I think it would be extremely interesting to try and recreate "old school" perfumes using modern aroma chemicals. Not necessarily simplifying them (or maybe a bit) in terms of scent but in terms of composition.
I see it a little bit like what @RoyaltyNowStudios does with historical portraits. You see them as close as they probably were, and then you give them a modern makeover.

@@SarahMcCartney4160 Yeah, I will, I have a few very old French perfumery books (from 1694 to 1873-ish) and they have recipes in them. Vinegars, toothpastes, spirits, essences, perfumes. It very interesting. Some ingredients aren't even use or made anymore like Reseda flower essence or Neroli Portugal. But the recreation is the fun part. I'm gathering raw materials and then I'll try to recreate a few. It's quite exciting !

@Titemaud ah yes, I'm more interested in those from 1870s onwards.

@@SarahMcCartney4160 My first was the 1870s one, and then I found "Le parfumeur du roy" from the 1690s so I had to know what dear old Louis was wearing (and I bought a few more, just for the sake of "science").
I'm trying to find the 1930s version of the first book from the 1870s (same author, revisited version), I'm curious to know if they started to include synthetics in their formulas.
There's a whole collection from la Bibliothèque Nationale de France, it's fascinating.

The 2 dimensional version! Bang on. Love the planet analogy too Sarah. I like to think of clones as DIY cars. Same frame and body, 4 wheels and functional components, but vinyl seats and a go cart engine that runs on kerosene. 😂 Thing is, when they get up to speed and whiz by you, it's actually pretty easy to be fooled! It's the after-smell of the exhaust that gives them away. 🚗

Perfume that called after that legendary song AND it got cocoa in it? God, this sounds amazing and I bet smells scrumptious too

When using hedione what is the total amount you can use in a mix of say 100g of perfumers alcohol. Love these videos

Thank you. It has been used at up to 80% in fragrance compounds. You can put whatever you like in perfumer's alcohol as there are no restrictions on it.

Chanel's Le Lion has "cloud materials" at about 17%. Baccarat Rouge has about 18% (Thanks to 17% Ambrox). Narciso Rodriguez for Her is 30%. One Million is a whopping 37%.

I think probably a lot higher than that, depending in what you count as clouds. 🙂
