      I have to be brutally honest about Resonite's community dynamics. Despite investing over 1K hours into NEOS, my efforts as a human player felt utterly invalidated. It's disheartening to witness such a lack of inclusivity in what should be a welcoming metaverse community. Even after creating numerous public worlds and assisting countless furry and human players in adapting to the platform, the hostility towards human characters persisted relentlessly. What's more disheartening is the fact that when I reached out to community moderators for support, my concerns were consistently disregarded. This dismissive attitude only serves to perpetuate the toxic environment. It's truly disappointing to see Resonite mirror the same issues as NEOS, perpetuating exclusion and prejudice rather than fostering a sense of unity and acceptance

      @@lordharryx I'm sorry you've had that experience, but the people you've had the experience with don't represent the entire community. Resonite is a place for everyone, and almost noone cares what avatar you're wearing. It kind of disheartens me to see when someone had bad experiences, overall Resonite's community is the most open and welcoming I've ever seen, and I'm happy and proud to be a part of it.

      Yeah i feel the same way about neosvr, its the most advanced out there besides Resonite, vrchat had gotten boring, props dont do much, doesnt feel super realistic, its the same games and same objects in different retextures in every world, nothing new, no props we can make, still cant have an avatar that isn't humanized, because where we see will be above the actual avatar, and the community and updates and somewhat behind, or just bad right now. It depresses me how simple it seems to make an amazing immersive, fantasy, somewhat realistic social vr game like neosvr, make avatars or parts of the world react to yours, props, inventory, true immersion, true home worlds, graphics like helios, etc, yet no one has taken that opportunity. Maybe its just not the best time right now, we need more people to actually want something other than vrchat, a reason for everyone to want to move over to a new platform, but it's a gold mine opportunity, for us and for the people who create it, and don't sell out to NFT/Crypto, Currently, neosvr and resonite sound promising, and resonite even more since with neosvr it could suddenly disappear, I'm definitely gonna check them out. (I'd love the ability in vrchat to have your home world never reset anything you change, like a real house you set up, unless you click a button to reset it all back the way it was.)

    Thank you for giving Resonite the attention it deserves. I think what's preventing people from switching from VRChat to Resonite is that VRChat simply has the numbers. We need to tip the scale so that people start going to Resonite instead and videos like this help a lot, so thank you again.
    I will say that sometimes it's nice to have a dedicated "editor" to work on your avatar and not require someone to actually launch the client itself. I believe they are working on that, but I could be wrong. That being said, the ability to create content and not interact with "dead" worlds is monumental, unlike VRChat.

    This needs more exposure and a simple things for simple people. Right now there are way to few people to call it a social platform. Creating an easy way for the people to grab content and use it, and advertising it (even through a passive "ay, look what I found" kind), would bring a huge competition to VRChat.
    There are people who may want to make stuff in VR and the ones who want to just see cool things, but that ratio is about 1:100.

That's part of the reason I bailed on ChilloutVR to go back to VRChat. I'm too comfortable, and I've dedicated waaaay too much time to learning Unity to move to any other platform.

    I've tried this a few times and have never been able to find people to interact with. Almost everyone is hiding within private instances. TH-camrs and other influencers kind of get through a lot of gates that players would normally find to be closed to them. Unless something's changed or unless you can bring a bunch of friends and someone who actually knows what they're doing along, this is incredibly hard to get into.

    The Ben 10 character just simplified what it means to be an interactive world, and made it mush more immersive, based on the presentation
    Instead of going into a menu and selecting from a written list or URL as he said, they created a visual and seemingly physical representation of a game prompt in world. Without spelling it out for you, listing in a normal format that breaks immersion and telling you [Press f to select character], but because it's Interactive and you are visually stimulated aas well as prompted by what looks like a button, it appears familiar without being Obvious that it's just another menu form.

      Only those with permissions can modify and save over a world. Don't like changes someone else made? Don't save the world. You can also make it so that problematic users don't have build permissions or are banned from the session. Hope this helps!

    • @Mekose
      @Mekose 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cometkumavo Who decides permission though?
      in VRChat I can filter who and what I see client-side. In Resonite the entire world can be edited. Do I have autonomy over my own avatar, at least? Can I decide who can and can't edit my avatar?
      What about the world, who decides who can and can't edit the world I'm in? Is there a singular host that decides that? If I join a public world by another host to try to find friends, do I put my being/avatar/inventory at risk instead of just risking a crash due to another player's laggy or troll avatar?
      If Resonite is so powerful, open source, and can even read/write(?) files on my PC (like viewing or editing a PDF); are there vulnerabilities/risks to my system for playing?

      you have spectator, guest, builder, moderator, and admin permissions per session/world that gives various freedoms and restrictions. if someone acts up too much you can kick/ban them from the session, moderation tickets are also a things

    • @AmasterAmaster
      @AmasterAmaster 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Mekose i will see if i can awnser all your questions. Lets say you are the host of a world (by you creating it), you are the admin of it (the highest permission), you can grant other players the builder permission to begin editing/building things (default permission is "guest"). No one will be able to build by defualt unless they are your friend (contacts in resonite). If you suspect that someone is breaking the rules to bypass that permission system or is harassing you in some way, make a moderation ticket (and/or kick, ban, remove perms from that player, as you have ultimate control as admin). As for safety with your device, it is safe. There are nodes that can write to your PC, but they cannot function unless your world is in "unsafe" mode (which is beyond the scope of the question as that is a bit more technical, all you need to know is that any world you join is classified as safe, and no one can join an unsafe world). Your avatar (when you make it) will have a component called SimpleAvatarProtection, this stops players from taking your avatar away or saving it (you own that avatar). Your inventory is safe and no one can access that (there is a feature to allow other people to spawn things from your inventory, but that is not talked about a lot and nearly no one uses it (and you have to implicitly activate that, so you cant accedentally do that). Also currently resonite is not open source (yet, from what i hear).

    • @eltreum1

      Former SL builder myself. Resonite is what SL wished it could become creatively but is a PC only experience because of its performance demands. They would love to support standalone VR but every attempt in the past fell short unless they drastically lowered the graphics and restricted what users could make to very simple things via external SDK like VRChat does. Once standalone devices can match a gaming PC's performance, they may retry it. They want to unlock the maximum possibilities of VR as a creative platform real-time in sim without relying on external SDK tools. It has OBS and Twitch integration and some vtubers now perform from Resonite. It also has built in web browser, media players, and some REST API/Websoket support to link to external services on the web to use in your sim.
      Resonite evolved from another platform called NEOSvr that was not allowed on Steam because Steam does not allow crypto ecoin trading platforms so they had to maintain 2 versions one without ecoins. Neos founders split and the dev team and engine creator quit after a legal battle over the source code rights because some crypto bros one of the founders were friends with forced integration then pumped and dumped their ecoin and almost made some people homeless so crypto is a very dirty word in the core community. Resonite does import/export standard file formats used by game engines for all the assets. Making assets for money though would be easier with blender and Photoshop and selling on stores like Turbosquid.

It just clicks in my brain in a way I didn't know I wanted, it's just so nice. My issue is just that there aren't enough people. I play VR to meet people and although I love Reso, I've met a majority of the people who play consistently so, when you compare the small-ish (like 130 people on average) to VRC's 29,000 or whatever, it's arguably the better place to meet people, as much as I dislike VRC, which really makes me sad because I love to make stuff in Reso :(

    Not saying that what you showed off wasnt neat, but everytime people try to sell me on Neosnite, its always "look at this chaotic thing i can do" or "look at this object that i can take to any world" and i just find myself not caring because before seeing said chaotic thing, im already burnt out and iritated on just trying to play the game. The UI is just too complicated, the UX is headache inducing, avatar setup is a nightmare, fullbody setup is even worse, the worlds are empty, there isnt much to do, performance isnt great, instances are locally hosted so if the host disconnects, everyone gets disconnected, and so on and so on.
    I can see where there is potential, and praise what they do right, but SOO much is wrong that it makes me not return.
    Just my 2 cents that no one asked for 😅

    • @Mekose
      @Mekose 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I appreciate this kind of insight. I was curious what the platform does to combat trolls and bad actors, but having every world be locally hosted seems to be the answer. The pros is that you probably won't have to deal with many trolls destroying your creation, the cons are pretty awful though. Disconnects, having to wait for the latest version host to be online, forming an incredibly insular community that makes new player retention and onboarding an absolute nightmare, etc.
      I haven't played Resonite so I may be wrong; but how can you even risk playing in public worlds when anything and everything can be edited? Nobody is going to risk setting their worlds public to find new friends, right?

    • @AmasterAmaster
      @AmasterAmaster 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Over time things will get better. Currently the devs are focusing on performance (or IK, but you can vote for either first in their survey). They can only tackle one super large thing at a time.

    • @eltreum1
      @eltreum1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mekose If you host the instance local or a Patreon that runs their own 24/7 headless server to host rooms, you have full access control and can restrict what guests can do there including block access to the editor if you want. You can even force guests into an avatar of your choosing when they join instead of their own so they can't bring in crash avatars. Avatars can be set to protected so they can't be edited except by the owner when in a world with edit rights enabled. If you want to make a world and add it to the public domain directory anyone can host their own instance copy of it and set the rules or edit it without damaging the master copy, you don't have to be online, that only applies to instances you host local or non-public published worlds you store on your local machine vs their public cloud hosting and headless servers.
      It does have the beautiful desert problem indeed because many users are in their private home world building alone or restrict their instances to people on their friends list or invite only making them invisible in the world browser. The community does host some open public events to get people to mix but you have to follow their discord to see when those are or have a chance encounter while exploring. Some users comb the public running instances to pull them in to populated places and make friends after vetting them. It makes getting a foot in the door with communities hard but also makes most trolls give up after their first visit in 10 minutes seeing little to no action and go back to VRC declaring Resonite dead. It doesn't work on Quest stand-alone being PC only, so the community is typically more mature and tech savvy.

    I'm far from a VR enthusiast, I can't even afford any headsets, but dang this has really gotten my imagination running wild!
    Especially SoundEgg/Kulza's segment really got me thinking. So many people lament the downfall of record and video stores, their old memories of searching shelves upon shelves of items for the perfect product to take home, actions with an almost ritualistic quality to them. But records and tapes need to be produced and distributed, outlets need to be built and maintained, and the products take up space at home. Streaming and digital downloads win in so many aspects. But a VR record store sounds so perfect for those who want to amble aimlessly and get pleasantly suprised just like most people could have 30-odd years ago, with none of the drawbacks of physical media.
    Of course there will always be a place and value for physical goods, including physical media. I'm just suddenly so excited for all the new ways that VR can combine the best of both worlds!
