"Somebody That I Used to Know" Rings so true. The older you get, the more people in your past that just become somebody that you used to know. It sad but it becomes so hard to maintain ties separated by distance & changing circumstances.
I think the reason millennials know more old songs is because we couldn’t choose the songs we wanted to listen so we had to listen to whatever is on. Kinda sucks at first but ultimately awesome as it expands our music knowledge. Most Gen Z would just change the song, millennials got to sit through it.
i agree. Millennials have this universal experience in music. We /had/ to know these songs. Gen Z are lucky they were able to curate their music so early in their life. But as a millennial, i have no regrets.
I wouldn't call this generation "sad"! It's just that tastes change, music changes. My dad thought my music taste (60s, 70s & early 80s) was trash, even tho I grew up with and LOVED his music from the 40s & 50s. My mom was classical music and I enjoy that too. Ode to Joy STILL brings tears to my eyes because it reminds me of her. She burned my Black Sabbath album tho. Lol I also enjoy some new music. Tastes change, music changes. I forget who I'm quoting but, "The only constant IS change"
I was born in 1982 and I remember Lifehouse being one of those bands featured in episodes of Smallville. I don't remember the last time I actually listened to current pop music for a month straight. I usually listen to random songs from random decades... anything from The Beatles to Beastie Boys to Taylor Swift to Cher and Weezer.

Fun fact, Ed Sheeran sang the background vocals for Bieber's Love Yourself, so it was funny when they reacted to Ed Sheeran for the "first time" even though they had already heard him in the previous song.
"We Belong Together" might've been a turning point for Mariah's career, but let's be honest. It really just introduced the new generation to her lowest power setting possible. I feel low-key embarrassed when people play that song and act like it's a masterpiece. Tell me you've never listened to 90s/00s Mariah without saying a gd word. 😭
Honestly this video makes me feel old because alot of these songs where songs that I grew up with. I Specifically remember boom boom pow because whenever me and my sister would go to the roller rink that song would always play
Fun fact but Breathe and Hanging by a Moment never actually hit number one but they were the biggest songs of 2000 and 2001. They both peaked at number two. Same with Levitating. Peaked at number two but was the biggest song of 2021.

You can see the MOMENT they became conscious of music, after leaving toddler level age. It's hilarious. They go from not hardly knowing anything, to remembering all the music their parents played.

I used to listen to the radio constantly during about 1.5-2hrs driving time to/from work each day, until I became permanently sick and eventually had to settle for a disabled-retirement in mid-2017. Not really knowing many of the songs here from 2018 onward, it really drives home to me just how much that daily radio exposure kept me current with newer music 😅 I pretty much know no Drake or Dua Lipa or Glass Animals, and "Blinding Lights" might be the only song by The Weeknd I'm familiar with 😶
That early 2000s R&B sound is somewhat nostalgic for me despite me being an infant when it peaked. My parents used to play that kind of music all the time. 2010s Happy dance pop/ EDM was good as well. 2018 was truly the last good year for music before that dumb addictive social media site ruined it all.

Exactly, it's not about the quality about songs that have gotten worse, it's the generations before that judge new music
Jaxon is consistently my favorite person in these videos, but I'm not sure why.
He's smart. He actually knows a wide variety of music.
probably because he is the only guy who is not overly extra or zesty af.
Because he's honest.
we also grew up w him. he used to be on the kids react
He's the only one that knows what's up.
Seeing Faith hill as the very first song from 2001 brought lots of memories back! You should have them react to Shania twain's songs!
8:05 man my thighs/glutes will never be as strong as they were in the “Low” days. Jeez the number of times a night this song played in the clubs.
I like the kid Jaxon vibe. He knows a lot of good ol songs. He did the same thing on old music. His mom raised him right
He really has more eclectic tastes than ANY of the kids on this channel. There were a couple videos with him and his mom that were hilarious.
