    I definitely prefer this style of video. I like hearing your thoughts and insight rather than just background music

    Definitely like this format.
    Nice insight into why you chose what you did.
    Loved the practical advice about training around some pain and insight into how you call audibles in your training/how it changes the design of future blocks. I feel like those decisions are something elite lifters are just so much better at and find it really useful.

    Definitely prefer this style, very insightful. With the music I just end up zoning out.

    I've been doing glute bridge machine for glutes then go to weighted back extensions!! I do leg curl before.

    Great video, I was definitely feeling back extensions in my lower back more than my hamstrings so I'll give this style a shot next time I do them. I'm curious, where do you rate good mornings in with back extensions and SLDLs? I added some in on my squat day as a way to get some easy extra volume in and they felt great. But I am wondering if they aren't as useful for someone at your level just because of how heavy they would have to be.

    • @BrazosValleyStrength
      @BrazosValleyStrength  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think good mornings are great overall but rarely program them. I think something like RDLs or stiff legs target the same muscles but potentially more specific to the deadlifts with practicing the long arm hang.
      You could make the argument for that reason that good mornings might transfer to the squat a little more effectively but comfort always seems to get in the way of loading from a practical standpoint.
      So yea. If you like good mornings, do them. I just tend to use other options that seem to fit better within the context of the rest of the program.

    Interesting seeing you and others who have been in the game for a while come to the similar conclusion that accessories become key eventually to reducing global fatigue/pain. Fwiw, my pec issues largely dissipate when doing something like a cable press around which allows for free scapular movement.

    • @BrazosValleyStrength
      @BrazosValleyStrength  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Been doing those too. I think it’s likely a combination of all of these factors together just being able to train harder in a way that is generally more comfortable than being restricted to just what is available.

    I have a power rack and dumbbells at home, but also missed machines and other accessories. So I organize my training to go to planet fitness twice a week!

    • @BrazosValleyStrength
      @BrazosValleyStrength  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep! I’ve recommended a few clients go to planet fitness too. Super cheap and helps with these kind of things. Pretty easy to max out those stacks though.

    Hey David I was wondering if we just ran the power-building program you put out 6 weeks ago can we just go straight into this or should we deload? Thanks for all the help!

    • @BrazosValleyStrength
      @BrazosValleyStrength  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Either way works. I am flexible with my deload and they aren’t always planned. If you feel fine to get going, go for it.

      @@BrazosValleyStrength thanks for replying! I have one more general question if you could help. I’m not planning on peaking/competing in the near future, so if I’m strictly focused on off-season work what is the best thing to do? Just run my preferred 6 to 10 week hypertrophy/power building blocks until I’m ready to go for a peak again? Maybe a dumb question.

    • @BrazosValleyStrength
      @BrazosValleyStrength  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sort of a tough question to be specific about but I’m sure you’ve seen that my “hypertrophy” blocks and “peaking” blocks aren’t incredibly different. I tend to run a style that is in the middle year round and then shift in either direction in small ways based on timing.

      @@BrazosValleyStrength you are really considerate of others. I’ve seen tons of influencers holding a camera or with their cameramen roaming the gym and talking loudly as they were at home.
