Man, the kids being kids with the paper contest is a such a heartwarming scene, these kids should be studying and enjoying their lives as kids but instead, they're fighting demons. So scenes like these when they get to be kids, just wholesome.
a chill episode, but answering some of your questions: "bokutō" simply means "wooden sword" (木刀: 木 - wood / 刀 - sword, is the same kanji used for "katana") the Tokitō vs Sanemi and Iguro scene is not really to see who's better, but to show that the Hashira are more or less similar in abilities, to show that they're also training and to give the fans a little tease (that animation!) Tokitō is a genius, but also one of the less experienced Hashira because of his young age (tho he has an advantage compared to Iguro and Sanemi cause he defeated an UM). he caught Iguro off guard because he tricked him, making him think he was aiming for him when he was actually going for Sanemi. a lot of ppl had problems with this scene because is anime original, but imo is not contradicting anything the manga says and it doesn't need to be taken so seriously anyways. the main thing to take from this is that they're training too, everyone is preparing. also, i know you're caught up with the series, but the person shown as UM4 has been shown before in the Infinity Castle. she plays the "biwa" (it's like a lute), not a "tsuki". maybe you're confusing her instrument with the "tsuzumi" (the name of the drums of that demon from s1)? i can't wait for more eps! :)
