As you guys already know, I love vegetables! It's a norm to incorporate lots of veggies into my own diet and almost eating like a plant based. However when it comes to my kids, it's so hard. I'm always worried if my kids are getting enough nutrients or not. I decided to make a vegan day for my whole family. That's how my family makes a small effort for a better planet. I know it's not perfect but I hope someone can relate to this. Thank you for watching !!
you're amazing miwa!!! and a great mom and cook. it doesn't ever have to be perfect, just what works for you and for me, as a vegan who loves japanese food and culture i really value your videos!! i also just bought all 3 of your e books!! big congrats to you!
I'd looove to eat at your house once, I'm vegan and love japanese food, everything looks so mouthwatering and healthy, you are a great mom and cook, love you
ohhhh Selma! You are so sweet! I wish I could deliver it through the screen! haha Please check out the description box for the recipe! There is written recipe on my blog^^
Thank you, this is awesome! I am especially happy to find vegan versions of Japanese food. Please keep making these videos and recipes. They're a gift to us.
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy the recipes! yes! I'm still on the journey of plant based cooking, but be sure to share with you my journey and recipes!
the sigh of relief to have "survived"the morning rush and get children out the door on time is so familiar to me; i have it every weekday after my daughter leaves for school. Thanks for sharing the footage of ameyoko cho and ueno. I used to live in the Yanaka area so I always went shopping every week in either ameyoko cho or on temple days in Sugamo (just between my home near yanaka ginza). It's very nostalgic for me to see and perhaps getting me a bit home sick :) The vegan oyako don looks delicious. My daughter has a problem with the gobo so I probably leave that out and add some beans (or put some egg over it to make it more like oyako don; for those vegetarian goba and egg go so well together, you can make a great vegetarian omuraisu with gobo mixed through the rice).
ohhhh I understand how nostalgic it might be for you!! Sorry to bring you a home sick. you have to come back one day! haha the sigh ..... lots of parents might relate to this^^ we all don't know how hectic the morning is since we don't have time to stop and think of it. Just non stop! but once the house becomes quiet, the sigh naturally comes out! haha
Miwa San! The soba and the vegan oyakodon look delicious! I want to try making both for my girls (I will have to leave out the gobo though 😢) I love seeing your outings with your boys, hoping to go out more now too since the situation has improved. Thank you, Miwa San!
Your English is quite good! And I love hearing you speak Japanese as well. The soba/salad dressing looks delicious - I will definitely try making it! Thank you for sharing :)
This all looks so good can’t wait to try some more of your recipes! 😊 loved seeing part of your day! Anyone else go “awww 🥺” when Miwa-san called us friends?
awwww Rachel! thank you ! So sweet of you! Every time I talk to you guys here, I feel like I'm chatting to my friends. I think that's the biggest reason why I can keep going! ^^
I was so excited to see your burdock/gobo recipes. They look so tasty! I just got some fresh burdock at the store last night, perfect timing - thank you!!
@@MiwasJapaneseCooking Yes, more burdock recipes please - it's SO good and super nutritious. We can get most things in the US. Even if people don't live in a big city they can order all their Asian groceries online (including fresh Asian noodles, fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables) at places like Weee Asian Grocery, Lotus Foods Online or H Mart. (They even ship for free for orders over $35). I guess the more people realize this they'll be watching even more - so they can make your recipes for themselves. 😊
I just married a Japanese man and we're going to Japan in the Fall. I'm so excited but the two things that scare me are being polite enough in terms of language and custom. I love how you switched up from English to Japanese. Arigato!
To be successful, you have to use each day as an opportunity to improve, to be better, to get a little bit closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work-and with a busy schedule, next to impossible. But the best part is, the more you accomplish, the higher you’ll want to reach Ur explanation of ur vlogs is really amazing👍
Miwa, this video was so nice! I love watching you for the recipes but also because I love watching days in your life. I would love to learn some Japanese and visit Japan when the pandemic has calmed down
You did fine with your English! Your boys are so cute and funny. I have two boys too, all grown up now but my two grand sons are always up to mischief and remind me of my sons. 🥰
haha!!! Boys somehow stay the same even after they grown up. that's is lovely! the mischief always troubles me but I'm sure that is the thing I'll miss in the future^^
@@MiwasJapaneseCooking yes so true. Their children will do the same for them. As a grandma I can see how my son’s boys are paying him back for any mischief he gave to me. 🤣
Wonderful healthy Vegan recipes! Thank you! Shiso leaf is one of my favorite things but hard to find here in Switzerland unless one lives in the city. Even then, it's not easy. A Japanese friend gave me a shiso plant last year. I planted the seeds which fell, but it was not a success. Going to try next summer again on my sunny balcony!
It's so cool so see traditional Japanese vegan or vegetarian dishes, you inspire me to try these! I made your soba salad today, I had all the ingredients in my house ( I didn't make homemade gomadare though) and I loved it (half japanese husband love it as well) thank you so much! Warm regards from Holland

Yes, I have two sons also, one does eat most foods, but the other is much more fussy. I think we must have the same approach - I find a few dishes with vegetables that I know he will eat and I make them often. It's only a couple of different meals though...haha.
it's a great approach to introduce the same food! finding the new recipes for your fussy one to eat is what I'm constantly doing for my younger one! haha It fails all the time, but I like the experiment! haha thank you for sharing your parent's life!

HAHA it's funny how sometimes kids are the same all over the world. I grew up very far away from Japan, but I used to love blowing bubbles in my milk! Regarding how you worry whether your kids get enough nutrients or not without meat, there are ways to incorporate foods with the nutrients you would normally find in meat/fish. I'm not vegetarian/vegan either, but I do like to limit my meat/fish as well. There are lots of vegetables, fruits and grains which contain protein, iron, omega-3s, iodine etc. The ones that it will be harder for is vitamin D and B12, and you can maybe find fortified plant milks there for vitamin D. What I do for B12 is use nutritional yeast fortified with B12. Have you heard of it? It has a cheesy/nutty taste. :)
yesyes!! I see so many youtuber using it! I've never found one in local supermarket here though. but I found one at imported food store which was way too expensive ... so I had to put it back... Maybe I need to try that since my kids like anything with cheesy flavor!
@@MiwasJapaneseCooking Definitely! Just be sure it's one that is fortified with B12. It shouldn't be super expensive, it's quite light. Maybe it's worth ordering online? It's really good on popcorn too, with a bit of salt.
We... as in me...Americans need to eat more veggies. I am adapting a plant based Japanese diet. Eating veggies and soup in the morning.
