I have both the blue and purple previous models. 100% they both need lead tape. ****The purple Connor Garnett provides more spin and has a rougher surface!!! ** I am referring to the previous model not this new one. Perhaps I can pick your brain about this - My game is more about finesse than power, but everybody around me are blasting. I am not strong, and I use the Luxx. I am in love with its control, but when a justified ‘smash’ is called for, I can’t really finish the point, it comes out lame and my opponents always manage to return. I also own the DBD 16mm, I gave it a go and it really improved my game on the power aspect, but the two issues I have with it - the sweet spot is not as forgiving (as the Luxx) and although with the DBD I do manage to finish points way more easily - it’s too head-heavy for my hand and I end up with wrist pain as I am trying to always get back to ready-position. I held and dinked with a friend’s new Joola Perseus after seeing him trying it out for the first time (so many balls were OUT, but I am sure there’s a learning curve to it). I must say - I was SO impressed with its balanced feel in my hand. I don’t have double handed shots, my hands are quite small and I am 5”1. Small handles don’t scare me (; I am eying a few paddles now - maybe you’d have some input for me? - ProXR sweet spot max 16mm. - Joola Scorpeous 16mm. - Joola Magnus 16mm (I fancy the idea of a short handle and more reach (as it is elongated and I am short) - but I don’t know if this shape would make it significantly more head heavy than the well-balanced Perseus I held. - Paddletek alw-c 14.3. - Head Radical Tour Raw / Nite Thoughts? Great for dubs stock, although heavier spin can be achieved with weight at mid throat to 3 and 9 o’clock, especially for dinking. Needs about 6g for singles. Tried Alshon’s setup. Too much weight for me. Outstanding paddle and review. I have all models, all benefit from some added weight.
