G-Dragon (=GD) wrote lots of songs for himself, the group and other artist, and it inspired agencies to give their idols more creative freedom. Big Bang popularized hip-hop and popularized having at least 2 rappers in a group - one with a low voice and one with a high voice. Big Bang was also the first kpop group to have a rapper trained to be an idol (his name is T.O.P) - before Big Bang members who were not that good at singing were trained to rap, and it is still relatively common now. GD was the first person in kpop to give a name to the fandom (Big Bang fandom name is V.I.P.) and he was the first one to create a light stick. he also popularized bright hair colors among idols. Big Bang is still crazily popular in Korea despite a long hiatus and scandals. Big Bang - although they were the instigators of so much you see in Kpop today, they were also always considered the BAD boys in their hey day - thats because the did push the envelope. But imagine what Kpop would be like now if they didn't. BIG BANG debuted in 2006 and from 2008 onwards they have also been Soloists, Duo's and more amongst the 5 members. In 2010 - GD & TOP did a number of duo's and then GD & Taeyang. they are all Soloist as you noted with Taeyang'a Eyes, Nose, Lips and the Duo he did that song also but with a different Artists - but from the same company. GD & Taeyang have been performing together since they were 12-13 years old. Thats LIVE performance - in their day, you had to be good LIVE to be taken seriously.

I love Big Bang stage presence and energy! the way they can hype the crowd without any dances or special effects, just with their voices and songs! Their live stages are ones of the best!
when you said that it will be an old kpop, I had to smile, because Big Bang in general and G-Dragon in particular in some ways made kpop the way it is now.
G-Dragon (=GD) wrote lots of songs for himself, the group and other artist, and it inspired agencies to give their idols more creative freedom.
Big Bang popularized hip-hop and popularized having at least 2 rappers in a group - one with a low voice and one with a high voice. Big Bang was also the first kpop group to have a rapper trained to be an idol (his name is T.O.P) - before Big Bang members who were not that good at singing were trained to rap, and it is still relatively common now.
GD was the first person in kpop to give a name to the fandom (Big Bang fandom name is V.I.P.) and he was the first one to create a light stick. he also popularized bright hair colors among idols.
Big Bang is still crazily popular in Korea despite a long hiatus and scandals.
Last year GD was accused of taking drugs (he was proven to be innocent and many people believe this accusation was made to cover a political scandal), and he gave a short interview to the media in front of a police station. the expensive BMW car he came on, as well as the glasses and some other stuff he was wearing that day were immediately sold out.
btw he is a BMW ambassador and he started this trend of being ambassador of some brands in kpop :)
btw GD is on the stage since a very young age, and he has been famous since a very young age. There is an interesting video on youtube about him called "the unreal life of G-Dragon, and human Kwon Ji-Yong", which I recommend.
Fun fact: "yong" is Korean means "dragon", so "g-dragon" is a literal translation of his name from Korean to English :)

I miss the annual BigBang concert in the middle of the MAMA awards. I think it was 5 straight years before YG started the boycott. But they left with a bang (no pun intended) That 2015 CL with 2NE1 and BigBang performance are still looked on as 2 of the best performances in kpop history not only at MAMA.

@@sylvielebrun1733 After such a long drought.. having to only see reactions on TH-cam and watch old concert footage, we have had the songs from TAEYANG and now DAESUNG, with TOP coming to NETFLIX later in the year, and his appearance at the fashion show in surprise for us all, and Seungri touring with DJ stuff around Asia, and of course with beer, car, footfall jersey, and shoe business from our GD - it's been an exciting 12 months.. I hope to see much more. It makes ageing so much more bearable. :)

2014 was the year of YG rappers at MAMA . It got opened by YG rappers with Bobby from Ikon who won rap show Show me the money . Then we got Epik High with Bibby and BI from Ikon and Mino from Winner singing Born hater . GD and Taeyang were the cherry on top . Their performance is kpop history as GD got mad at the way MAMA treated his felow artists and diss the organisers there live on stage . Even now 10 years later when kpop fans get mad at an award show they call for GD to diss it 😅. GDragon first debut at 7 years old . At 13 he debut as a rapper . Before BigBang hecand Taeyang trained for 6 years together. They were supposed to debut as a hip hip duo but instead YG decided to form their first kpop group . BigBang had the first rapline as GD brought his friend TOP who had been un underground rapper . BigBang changed the kpop industry to the core and proved idols can be real artists . GD is the first idol producer . Highly recommend you watch this performance on Dorian Gray chanel with eng subtitles. I also recommend MAMA 2015 and 2013 .

You must see this with the lyrics, the word smith is excellent. Big Bang - although they were the instigators of so much you see in Kpop today, they were also always considered the BAD boys in their hey day - thats because the did push the envelope. But imagine what Kpop would be like now if they didn't. BIG BANG debuted in 2006 and from 2008 onwards they have also been Soloists, Duo's and more amongst the 5 members. In 2010 - GD & TOP did a number of duo's and then GD & Taeyang. they are all Soloist as you noted with Taeyang'a Eyes, Nose, Lips and the Duo he did that song also but with a different Artists - but from the same company. GD & Taeyang have been performing together since they were 12-13 years old. Thats LIVE performance - in their day, you had to be good LIVE to be taken seriously.

bigbang used to promote different units at a time. there was gd and top, gd and taeyang, or sometimes solos all five of them in different months a year when the group isnt promoting an album. There is always one or 2 of them in music shows, it WAS INSANE when BIGBANG was active! no other group comes close!

Big bang live is the best! MAMA 2015 should be next, as you would see all of them performing. Big bang was the first group having solo project, unit project like TOP and GD. GD composed and produced Big Bang songs, his style definitely influenced YG sounds. GD is king of KPOP! SHINee is second generations group to must watch as well.

I'm Army and VIP. I'm older, and have always appreciated good performers, and good music, whatever the genre. BTS led me to Bigbang. I love both groups, but Bigbang is really dynamic. Sure, they have cool dance moves, but the performance is more raw, and showcases their unique voices and styles. I am presently following Daesung"s new work- how can you not fall in love with his voice?
