During my career in law enforcement (27 years, now retired), the window in the partition that separates the front from the back ALWAYS concerned me. I would get in a patrol car at the beginning of my shift from a fellow officer, and I made it a priority to close that window 1st thing. Why some officers keep that window open? I have no idea. The only time I would open the window during a custody is when I'm setting in the car with them. I get out....that window get's closed. Any rookie officers out there reading this...take note. This video right here is why you keep that damn window closed because you never now when another officer will put a suspect in the back of your car, and just because they're in handcuffs doesn't mean sh*t. Close that fricken window! You're welcome!
Good point. I would add that unless I was in command of my patrol vehicle, I had a clip-hook on my Sam Browne where the keys were kept. No suspect ever stole my rig.
I was worn out when I was an Irish police sergeant telling officers to never ever leave the keys in your patrol car ignition when they left their vehicle at incidents. It seems incredible that they would do this knowing there was a rifle in their vehicle. (We don't carry guns in Ireland.) Then one night when I was on duty at the local airport for some presidential visit I heard over the radio that some guy stopped for drunk driving had just stolen our patrol car. He crashed it too after a chase. About two hours later I see our patrol car on top of a recovery vehicle wrecked pass the airport road. Thankfully nobody was injured. I would consider this incident as having a really fucked up day. Really careless to set up the spike strips with other occupied vehicles stopped at the side of the road in the path of the fleeing vehicle. Luckily he hit the truck but that was just random luck.
We carry here do to the fact that we have to be able to Match the threat to over come it. Verbal judo can only get you so far. It is great to here things from your perspective though.
I completely agree. I found it odd that they had civilians parked near by to the stop sticks. I think if a suspect could gain access to the front seats then that area needs to be secured as well.
I'm glad to see that there is a police officer that will acknowledge that these cops put a bunch of people in danger. What happened to the vehicle that was parked behind the 18 wheeler?
Probably the most fascinating Police Activity video I’ve seen so much to unpack here, disabling the radio was a good move, the stop stick deployment, how flexible that guy was, and of course the mistakes made in securing him. Glad no one else was hurt
"flexible that guy was" Lol. He was even more flexible when the pulled him out of the car. It's was like all of his bones were made of rubber. Either that or they were completely shattered.
Honestly it makes me wonder how fast the average agency would be able to do a similar tactic. I assume they would just have to switch radio channels, at most places. Because disabling a specific radio from the DMR system is difficult and the people who can do it likely aren't always on shift.
@galacticboy2009 A suspect with any knowledge of police radio systems would be able to switch channels also, the radios are easy to operate. I'm in MN and I know during the riot a few years ago there was Officers that lost radios and they were able to shut them down quickly. In another instance a tribal officer got his truck stolen and the suspect was on the radio cursing at them, they shut that down right away. It happens and I've never heard the dispatchers say that they can't do it.

I can't help but feel that it was highly dangerous and irresponsible to deploy those stop sticks there with a line of civilian motorists pulled over to the side of the road like sitting ducks, especially considering the high rate of speed taking place. If he would have hit anyone other than the bed of that tractor trailer this could have been a WHOLE lot worse...
I was kind of mumbling to myself too at that, seems like at that rate of speed, stop sticks could only guarantee a huge accident. And I was yelling at the cars that didn't pull over when the cops came up on them, too bad they can't take a photo of those license platess and send them tickets in the mail. A cop with lights on, coming up on you at 123 mph, you BETTER move to the right.
@@23mrcash And that swerve was caused by the spikes. Again, they never should have put it down next to civilians like that, in literally the worst possible spot. It was irresponsible, stupid, and dangerous.
You have to realize how fast he was going to not only flip the truck's trailer but completely tear off one of the rear axles. I'm sorry the Trucker got involved with all this and I'm glad the only person hurt was the suspect who got what he deserved a 1 way ticket to the afterlife.
The damage to the car alone is enough to know it was going fast, the entire front end is destroyed. I'm surprised the driver wasn't killed immediately. Usually airbags will save a person in that kind of accident but not at that speed.
Glad the truck driver was okay, it actually worked out really well because had there been a line of cars instead of a truck and trailer, an innocent civilian could’ve been killed too.
It didn't look like a transport vehicle. I don't think there was a partition at all. He just had to get passed the rifle.
Also NEVER leave the prisoner alone! The cops have to do their job at the scene!
No reason to have those windows at all.
What do you expect from a woman ? 😂😂😂

Well that's what happens when you use a place like Sears to learn how to drive.
A drunk Irishman.... blasphemy!!
I completely agree. I found it odd that they had civilians parked near by to the stop sticks. I think if a suspect could gain access to the front seats then that area needs to be secured as well.
@@kennybird5978
Yeah, maybe they could have put the sticks farther down the road.
I'm 52 years old and in pretty good shape, I can get the cuffs in front of me, hurts the wrists a bit but I can do it. I'm not scrawny like this guy, I just do a lot of exercise and stretching.

We all know that the "Captain" isn't really an officer anymore. He's management.
They probably have to leave cars on for “humane” reasons but to have that slider open was negligent
@@2001chevycamaross Cops that get their cars stolen deserve to have their badges taken away.
At least he saved the tax payers a trial. RIP squad car
That's ALWAYS my thought as well. God bless lol
I bet the city ends up paying for his funeral.

WOW. Everyone should know the TRUTH.
At gates of hell, Devil be like: Was it worth it? 5mins of freedom?
This was absolutely riveting. It's not often you get a perp's-eye view of the chase. You start off this video thinking "How embarrassing for the officer who put the guy in the cruiser." Then, it's "I hope no one gets hurt." Thank goodness no one got hurt. From the description, he was playing bumper cars in his vehicle and could have caused serious injury on other drivers on the road. All in all, excellent work on the part of the officers. All's well that ends well.
Especially at 15:29
… basically POV of someone’s last few seconds of conscious life
Well, the guy who stole the cop car "succumbed to his injuries" so I dunno if you can really say no one got hurt.
@@ChuckThree It was the sad dying horror animal screams for me dawg. No longer coscious, but fully reduced to an ape creature that feels regret and terror...and then dies painfully like falling asleep the first night after an injury as a child again, scared and restless...forever
lol bro really knew it was over when they turned off the radio remotely like bruh
@@ElfRightsActivist No one innocent got hurt and that's what really matters here. All the innocent lives he put into danger playing bumper cars with his vehicle and then leading the cops on this chase could've ended up with multiple innocent people dead.
@@ElfRightsActivist Ya, should have said no one "of value" got hurt. Good catch!
Well look on the bright side: the cost of a new patrol car pales in comparison to what we would’ve had to spend feeding, housing, and medically treating him in prison. We all know that’s where he was going to end up most of his life. We actually got quite the bargain out of this!
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And...
Always look on the bright side of life!!
No slap on the wrist catch and release for this fish.
Embarrassing that this was allowed to happen 😮
Why doesn't the patrol car have restraints in the passenger seats? That's why this flexible lil dude just weasled his way to the driver seat. Even just having someone there to watch him should be common sense.
@@Alexism.1999exactly!
It’s not the first time either
@@Alexism.1999 When you're on scene of something like this, you're not there to supervise a suspect. It's just not gonna happen. You would understand if you worked in law enforcement.
@@jogocrazyy3565 it would be as simple as taking out the keys when you step out of the car... no understanding needed
im honestly terrified that those cops almost killed civilians there with that spike trap. it was pure luck that the out-of-control car hit the backside of a massive truck. it could've easily hit one of the smaller vehicles in that line. just imagine what that would've looked like.... that cop should be charged with recklessly endangering civilians.
A true menace and danger to everyone around him.
Well at least he's dead now and the taxpayers don't gotta waste resources keeping him in prison.
Why would they put spike strips so close to a bunch of parked cars in the first placr?
For some reason,, I laughed my head off when he crawled into that front seat and drove away. How was that even possible!?
