Lokomotive. Bezahlt habe CHF 3290 bei einem Fachhändler im Kanton ZH, also knapp 3000€. Insgesamt ein stimmiges und wunderschönes Modell, jedoch verstehe ich nicht warum Märklin die Laternen innen Weiß statt Silber, wie beim Vorbild, realisiert haben. Das wäre sicher mit wenig Aufwand machbar gewesen. Der Lokführer mit dem Hut ist auch komplett daneben und passt eher in einer LGB Stainz Spielzeuglok. Vielen Dank für das super Video. Ich habe es mir bestimmt 5 mal angesehen bevor ich es gekauft habe.
3000€ ist aber ein stolzer Preis. Manche kaufen sich dafür einen Gebrauchtwagen.
Ich weiß garnicht wie ich auf dieses Video gestoßen bin. Was für ein beeindruckendes Modell und sehr gutes Video! Da bekommt man richtig Lust die Modelleisenbahn wieder mal aufzubauen... ;)
Das ist einfach eine tolle Lok. Ich stehe eigentlich nur auf Dampflok´s, aber ein Krokodil geht einfach über alles!

Ich verstehe einfach nicht warum es Märklin bei so tollen Modellen einfach nicht hinbekommt einen vernünftigen Ton zu generieren. Da klingt selbst eine Dose Mais besser.
Wenn man Ton über ein Kamera micro aufnimmt klingt das immer schlecht in echt klingen die lautsprecher sehr viel besser das kannst du ja mal ausprobieren wenn du über einen Lautsprecher musik abspielst und das mit deinem handy aufnimmst dann klingt das auch nicht so gut
Zyklonio Märklin hinkt in Sachen Geräuschen gegenüber Kiss massiv hinterher.

Bei Märklin arbeiten offensichtlichen Soundidioten. Ich nenn den Sound nur noch Samba-Dickie Töne.
Für Realismuss ist eine tiefere untere Grenzfrequenz erforderlich und dafür braucht man eine große Membranfläche und keine akustischen Kurzschluss. Und die bekommt man nicht unter in dem kleinen Modell. Glauben Sie bloß nicht, dass ein rel. guter Laptop-/IPad-Lautsprecher von z.B. Apple in so einem Modell echter klingen würde. No way.

TH-cam took me here after watching a Lego Krokodil video. I need to emphasize I am only very modestly interested in models of trains (I already have hobbies which take way too much space - Lego and vinyl records). Yet, somehow I just spent 17 minutes watching this excellent review of something quite fantastic, which I will possibly never have or even consider to buy. Hats off, sir, this is how it's done.

sehr beeindruckende Lokvorstellung. Optisch mega anzusehn. Soundmässig aber nicht wirklich berauschend....für den Preis hätte ich mehr erwartet. Da können andere Hersteller leider immer noch mehr!
Danke für die netten Worte zu meinem neuesten Unboxing-Video. Was die Geräusche angeht - ja, da könnte man sicher noch was verbessern - aber das gilt eigentlich auch für die meisten anderen Hersteller von Spur 1-Loks. Was die Lautstärke angeht - die habe ich beim Krokodil ein Stück zurückgenommen, weil ich sonst mit meiner Stimme nicht mehr hätte dagegensetzen können.
Der Sound kommt einfach von einem sehr kleinen Lautsprecher.
Vielleicht könnte Märklin einfach bessere Lautsprecher einbauen.
Heute ist der Sound bei Flachbild Fernseher teilweise auch furchtbar.

There are also some 1-gauge fans in the USA who can probably also buy models there from corresponding dealers or on the Internet.
Well that's an unusual Statement; to me it always seemed like many Americans hate Electric Locomotives.
Would have loved to hear this in English, but, enjoyed it anyway. Crazy looking train. I'm not a model train enthusiast, but like to watch model train videos.

Das ist ein älterer Rollenprüfstand "Vario Rotary", den SMT mal gebaut hat. Der Inhaber des Kleinbetriebs ist allerdings inzwischen seit einigen Jahren im Ruhestand und hat deshalb die Produktion eingestellt.
Vielleicht erfüllen ja die neue angekündigten "Funktionsvitrinen" von Märklin einen ähnlichen Zweck!?

Awesome locomotive, one of my favorites, and in such big scale it is amazing by the level of detail. Just wonder why the front leading wheels also turn on the rollers, I thought these were unpowered.
The front wheels are unpowered, but I have a roll test stand with a belt at the backlside for all roller-units and with a driving wheel at one roller for each wheel. So the presentation of locomotives on a roll-test-stand looks more realistic.

Hallo aus Holland. Tolles Model. Wie komt es das die Vorlaufräder drähen wenn die Loc auf den Rollprüfstand steht?
Ich habe einen Rollenprüfstand "Vario Rotary", der mal vor langer Zeit von SMT gebaut wurde ... bei dem sorgt ein auf der Rückseite angebrachter feiner Zahnriemen, dass für jede Achse eine der Rollen mitgedreht wird. Allerdings erfordert dies eine sehr sorgfältige Justierung der Rollenlager und funktioniert deshalb nicht immer zuverlässig.

Zuerst dachte ich so: Whoa, 3500€ is echt heftig. Dann hab ich gesehen, was man heutzutage mit den Modellen durch das ganze digitale Zeug alles machen kann, da erscheinen die 3500 doch schon gerecht. Für das Geld bekomme ich aber einen kompletten High-End PC mit aktueller TOP-Hardware und 4K Bildschirm oder einen kleinen Gebrauchtwagen... verdammt teures Hobby!
Ich habe im Regal noch eine 20 Jahre alte Märklin H0 Dampflok und eine ebenso alte E-Lok stehen und wenn ich mir so aktuelle Preise anschaue, werden das auch die einzigen Modelle bleiben.
Wobei H0 Lokomotiven kleiner sind und maximal ca. 1/7 von dieser großen Spur 1 Lok kosten. Die Neukonstruktionen in der Spur H0 brauchen sich vor nichts zu verstecken. Ich glaube, dass Spur 1 nur so teuer ist, weil es ein Nischenmarkt ist. Niemand hat wirklich so viel Platz für so große Fahrzeuge. Da sind die Schienen in H0 günstiger als in 1 oder z

I don't think so. The sounds of the locomotive are awful, you are paying 3500 euro for a premium and perfect product, but they used the same sounds with that 1/2 second loop, and also the speaker sounds like crap. But i can't deny that the details on the locomotive are awesome.
I can buy so much more for 3500€... a good used car, food for over a year or you can rent a flat for over 5 months. I just don't understand why everything is so expensive nowadays. And yes it's a great model and I'am a fan of model railroading myself but it's just too expensive some times
It doesn't matter how many features it have. To be pragmatic it's just a 3,5k€ useless toy. I have to admire looks great, though.
Does it have 1 or 2 motors? What are the main differences with 55563, besides all metal construction?
The prototype of the Märklin 55563 is a Ce 6/8 II and the locomotive presented in my video corresponds to the Ce 6/8 III. It therefore has, among other things, a different length and a different prototype drive linkage design. In addition to the complete locomotive body, most of the small parts on the 55563 were made of plastic. In addition, this model did not yet have any electrically operated pantographs, no telex couplings, no energy buffer to bridge power interruptions and also significantly fewer light and sound functions.
Both locomotives have a motor in each bogie. However, the drive axles of the 55563 were still moved by gears in the chassis. The current model 55681 is driven directly from the jackshaft via the drive linkage to the drive wheels. The coupling wheels are then driven by the driving wheels via coupling rods.

The drive via a gear drive for all axles was common in the 1-gauge area a long time ago. However, this hinders a clear view of the chassis, which is usually very delicate today. In addition, such a gear drive is anything but quiet. That is why the wheels of many locomotives are now driven directly via the coupling rods. I don't see any difference in traction. However, thanks to the metal construction, today's locomotives are much heavier than the earlier plastic construction locomotives and are therefore also much more powerful.

Maßstab und Spur stehen doch sowohl im Video-Beschreibungstext als auch im Videotitel und man sieht doch auch den Größenvergleich mit meinen Händen beim Auspacken. Aber falls Sie Nicht-Modellbahner sind: H0 hat den Maßstab 1:87 - die Spur 1-Modelle im Maßstab 1:32 sind damit 2,7 mal so groß, wie H0-Modelle.

1:87 16,5 mm H0
1:120 12 mm TT

This makes me wish that US 1:32 Manufacturers made models to the same quality as Märklin.... But I don't think that we have enough model railroaders in general not to mention in G scale. Especially considering it's $5k+

Yes, gauge 1 models are general in 1/32 scale. You also can read this in my subtitles and video decriptions in English.
Gauge G has the same track distance of 45 mm, but the models have scales between 1:22.5 and approx. 1:29 - depending on the model (narrow gauge or standard gauge).
