- Welcome back my faithless lackeys, it is your maestro of mayhem, MANSHOVEL, and I have returned from Mount Cyanide with another submission for Season Nine of the Tubers High Score Challenge. This fortnight, we're taking on Speed Rumbler released by Capcom to arcades in 1986. The game was chosen by @PondersRetroGoodness and I spent a fair amount of time playing it.
The player controls a little dude in a car and has to outrun and outgun terrorists who are hellbent on taking over his hometown. The player can power-up their shot, armor, speed, and surplus of vehicles while trying to race to the end of the level and avoid getting blown up.
If the player's car catches in on fire, they can potentially attempt to fight while on foot. If the player has an additional surplus of vehicles, and if they survive long enough without being pinned down, they may be able to get into their new vehicle and continue through the level. That, however, is easier said than done.
The game has a lot of old school charm and it's actually pretty good. Playing it repetitively for a competition got a bit of a drag. It's just one of those games that I can only take in short spurts. I think it's a pretty good game though.

Thats a hell of a run bud, i got loads of fond memories of this.... but lots of bad ones having to get out the car 😂
You didn't have much luck whilst on foot there m8! I'm sure some games the enemies seem super aggressive! I noticed it anyway, nice run dude, GG
