We are so spoiled here in Alaska. I worked at a wilderness fishing lodge on Kodiak island, on our way out salmon and halibut fishing, we would drop off our tanner crab pots and after all day fishing, pick them up in the way back to the lodge and our chef had the water boiling and had fresh crab daily as well as halibut, salmon and rock fish fresh! So spoiled up here!😉
Nothing from Fairbanks? Spice It Up, The Silver Gulch, Bahn Thai, The Bakery, Wolf Run, are just a few fine restaurants here in Fairbanks, just off the top of my head. There are plenty more here. You should come up this way some time and sample some of our fine eating establishments here.
I love seeing Roadhouse on this list. I was there in the middle of September and it was a windy and rainy day. The reindeer chili was so so good. I need to hit that place up for breakfast sometime and stay in Talkeetna.
Alaska is my last state to go to. Will have to take my family there. I like eating so can’t wait to watch this. That’s one long drive to get there. Just love your family videos. Looks like you guys ate well!!! Not so sure about the Yak burger. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
If you come to Fairbanks try - 1. Lane's Tacos - only open 11am - 3pm a few days a week. Lane won best Taco in the United States. 3 tables or eat outdoors or to go. Everything home-made - including the tortillas. 2. Pita Place - only open in the summer. They make one thing. Flalfel- never even liked flalfel till Pita Place - it's amazing! - only open in the summer. Outdoor tables only. 3. Turtle Club - make a reservation. Famous for prime rib - but the ribs are awesome. You can only get those off the bar menu. 4. We are also the Thai Food capitol. Alaskans have more Thai restaurants per capita than any state and they're the real deal. Fairbanks has 24 Thai restaurants for a population of 32,000. My favorite - a hole in the wall - Nim's House of Thai. 5. Our home-made ice cream house is called Hot Licks - just go. Last but not least 6. The cookie Jar - My personal favorite - Meatloaf - his great-grandmothers recipe i believe. I leave off the brown gravy or get it on the side. Gravy can be salty here for some reason. And of course - cookies for miles.
West rib caribou burgers are suuuper good! I love living in Alaska and have eaten at most of the places you’ve mentioned here. You found the good ones!
I just got back from Fairbanks a few days ago and I'm so ready to go back, but next time I want to go to Anchorage. Most of this food looks so delicious!
this is awesome! I am sure restaurants in Alaska as a whole are few and far between but i am sure they have alot of unique ways of preparing their food! Great video!
It’s a tourist destination there are plenty of restaurants, the big places they missed are the glacier brew house, seven glaciers and especially trust me the marks bros is definitely without a doubt the best place to eat
Loved the countdown! We didn’t eat much when we were in Alaska, mostly got back on the cruise ship. Thanks for these recommendations! Love that a cat is their mayor!
I visited Lake Hood, Anchorage to get a float plane rating and found Alaskan food pretty average except the Superb Salmon and amazing Ice cream. Yes I visited in July.
This video is awesome & these foods are already on my list! Cute kiddos 😍 Hey locals....cruise is probably not gonna happen (July/Aug) so we’re flying in. Share your insight on where to stay, how & what to see in probably only 7 days. Just my husband & I. I don’t want to spend all my time driving & I want to have schedule so as not to waste time deciding on where to go & what to do. Wondering if staying somewhere in the middle of Alaska & then going either North or South from there depending on what we want to see if the best option for saving travel time. 🤷🏻♀️
It always has. It’s weird, but TH-cam doesn’t “suggest” it much. It’s all from search. I just hit something that gets searched with out a bunch of competition
I'm not if we'll ever make it to Alaska. Think it would be an amazing trip, but it's such a long one that I just don't know if we would have time. These foods look amazing!
Great list of Alaskan goodness! I have to agree with the Moosejaw pizza! Some of the BEST pizza I've EVER had! And we live in Chicago and even had pizza in Italy! LOL! 😂 Everything looked so great I think I gained weight just watching this! LOL! 😂 Gave this a HUGE Thumbs Up! Keep up the amazing work guys! Love it! 😉❤☮
So good! I wasn't exactly thrilled about pizza in Alaska, but I was proved wrong. It was fantastic. Hope you all had a great Christmas! You haven't been on the road as much, but I've still been enjoying your family's vlogs. Especially the craft projects.
Thank you so much for the kind comment Marcia. It really means a lot. Sadly, I think our #2 pick did not survive the pandemic. I hope Alaska gets a bit more of its tourism back. Stay connected my friend and let me know if you eat anywhere we Must go to. Heading to Fairbanks next.
@@DoodletheTravelBug I hadn't heard about #2 but Whittier is a bit "off the highway". It would be a shame though because I agree about their fish. It was delicious.
As an Alaskan, real simple, king crab, spotted prawns, Dungeness crab, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, copper river sockeye salmon,Moose’s tooth pizza, and the Double Musky restaurant in Girdwood! Simple!
@@DoodletheTravelBug Oh no sad. They are super nice and fun place to visit. Plus free. If you end up going, you get free spam if you wear a Spam shirt.

i enjoyed your video. thank you. how long did you guys stay there? is one month enough to see most tourist spots? what do you think? i am planning to travel there after corona.
It depends. You could spend a lifetime exploring or pick an area (Anchorage is a good jumping off point) and do 10-14 days. One Month would be Amazing!!! I hope you are that lucky my friend. Two weeks is the most time I can get, this place in my life!
yikes. Didn't make it to Fairbanks? Gotta try Big Daddy's BBQ, and Hot Licks ice cream, the reindeer sausage pocket at Alaska Coffee Roasting. I do miss me some Alaskan brews though. 49th is good, but you got to go to Hoodoo. Basically what I am saying is that you missed the northen most hot spot on the road system! Hit FBX when you go back!
I know, I know .... ugh. We can only make it there for two weeks at a time. But I'm working on a part two for next trip, where we fly into Fairbanks. Thanks for all the great tips. I really appreciate it.
