I remember that box style so well from Kenner here in the US, to this day I still miss Kenner as Hasbro will never come anywhere close to how great things were in the 70s and 80s.
To be honest, I was going to call it garbage when you were taking it out of the box but once it's fully assembled it does look incredibly nice. I Never imagined you could do really cool stuff with just cardboard and a minimum use of plastic so I'm really impressed.
Awesome video! I was thinking the Red Plastic made the playset somewhat reminiscent of The Black Hole, too! I would've loved to see Mego's Buck Rogers and Star Trek TMP figures on the set, too! : )
Being a Brit and a child of the 70s, plus a huge Star Wars fan… Seeing The Palitoy Logo on my Star Wars and Action Man toys was how I remember my childhood the best. I once got a Yoda Empire Strikes Back Figure with a Kenner logo on as a present and I remember thinking that this was very special but didn’t have the same visual impact as the Palitoy logo. I want to recard all my original first 12 figures with the Palitoy Logo.
My god your right about using the Mego Black Hole figures for the RED playset and you could knock out a good looking Black Hole scenes for the background paper like using the 70s coloring book style drawings for it or some golden storybook art they drew for Black Hole for ref.
i got to say when you pulled out the red base i though it looked garish and didnt think it would look good, but once its all together i think it looks better than the original. the bright base helps the darker coloured figures (and the black details on the storm troopers) stand out. also i think it would be great to see you create your own cardboard backdrops for this or even other vintage playsets like the land of the jawas playset so they could be use with other toylines. as always great videos
I don't like the raised circular stickered platform representing the shaft. The whole floor could be flat with a full width card or sticker, with just the control column & bridge raised up. Or raised sides with a sunken shaft pit.
The red one makes it look like they took a wrong turn into the night club level
“We had a loud party here now. Give us a few minutes to close it down. Large party, very dangerous.”
I don’t know why but I like the red variant better even though it’s not screen accurate it just makes everything pop better.

Thats nice the black hole idea is golden need some black hole play sets..
It really does need a Playset of its own.
‘Where are you taking this…thing?’
“Prisoner transfer from cell block 1138”
‘I wasn’t notified; I’ll have to clear it.’
Awesome video!

The black floor makes the cardboard designs pop more. Of course, I want both.
Great video. Love this set!
It's a nice set tbh. It has that 70s vibe to it especially the shade of red for the base. Btw awesome review mate 👍
I really like how the red looks on this playset too. It is really more eye catching when you look at it.
We didn’t get much Kenner playsets in the UK, only Palitoy. That’s what I tried to recreate.
Thanks for liking it.

I agree, The Black Hole figures look great with the red variant. 💪🤓

man that is so dope!!!!!
I’m thinking a blue-grey color would be a better variant. Great playset though!!!
Would love to see you attempt a Black Hole variant. 😊
Thanks for the review! It’s cool they’re making these.
Thanks for sharing, now have to have it!

as always great videos
Makes me think more about the new star. Wars films where ray and kylo had their fight with the supreme commander.
It’s a really awesome set, my black hole figures are now very excited they might get a new background at some point! 😜😎👍
85 POUNDS! Sheesh. For this cheap vacu-formed and cardboard toy. Even considering the retro market, and licensing costs, that's absolutely insane.
I don’t get the sense these are officially licensed…
The red pops! I like it!
A redesinged cardback would make it great. Do your magic Dave 💥💫💥
Are they ever going to remake a Palitoy Deathstar?
Thanks for sharing Dave 😎
You are the sticker surgeon!
This is amazing ❤❤👏👏
Nice. Wish I could afford it.
Cool!
Love this playset!
It looks good, but I'm not a fan of the materials used. I guess I lean more towards the Kenner designs, rather than the cheaper Palitoy versions.
Needs a grey variant
Nice touch with black hole set up. What about action force red shadows and baron iron blood🤪
Death Star in red alert mode. Nice! 👍
Toyrrific! playset, would love to own one.
Love the Black Hole set up. What’s going on with Maximilian’s arms though?
He's lost his chrome. And this one had nice mismatched plastic underneath.
@@toypolloi Extraordinary-mismatched materials? Maybe they secretly blended some of the Dr Reindhart plastic into him to make it movie-accurate 😂
Love it!
How do I get one in Canada?
Why not a star wars/ black hole crossover?
Looks to Force Awakens.
‘Let’s see what’s in the box’ Very little for £85.00! 😅
1138, nice
The red version is way better looking.
