- Join us in South Yorkshire for an evening exploring Sheffield and witness our surprise as we discover an indoor tropical paradise, hunt bears through the city centre and end up with an authentic taste of America in our latest UK travel vlog.
We begin our adventure at Meadowhall Shopping Centre as we board the excitingly named Sheffield Supertram for a short journey to the city centre where we are greeted by the awesome sound of the Cathedral bells and the first of many awesomely decorated bear sculptures.
As we wander the city streets we stumble across the Winter Garden and head inside for an amazing surprise. Not only is it an indoor tropical paradise that transports you to tropical climes all year round but there are mysterious creatures hidden in the bushes too.
After discovering the tranquil Peace Gardens, the iconic Crucible and even more bears around the city, we take a walk around Victoria Quays and the Sheffield Canals before we jump back on the Supertram towards Ikea where we disembark and take the short walk to TGI Fridays for a taste of America in the heart of Yorkshire.

Sheffield is nice, love the bears. Was startled when they started speaking as well. The winter garden was beautiful. Good way to end the evening with family, friends and food. Be Safe and Be Well

I love living in Sheffield, lovely city
Sheffield is a great place to live. I’m a sheffielder but I lived in Essex and Nottingham as a student. I’ve also lived in Leeds for 10 years but came back to Sheffield 8 years ago. Sure there are some areas to avoid but you get that everywhere. I live in the south of the city with the Peak District on my doorstep. People are generally friendly and if you are a sociable person making friends is fairly easy. The main issue I have is the decimation of the city centre and lack of investment
I grew up here as a kid in the 80s that police box has been there ever since i can remember. Great memories of a great City.
Such a quirky little detail that remains isn’t it? We can’t wait to get back and explore more of the city.

I live in Sheffield and it's a great city and love it. Even though it's going a bit downhill it's still has very friendly people
It's really not going downhill, if you look at videos from the 90s/ 2000s it's way shittier looking. The public transport these days really has gone down the shitter though

That was a real nice vlog, anything in Yorkshire is lovely to me! The cathedral bells were lovely to hear, loved all the bears, but not the creepy dolls! The only small police box I have ever seen was in Trafalgar Square. The flowers in the Peace Garden were beautiful. Victoria Quays we’re lovely too. Never been to a TGIF , I think we have them in Canada, will have to check. You certainly had a lovely evening in Sheffield.
Yorkshire certainly is an amazing place. Sheffield was such a beautiful city to walk around but why the need for the dolls!? *shudder*
Grew up in Sheffield, left 60 years ago. It has changed a lot, but when I was small the town hall was black with the air pollution, and I remember it being cleaned to reveal the golden stone. Memories!

@@JJExtraI know it's not exactly Sheffield as you cross into the peak district but if you head south out of Totley or Dore there is some fantastic countryside and some good views over Sheffield

@@JJExtra I did thank you, got back home last night. During my galavant around Sheffield, I visited the Cathedral, some art gallery, the winter garden and a videogame museum. Weather was beautifully sunny all weekend even had to wear my PJ shorts it got so hot. so left with great memories

I'm Sheffield born and bred, very proud of my city. The people are like nowhere else in the world. We have an incredible music scene and history, gave the world stainless steel and our accent was voted sexiest in Europe 🙈😉 I know! Haha! We also have more trees per capita than anywhere in Europe.
That police box you saw on Surrey Street was my dads, he clocked in and out there for 12 years as a South Yorkshire Bobby before his move to CID. He was once in that box when the door suddenly slammed shut on him, found out later it was due to the exploding gas tower in Hillsborough 😮
Absolutely right to be proud, it’s a city we love to visit and explore and always find the people so friendly. Great story about the police box but the main question remains… is there a secret society inside it? 😂
I'm originally from Sheffield but left in 1993, a lots changed since then, wasnt any winter gardens, the peace gardens was literley just a bit of grass with flowerbeds and benches around (where we used to get drunk). where the police back is, just to the left is some steps, they used to lead to public toilets, now i believe theres a microbar down there?
You should visit the botanical gardens in Sheffield it’s beautiful as Buckingham palace.

Born and bred in Sheffield but left just over a year ago now living in Cornwall…never really ventured into the city centre much over the last few years so somethings have changed that ive never seen even though i lived there for 48 years…!! We do return every 3 / 4 months to see family etc..👍
We really enjoy Sheffield, in fact we were just back there this weekend filming an updated video so that will be coming soon! Big difference between Sheffield and Cornwall 😂 hope you are settling in well.
@@JJExtra yeh big difference…no traffic jams lol…apart from height of summer when holidaymakers come down…not sure how far you have ventured out but we came from Hillsborough area (north of city ctr). @@JJExtra 💯 % the people are more friendly in Sheffield their are also lots more parks in Sheffield! Sheffield is built on 7 hills so you lots of very good views
Yes we noticed the hills 😂 gateway to the Peak District is never a bad selling point and we agree, we found the people friendly.

Sheffield Town centre is a bit of a building site at the moment.hopefully when the boards are taken away it will look impressive.a food Hall said to be the largest of its kind in Europe will open on the 23rd May.
Yeah there were works going on during our latest visit but it’s good to see! We must get back for that food hall 😋
I am looking to book a short break for my wife and I .. wanting a city where we haven't been before. . Sheffield looks quite nice and quite easy to get to from Newcastle by train
It’s a great city to visit so doubt you would be disappointed. We have just returned ourselves and will have a new video on Sheffield in 2 weeks so depending on when you are looking to travel that could be of help 😊

Places are never the same when you live there as what they are when you visit as a tourist but we enjoyed the city
There are plenty of areas that aren't nice where I'm from (London), people in London tend to go the hotspots or the city centre to enjoy or blow off the stress from work and just life overall. Also a lot of people know London is a monstrosity of a city where inequality is huge.
It’s like the government makes it look like a non violent city because when tourists are gone it’s diffremt
