If I would have known about this trimming function it would have saved alot of swearing and trying to figure out what the heck is wrong. I even thought the shifter was acting like it was for a triple crank which I still have on a couple road bikes. Perfect explanation too, multiple shifts from different angles, wow, best explanation of an issue I have seen on TH-cam. Thank you so much. Another reason for derailleurs to go back to friction.
Thank you for your great video. I`ve actually tried to set my front derailleur weeks and weeks not knowing about trim functionality. I have gave up in the end took it to bike mechanic to get the set my front derailleur. Then they have told me about this. So I was probably set my front derailleur at the first place correctly not knowing this function.
Thank you very much for this video. You explained it way better than other videos. I didn't realize you had to trim the FD with the big lever first. I was trying to trim just using the small lever and it kept jumping into the small ring and I thought i was doing something wrong, lol.
I've been riding my bike with Shimano 6500 shifters for 19 years and NEVER knew about this. It always shifted perfectly and I knew to avoid cross shifting. Just recently realized that it had this trim feature while trying to adjust a friends bike with Sora. Great video, thanx for the tip.
Of all the years I've been riding road bicycles, and never understood why my front derrailleur had 2 clicks to get it from small c/ring to large c/ring. I try not to cross chain when cycling, so wont try trimming to facilitate what is a "nasty sin" ie cross chaining. Thankyou for this explanation. Learnt something today.
Thanks for.the explanation! I've recently set up my r7000 front derailleur. I get good movement going from top into t-trim and from t-trim back into into top, a small amount of movement of the front derailleur going from low into L-trim but if I try to return from L-trim back into low like in the video the derailleur doesn't move. Is this normal?
I had a Campagnolo 11s athena and after realizing it doesn't need trim, but can use ALL combinations without rub, I question why I always needed this on Shimano...

Thank you for this explanation will make riding my Trek even more enjoyable I would never have discovered this in 100 years had I not seen your video
Great vid just got 1st road bike didn’t know about this thanks 👍

I am so glad i found your video!!! What a brilliant explanation about simple things that were unclear for me 15 years.

Best explanation of this feature I had no idea existed. Thanks!
This is the best video I've encountered that explains this feature. Thank you!
Jeez, I'm fully aware of the trim function but never thought to use it!!!!!! Thanks for posting this :-)
Well explained as I just had to do some trimming on my brand new bikes front derailleur. Thanks for the info.
Very well explained and helpful. Thanks for posting!
My bike mech told me about this yesterday, hadn't a clue... Had to look it up for more detail on its use... Good video well explained
Really helpful video - thank you!
Never knew of this feature, assuming it exists with my 23 year old Shimano group set. Great video lesson…thank you!
I had no idea this was a thing, thank you!
2:30 this is called outward trim right ? Which is basically a little extra shift which makes the derailleur move away from the frame
Never knew that. Thanks

Is it normal that trimming does not work with the smaller gear?
I'm having the same issue with my 105, did you found a solution?
I cannot undo the trim on my 105. Please help
Im a self proclaimed cross chain kinda guy. Finally...the double click is the way to do it correct.
Nice one.
