    My god....are you Armenians amazing or what? You're like the Italians of the caucuses & ex Soviet Union. Everything you do, eat or make is full of such simplicity. Your culture is so alive & so in touch with life itself. As an Italian, I am fascinated by your small race of people who have humbly influenced the world in such great ways. Except for the Iranians & the greeks, Im pretty sure everyone else in the area owes quite a bit of their respective "cultures" to you.

    At 6:00
    The composer: “I understand... he plays some untraditional things.”
    Meanwhile the dudukist basically only played traditional music

    In Japan there exists 2 versions of this instrument, the Hichiriki, and the O-hichiriki. The Hichiriki is a smaller version while an O-Hichiriki is the same as a regular Duduk/Balaban

      Sounds nothing like the duduk.

    • @aikogen5836
      @aikogen5836 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Smbat B. Hichirki are essentially a soprano Duduk, playing higher pitched notes, also with a lot more buzz. The Ohichiriki no longer exists though, so no one knows what it sounds like, but it's probably more like Korean Piri, which is very similar to Duduk on low notes, but with more buzz

      It sounds more like the Mey ( Turkish version of Duduk).

    I noticed that the one guy was playing along with the piano when the duduk was playing the traditional scale. What notes are in that scale? The non-chromatic one.

    @TheTrackformer Armenians have historically been distributed through out the mideast. The center of the nation was in eastern Anatolia, particularly around Lake Van. Mt. Ararat is considered to be a symbol of the people to the point that it is on, I believe, the seal of the current nation of Armenian.
    Armenian populations can be found in all the areas mentioned. The use of the duduk in these areas is not inconsistent with it being Armenian.

    Azeris give a chance and they will rewrite the history of the world under their own interests. Are not you ashamed to be an ancient Armenian instrument like yours? Bravo! Gevorg Dabaghian.

    thanks!

  • @fedayi1177
    @fedayi1177 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @gitily it is not true. the duduk is just a woodwind instrument like any other, in fact it can be beneficial to the lungs... i am personally acquainted with a lady whose doctor told her to learn duduk in order to expand and strengthen her pulmonary system.

  • @arechilasalvia8331

    yea armenian tuning is not chromatic tuning as the piano

  • @TruthSurge
    @TruthSurge 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought about buying one but from the looks of several vids, it would take too much lung for me.

      +TruthSurge not really. I have one.....you don't need to be a swimmer to do it!

      +Abdul Gemayyel Not according to every thumbnail I see at the right! hahah Their cheeks are puffed out like a bullfrog.

    • @gQuaresma07
      @gQuaresma07 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TruthSurge yeah, but that doesn't indicate the amount of air you are pushing out of your lungs....the bullfrog shows the effort you need to push the air into the reed and get the air all the way to the last hole of the instrument!
      actually, the 'bullfrog' feels quite 'massagy-ish' and relaxing ;)

    • @TruthSurge
      @TruthSurge 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Abdul Gemayyel I think I don't want saggy jowls in 10 years. :) I'm going to stick to guitar and keyboard! I have 2 duduk sample libraries anyway. Not as fun to play, I'm sure, but gets a decent result.

    • @gQuaresma07
      @gQuaresma07 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TruthSurge xaxaxaxaxaxaxa. that was actually funny!
      but yeah, I think you can get a duduk sound from a keyboard!

  • @TheTrackformer

    duduk is a east/middle east instrument. it is used in iran, armenia, turkey, irak, other arabic countrys... so it is not an armenian instrument.

    • @dr.spectre9697
      @dr.spectre9697 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That doesn't mean anything. The violin & viola are played all over Europe yet, they were created in Italy. Various epidemiological & archeological as well as historical studies have proven that not only was the duduk created & perfected in Armenia, but that the Armenians influenced the vast majority of the their neighbors with the exceptions being the greeks & the Iranians....not the other way around.
