Best part of these hilltop towns are the views. And the breeze…! A farm would be nice but then you are in the flats. BTW…. You are such a consistent viewer and commenter when you do make it to Italy I’d be happy to show you around this area. It would be super educational for you and your little guy to learn about the area and fun to make a video of real people going through the real process. (And Yes Anna from LA I’m just waiting for the call so I can show you around too! 😎)
Thank you! I”m constantly watching Italian home and town tours but this is the first one I’ve seen detailing what a healthcare experience might look like and cost if living there. Great content.
The "drive-in shower" is actually a roll in wheelchair shower, in a handicapped accessible bathroom. Being a quadriplegic myself, I remember the complete lack of wheelchair accessibility in European cities, so I would have thought you'd of focused more on such a specialized modification.
I hope you feel well soon! The property is appears, modern, crisp and clean. Very well done! The projects left to do appear easy. Paint to taste. Kitchen and bathroom are on the to do list. Cantinas could be future projects. Hello to Ollie and you! THANK YOU!
You present great information and insights into your videos. Great inclusion of a doctors office. I also love the tours through the town.. I think you do the best videos !
Thanks for this video. I appreciate the walk around town so we get a sense of what every day living would be like. Also, I appreciated the insight and video of the healthcare situation; very helpful. Hope you are feeling better.
Howdy from north Texas! We enjoy the walk-arounds too. Gives us an idea of the surrounding area and community. We are of a certain age where health care is a concern, especially for me. This house is actually in quite habitable condition. That terrace is the bomb! I think if the 2nd floor is reworked a bit this could make an awesome single-family home. P.S. Hope you get to feeling better.
Thank you for taking the time to share your personal experience with Italy doctors and health care. I just went on Medicare and our private insurance is $97.00 a month sponsored by a major oil company. Yes, we are very fortunate. We also live in Texas, in the hill country, on 10 acres and our home/property accessed value is just over $1.0 million. Our yearly school and property tax before the new increase in homestead exemption is $7500.00 a year, so we don’t complain but I definitely understand your numbers. We had similar numbers in New York. I am working on my dual citizenship as I have Italian ancestry and hope to make another trip over to Italy next year. Will be in touch. Many thanks for all you effort. Cindy
As a Canadian, I'm used to Universal Healthcare, but I am not eligible for a private healthcare plan in Italy. It is so good to hear that Healthcare costs are so reasonable.
Thanks for the walkabout Brad. Gives a better understanding of the neighborhoods and the town. Would like to see properties in Umbria if you have plans for that. Ciao.
I do have plans for Umbria. I need to find a good agency with lots of nice properties. I’ll be working on that over winter. I can actually see Umbria from my house in Tuscany. We are up high and face towards it. It’s only about 18 Km away.
Great tour! It’s an amazing exterior! The layout is great. The views are great. But the renovation they did sometime between 1977-1987 (guessing) turned the house into a McMansion from the Jersey shore. Obviously it’s an estate. There are abandoned walkers all over the place, and it looks like the ripped out the bathtub to put in a walk-in shower where you could put a chair for the person to sit. The price is great-until you think about all the work that has to be done to make it look less like a mall. 🤷♂️
I think your probably spot on the date of last remodel. It wasn’t an estate. It was an end of life situation. In the short time since I shot the video two weeks ago it isn’t an end of life issue now. 😔.L I tried to soft shoe it in the video but it might have been lost in being too obscure. I’ve done five pretty intensive remodels here. Everybody’s idea of expensive is different, but I can tell you if you gave me €40,000 I could make this place look like a palace.
Such useful, practical information on insurance and medical care. A far cry from the greedy medical/insurance industrial complex in the US where we’re gouged at every level of ‘care’ and lectured by politicians that universal healthcare is socialism! Thanks!
Thank you for the walk around. You hadsaud you get the entire building. At Street level there are three doors. I assume the first takes you to the stair case. What about the other two doors?
Where was the private garage? Was it on the ground floor as well as the cantina spaces, or elsewhere? Sorry if I missed that info somehow! Appreciate the great video walkthrough, and also your personal experience with health care!!
Beautiful home! I have plantar fasciitis as well from running miles upon miles in the old style combat boots. Not fun when it flares up. That being said, I don't let it stop me, as I walk everywhere. Supposedly there's not much of a cure beyond surgery. Hope it's a mild case for you Brad.
Thanks! I know what it is now, and what causes it to really flare up. Life is about adapting I guess. I won’t let a little gimp keep me from making videos! Thanks for watching and the good thoughts! Brad
I would agree that the much bigger properties really need a floorplan, I don’t think properties under 200 m² really need one… And I’m here to tell you it takes a lot of time to come up with a usable floor plan. I was making them for some of my bigger property tours, and I literally spent hours trying to get everything correct and to scale…
Said the issue that caused the small wall marks in upper floor had been remediated. Of course someone would get it checked out completely, but in my opinion, there wasn’t any serious issue with it or there would’ve been more noticeable, staining, etc.
Awesome vids! Only constructive feedback I would give is to list the total square meters of the property in the list of the other info (amount of bedrooms etc), or at least in the video description
Gosh normally I do that under the price in the list of rooms and amenities, I must’ve flat out just missed it. This house was 250 m² on the two main floors. It actually felt much bigger than that. That would not include the Cantina underneath.
Zero property tax if it’s your primary residence. It’s minimal even if it’s not your primary residence probably less than €500 a year. The rest your question is way too involved to answer in the comment section. You can visit my website at Brads World dot and find a link there to ask me detailed questions on a form.
Yes… 🤦🏼♂️ high quality healthcare for reasonable fees. What a concept. Such a weight off of my mind. How does a “retiree” under 60 pay for healthcare in US? You have to have the mindset of Property taxes and healthcare costs are both taxes you pay in US. The income tax here is a LITTLE higher as a percentage but I feel far outweighed by the savings in virtually no yearly property tax and minimal healthcare costs.
How much is a remodel per square meter average for a place like Roccasecca? My acquaintance in Valtelina, Lombardia spent €1,100,000 remodeling a 225 Sq m house his parents abandoned in 1930s to emigrate to Australia. I was frankly shocked it was so much. They may have gone overboard. Thanks. Chris San Francisco.
A full remodel like that when you just have a shell is currently about €2000 per square meter. It’s about 50% less than the building cost from the ground up seeing in the states right now for a good quality construction. More or less. For those on the American system that’s about $230 per square foot. If you take a place that is structurally sound, you can expect to spend anywhere from $20-$80 per square foot. It just depends what you want to do. Our biggest remodel was approximately €70 a square foot or €140,000 which included replacing all flooring, new wall, treatments, new AC systems, new kitchen, four new bathrooms… You get the idea. You can see the video on my channel.
@bradsworld castor oil 100% Organic “Queen of the Throne” brand FrEE of Hexane. Works for planter fasciitis. I got mine off Amazon It needs to be in a Dark glass bottle.
Hi Brad, ....all the best getting over the bronchitis and having your foot heal (for more walking?) if you haven't already. ❤The medical visit coverage was a great idea - something most of us will need at one time or other. I was amused and surprised to hear you mention Kiwis living on the near coast, (being one myself)...the Gold Coast of Australia is another big nesting spot for overseas living Kiwis...we seem to gravitate to coastal areas I guess. Looks like a property with lots of quite straightforward potential, and easy living while doing whatever needs work. Personally I quite liked the teal (?) green and wood kitchen, pretty cheerful colours, wouldn't rush to change it. And the walkway bit that has been enclosed with windows and used for plants and herbs is very sweet.🫑🍓🌶
I’m feeling much better thanks! I actually was referring to the fruit! 😅 They have a huge amount of kiwi production in Latina. My friend has 800 trees that make 50 tons a year. Have you ever had yellow or red kiwi? Sooooo good. Especially the red. Wifey ate 5 one morning as her breakfast they were so delicious. 🤤
Ha ha...oh oops...it's a common misunderstanding of who is talking about what. NZers often call ourselves Kiwis and the fruit - kiwifruit. Which we kind of appropriated, as they were called Chinese gooseberry before that. I have had the yellow one - delicious! (its called gold kiwifruit here) but I haven't seen a red one 😮.. they sound interesting!!...😋
We love the walk around. We want to get a sense of the town. That’s more important than the property itself. What an incredible view in this home.

To an American it is crazy! Oly got an MRI and was charged $12,500 by the hospital. Then insurance had us pay our part of $2700! 🤬🤬🤬
In Canada, it would have been free.
The costs quoted for the doctor's visit, medicine and xray sounded quite reasonable. The MRI definitely not.
@@BradsWorld is the MRI cost ($12000+$2700) for in Italy or in the US please?
