@KONron LILwill He literally worded some things the word for word the same including that he stole his video format. He literally stole this video idea.
Bro you could tell me to buy stock in a tanking company and with your enthusiasm... I'd do it. If you're ever looking for a wall street job, hit me up, I got connections.
Bravo to the great video 👏🏽. A lot of people hating on the brand and not quite sure why. I’m a shoe collector but my true passion is GUCCI. What’s summer without a great horsebit loafer! Whether in a driver or in the 1953 line, it’s money well spent. Personally, I own over 30 pairs of just the horsebits. Over 100+ in all GUCCI shoes and I’ve never regretted it. More vids please!
$920 now in Nov. 2023 --- I will pick up a pair for Christmas. I remember seeing the ads in my Mom's T&C magazine and wanting them back in the '80s. And here I am, going to get them (black with gold horsebit) many decades later. Wearing my Cartier Santos while watching your fine video - thank you. I also love that they share the same birthyear as my beloved Rolex Submariner (I have the Starbucks).
My father has been in the shoes industry for over 30 years now, and out of being surrounded by superb footwear for a majority of my life, I can confidently say Crockett and Jones, Church’s, Salvatore Ferragamo, and even Magnanis make fabulous, qualitatively brilliant foot wear ! Gucci and LV both, while still being very highly respected brands are somehow falling short on durability . I know it’s not the first thing you look at when you spend 700-1000$s on shoes, but you still want them to be durable . They’re no longer the company’s of the past. Their leather isn’t the same. Their QC isn’t the same . You can physically feel a difference in quality over the past 10-15 years i’d say. Yes I’d buy a pair, but knowing fully well they won’t last me as long as any of my others 😃
Love Crockett & Jones. Their 'Harvard' penny loafer in shell cordovan is a great alternative to the Gucci horsebit. But it is true, English shoes just look and feel more dressy, while you could pull off Gucci loafers in shorts and without socks. Church's quality has gone downhill massively since they got bought out by Prada around the 2000s...
I own 2 pairs of 1953 horse bit penny loafers and let me tell you they arent that comfortable, they feel like walking in wooden planks, very expensive and yatch like wooden planks but still there are shoes more comfortable out there for a better price, that being said these shoes were a hand me down and they are about 10 years old and I still rock them with no signs of giving up. Love em
Theo and Harris that’s unfortunate, I actually couldn’t tell if that brown was dark in the website, thanks! What’s the deal with the Jordan leather? Is that just an updated model?
Well, it's a well-crafted shoe... of course Christian is going to go into the details and history in-depth. Even discussing luxury watches is "pretentious" (I assume that's why you're on this channel), but it's a good kind of pretentiousness when you're properly into the subject.
I personally would probably never go for the hyped shoes just due to the fact that the price is too much for what you get. But this is a great video either way, loved it
Stian Legernes totally understandable! There’s no doubt you can get a technically better shoe for $200 less (although I’ve got to say, Carmina is a bit of an anomaly). Thank you for watching!!!!
Gucci loafers are a massive waste of money, the quality of the calfskin alone makes it not worth the price. That being said, the horsebit loafer is imo the greatest contribution to fashion gucci has ever made, and even though they did it first, I have to say that many companies now, make a much more elegant, higher quality horsebit loafer than gucci nowadays.
Does Gucci provide any shoe care instructions? Or how have you taken care of them? Obviously, apart from a shoes tree, but do they have their own polish?
Hi Chris, in my opinion Carmina isn't that comfortable as Gucci 1953. I just got my 1953 model horsebit loafer, it is very comfortable, same level as my VASS oxford :), and if you want to buy a pair of horsebit loafer, Gucci seems like the only choice since it is original. Before finishing the purchase, I can't decide whether I should go for a pair of Baudoin&Lange or a Gucci 1953, but since Baudoin&Lange is glued and Gucci is using a refined version of Blake Stich, I choose the Gucci and never regret for the decesion. I hope you can do some reviews on Baudoin&Lange sagan loafer in the future, maybe compare it with Gucci? Cheers!
Great Video, Christian! I‘ve enjoyed it so much! 😍 I fell in love with these „vintage“ light brown (cognac) loafers at 2:15. Could you name me the exact model? That would be great! Thanks in advance. Have a great day! Max
Excellent video Christian, I’m surprised by the amount of hate you got, although many people have brought up the Diminishing lack of attention to quality which I would say is true, you had many other good points of why they are worth it. I adore the Gucci horsebit and am so glad to see a video about them from you. Please continue to make off topics. By far one of your best videos yet I’m production quality as well.
Great video Christian. I have a few pairs and like mine. These dress up like no other and, if you ever need to, will command a decent preowned price if you sell them on eBay. I bought and resold a pair of LV loafers a few years ago and actually made money. Anyone who goes down the “there’s better quality” road forgets to consider resale and the intangible feeling of owning an icon.
TheDutchSandwich not just that, but these will last a life time with proper care. In my mind, these are an investment, no different than a watch. Right when I got my first pair, I could see the huge difference in leather from other brands. Bottom line, if you can’t take care of your shoes you shouldn’t buy these. They will last a very long time.
I couldn't care less about Gucci loafers, but off topic, your way of telling a story really works for me. you could probably talk about coasters and lace tips and still keep my interest long enough to watch the entire video. good work!
These shoes are really durable and serviceable and will last you a very long time. I also like Salvatore Ferragamo loafers, mine still looks new after 5 years!
It's Gucci.. It's not worth anything. Their leather is shit, The craftsmanship is no longer there. You're not really paying for anything extraordinary. They don't even make their products anymore. Most of what they have are outsourced and just branded after the fact.
The high costs is only due to their exorbitant marketing budget and overhead costs. Anyone who buys ‘luxury’ goods these days for craftsmanship is an idiot, they’re just buying the lifestyle.
Wrong. Most if not all of their sneakers and fast fashion items are produced this way, but the horsebit loafer as well as some other classics are still being produced in the same italian workshop.
Normally I agree with your opinion Christian but here I have to disagree. While history is alluring and all, history in fashion brands is the least of my concern simply because they've to serve a purpose. In terms of quality yes, it's good but no where near Allen Edmonds And I'll argue with you all day long how Allen Edmonds and some other brands have a better history than Gucci. The price just doesn't match the quality of the shoes. Even my Johnston Murphy (another American brand with rich history) Are similar quality if not better and are wayyyy more affordable than whatever piece of fashion hype Gucci is selling me.
Aviral bajaj hey man!! Thanks for watching!! Great points! AE defintiely has better shoes all around than Gucci. Their park ave is a great example of that. And I agree that Gucci prices would be much fairer in the AE ballpark. But while AE’s history is on par with Gucci, it’s no where near as sexy. Not even close. And sexiness is value. As far as JM - sorry, couldn’t disagree more.
The quality of J&M is not comparable to these loafers. Allen Edmonds is by far closer, but, again, if you have a pair of these in hand you know the immediate difference. These are intended to last for a life time, quite a bargain if you ask me. Simply resole and proper shoe care.
M A My Allen Edmonds have lasted me more than 7 years and even my Johnston Murphys last me upwards of 5 years. I'm sorry but I don't see the value in utterly tacky, gaudy and overpriced Gucci loafers. You can find a pair of Allen Edmonds for around 200USD on sale. At that price point, Allen Edmonds shits on Gucci all day long. Even Santoni shits on Gucci. I follow a lot of fashion TH-camrs and absolutely none of them recommend Gucci shoes.
More of a checkerboard vans kinda guy. $690 bucks for gucci loafers makes about as much sense as the $800 gold plated watch they make with a bug on it. I liked some of the wilder ones they make until I saw L.a. douchebags wearing them.

This is a prime example where the law of diminishing returns applies. Is the Gucci brand worth enough for you or not? Great video. Love the editing and pace.
Love the off - topic but also its important to pair your watch with style. About the shoes i think they are good classic and timeless shoes but not for 600+ dollars. I would buy them vintage for better value and and quality. In person they don't look as good as Carmina not sure about comfort and how it wears.
I sure won't be trading in my Lucchese cowboy boots for a pair of these, but a cool vid for sure to get some understanding of a different style perspective
Perfect timing...in the market for new summer casuals. Douglas Fairbanks jr. was one classy and suave dude...if he wore them one should take notice. The question only remains is it a true value beyond its name

They may have been a quality product at one time, but are basically a fashion/hype product nowadays. For the same money I would buy something else. I adore my classic black Gucci Loafers.Yes, they were expensive, but not as expensive as they are now 3 years later. Worth it? Probably not to most. But these shoes have an X-factor you can't deny.
Theo, I noticed you and your pulchritudinous father drinking a leflaive. Has he ever tried any of the Montrachets? I have had Le Clavoillon on a number of occasions but never the top juice. Would really love to see more wine reviews / a best wine memories/ grail wine video from your father. ATB
This is so delightfully pretentious. Such wonderful delivery. Awesome construction, editing, and script. The oyster party b-roll with your family is perfect. That said, you and your dad need to iron your shirts. The placket needs to be crisp. (observation from several videos)
This guy's a few VHS tapes away from being Patrick Bateman.
William Strother Nailed. It.
LMAO
i have a slightly better haircut
so funny!
Let’s see Paul Allen’s loafers
You guys need to do another OFF TOPIC on shoes again. This episode was brilliant.
You got a talent for marketing..
No One ☝️ polite.
he stole a lot of things in this vid from gentlemens gazette

@KONron LILwill check their video and come back kid
Great episode and wonderful original insight and perspective - thanks for sharing!
I was a little hesitant going into this video but I was happily surprised by how good it was! Your channel never ceases to surprise me man!
Jason King thanks for having an open mind, man!!!!! Couldn’t be more grateful
I thoroughly enjoy your off topic vlogs. I love my 1953's and currently saving for another pair .
Bro you could tell me to buy stock in a tanking company and with your enthusiasm... I'd do it. If you're ever looking for a wall street job, hit me up, I got connections.
so easy to watch: the outdoors, the energy, love this channel
Why can I not find the light natural tan leather?! :(
What sunglasses are you wearing in this video Christian? They look great!

Where did you get the red button down, and the light green sweater from? Big fan of both.
What's the name of the music track?
Do you know the length of the vamp? its not written on their site.
Thanks
Nice video! What's the background music so Catchy and made the video vibe well!
What glasses are you wearing?
Are these true to size or do they run up .5 a size
I'm not interested in fashion, but this was quite enjoyable to watch
giorgio tsoukalos so glad, man!!
Hellllll yeah Anna and Christian, this Off-Topic just gets better and better 🙌
Were Did you buy that metal bracelet?
For me, Gucci is a brand for youtube-celebrities with too much money and no taste. "Class" for gangstas and hipsters.
thundermorphine ok boomer
It's like he's doing an impression of Ryan Phillippe in Cruel Intentions.
Ryan Phillippe and James Spader's Love Child.
Love these videos! Introducing me to a whole new world
Charles Field thanks for watching, brother!!!
This might be one of your best videos, regardless the topic (which I love). Good Job! Amazing editing btw.
Michael Taliakis thanks man!! Anna did an amazing job!!
Do they still have the light brown ones you have? I can only find brown and black on the website.
only black and dark brown right now! Mine were discontinued!
Theo and Harris that’s unfortunate, I actually couldn’t tell if that brown was dark in the website, thanks! What’s the deal with the Jordan leather? Is that just an updated model?
You really deserve way more subscribers. Amazing as always!
Where are those sunglasses from?
Love the off topic vids!
Ronald Woodman thank you Ronald!!!
What kind of glasses are you wearing?
Where can I find these? Same color 🤷
These videos are great. Great job
This was beautifully done Christian. Lovely rhetorical flourish, but not overdone.
Thank you very much!!!!
Great video. Loving this series!
Rakra thank you!!!!!
love the production of this video. very professional and captivating
Incredible review, Christian! I have always wanted to get a Gucci loafer, this review makes that decision that much easier.
Congrats mate, your video production is getting better every day.
Anybody able to identify those sunglasses?
They are Warby Parker
I can’t relate to watches but, the history and story telling reels me in. Glad I followed a random Reddit link
Well pardon us, Mr. Gucci Loafers.
Pretentious AF.
Chris d hey dude!! Sorry you didn’t like it.
Chris d , it`s only business , what did you expect...and the smart word is entrepreneur
What's pretentious about good style design and quality?
Theo and Harris Christian, you don’t have to explain anything to this guy. Great video. Bueno, H.
Well, it's a well-crafted shoe... of course Christian is going to go into the details and history in-depth. Even discussing luxury watches is "pretentious" (I assume that's why you're on this channel), but it's a good kind of pretentiousness when you're properly into the subject.
Awesome work on this video Christian! Definitely wanna pick up these eventually
Ralph Ventura thanks brother!!!
In love with those glasses, what kind are they?
At that price point Salvatore Ferragamo offers more

you convinced me that there were better shoes to buy. I like Trenton and Heath who actually take apart a shoe to show how well constructed it is.
Great Video, Christian! I‘ve enjoyed it so much! 😍
I fell in love with these „vintage“ light brown (cognac) loafers at 2:15.
Could you name me the exact model?

I just can't imagine anything better than a nice oxford, a comfortable pair of chinos, gucci loafers and a yg 1803 daydate. Like, omg.

It would be really cool if you did an off-topic on the sperry boating shoes. Love the content!
But it seems hard to find those classic Gucci loafers in the shoe range now under the new styling direction by the designer Alessandro
Awesome video, would like to see more like this.

Lol Quartz & 45mm and gotta guesstimate the time
I have to say, I love your videos and I'm really learning about the best assets to have and invest in. Peace and love to all....
Great episode. I think I will pick up a pair👍
Love them!!!!

my fav bit loafer is ferragamo that all i really wear. i like the gucci loafers also but i always go to my ferragamo most of the time
This is a good video and review. If you don’t want to watch it then why did you click on it?
I'd love to see you do some more videos on high quality dress and/or casual shoes, maybe through multiple price ranges? Budget minded through luxury
good job helping the modest man get his datejust, he finally has a decent watch.
alex t it was my pleasure!!!
Also if you could do a video on Dita sun glasses if possible?
Love the off - topic but also its important to pair your watch with style. About the shoes i think they are good classic and timeless shoes but not for 600+ dollars. Great ad!!!
An absolute essential to closing deals, trades, and fínánce in general.
no they are not.
kristian andani hahahahahhahahahaha hey man!! Thanks for watching! Care to explain? Would love an alternative opinion!!
Theo and Harris they are made cheap and sold expensive lmao
Probably never owned a pair
BIG BENIS those are Gucci watches
They are really really nice like really
Gucci shoes as low as $50 at BabaReplica
Nice video bro 👍
Perfect timing...in the market for new summer casuals. Douglas Fairbanks jr. was one classy and suave dude...if he wore them one should take notice. The question only remains is it a true value beyond its name

I was literally just thinking about getting this shoe for my wedding. Well you convinced me haha! Now the decision, brown or black?
John Benton buy the shoe, but do not wear this if you are getting married.
Ok haha xD What shoe or shoe company would you recommend? (Not super formal shoe, its not going be a tux wedding)
John Benton Oxford is a formal shoe for a wedding. A loafer is for casual wear, unless that’s what you going for.
John Benton White ;) Atleat make it super obnoxious. And the gold horsebit compliments white the best
Not a fan of the shoe...but the vid was great...your teams skill is growing!
Tal 3 thank you brother!!!
I just wear Gucci for the clout
Christian, please do a video on RM Williams boots before Gentlemen's Gazette beats you to the punch! (if you've ever heard of them)
Go to the Gucci outlet if you are ever in Italy.
There you'll buy at normal prices not overinflated high Street boutique prices.
ro63rto yeah???? Where is it??
Theo and Harris
Sorry, only just seen this. No notification from TH-cam.
Sent an email to the website info address.
Great video brother! You're a helluva storyteller ;)
thanks brother!!!!
I adore my classic black Gucci Loafers.Yes, they were expensive, but not as expensive as they are now 3 years later. Worth it? Probably not to most. But these shoes have an X-factor you can't deny.
X factor! Thats exactly it!!
Theo, I noticed you and your pulchritudinous father drinking a leflaive. Has he ever tried any of the Montrachets? I have had Le Clavoillon on a number of occasions but never the top juice. Would really love to see more wine reviews / a best wine memories/ grail wine video from your father.

Yes sir!! And no I havent tried (maybe he has - I'll ask!) And yes more wine videos coming!
“Selling it to Ghibli owners” lmao🤣
