I am considering Zeekr 7X, but also the XPeng G9 and the Cadillac Lyriq. Have sat in the G9 (at the Sydney Expo) and the Lyriq (at Cadillac show room in Rosebery, Sydney). The Lyriq will be available for test drives and sale early next year, while the Chinese are, at best, at the end on '25, or in '26 I believe.
I am loving the Lyriq - the size and style are quite distictive and impressive. It's got that WOW factor when you look at it. Inside is very well appointed too. Importantly, it has been out in the US for over a year and the GM has had time to adress the initial software issues. I am looking forward to test-driving it!

That colour is stunning. I like those rims too, best OEM design I've seen in ages - especially on an EV. Also glad to see it has a physical shade for the glass roof. Those shadeless design roofs look cool, but they are impractical for Australian summers.

Wow. The first Chinese car and first electric car that I would buy in a heartbeat. Just stunning. Sorry to be a safety-nerd though, but thing that occurred to me - how would those awesome fold out rear tables interact with a torso and head in a decent sized prang? Even when latched close, they would probably unlatch and fall open mid-collision (gloveboxes always seem to). Having seen plenty of IIHS crash testing, I suspect they'd do a fair bit of damage to the rear seat passengers.

Impressive for the indicative cost. Now for some practicalities... Who will distribute this vehicle? What is their local track record of supporting customers post-sale? How long will owners have to wait for replacement components/panels/doors/etc in the event of an accident? Who will be willing/qualified to work on them? How will insurance companies be able to set attractive premiums for a car/vendor/importer with no local history?

I watched an early review on this car a few months ago by Gilevich Sergey and was extremely impressed. Its got a bit of Porsche Cayene about it too. Now im confused between this and the Genesis GV70 which is also beautiful. Although not electric. I wish they offered a proper hybrid type as well like the Toyotas do. Regardless this thing will kick ass im sure. Electric cars will offer great value on depreciation within a year or two.

The bling is bedazzling but what is it really like under the paint? Is the design and engineering up to par? Are the fasteners, materials and manufacturing up to standard? These new manufacturers are popping up everywhere and I for one would like to see many millions of miles travelled before considering one.

It looks great inside and out, and may be on my list as a replacement for my SL6. Pricing might be an issue though. I'd prioritize range and of-road ability ahead of alleged luxuries like "massaging seats". (My wife and I tried them in an Outlander and thought they were hopeless.) The giganta-HUD in the 7X sounds interesting and perhaps very useful. 7 seat vehicles are often tedious with cramped and uncomfortable rearmost seats, though I do enjoy seeing larger reviewers contort themselves to get in there (one with initials PM in particular😉), but the end result is always that same: poor comfort, no leg space, no toe room, poor ventilation. So, give me better luggage space in a comfortable 5-seat vehicle every time. I also think that right now, a lot are looking at the Shark, waiting to see what its off-road abilities are like in the production version, and that might have a bearing on the success of the 7X.

Its the software and how the car performs that should be the focus for EV reviews rather than on map pockets and cup holders . Thats hard to do in a controlled environment but Chinese EVs struggle to keep the cars speed around bends with cruise activated, have issues with bms at low soc, some are restricting the number of DC chargers per day as they dont manage the battery temp that well. Slow screen responds times, and for navigation and some dont even show soc on arrival or range!!! Others are known to bounce between the lanes with lane keep assist on and others pulsate as it tries to maintain the set speed.
The software may guess the range and hide the efficiency during a trip as it fails to accurately determine the range when the conditions change. If most of your driving is around town then less emphasis on those points above, it comes down to AC chargering speeds and how well the car manages the compulsory safety warnings.
EVs can be rushed to market with flaws with promises of a software release will address that in the future. I don't see a lot of Chinese EV makers spending a lot of resources in that area when most are struggling to make a profit

Oooo so many to choose from. How about (just to get started) some of the less common ones like the new Peugeot partner and/or Renault Kangoo (long and short wheel base). Apparently also LDV are releasing a refreshed G10+ with new styling and safety features in early 2025. How about the upper end of the market like the current generation Mercedes Benz Vito 116 mid spec.
