Great tips! I have an Aeropress but you’ve convinced me to get the permanent filter.
The mesh filter has been awesome! The convenience has been the biggest benefit for me, but I like the taste a bit more and get to save some money/waste on paper filters.

Absolutely love the Pakt coffee kit. I used to always travel with my aeropress, but brewing on the go felt like a clunky process especially when hot water sources weren’t readily available. The Pakt coffee kit streamlines the brewing process. I have everything I need in one kit. It’s definitely bulkier than the aeropress but I prioritize making space for it in my luggage because I just love it so much.
They’re definitely my two favorites! I still alternate between the two depending on the trip, love the all in one setup with Pakt though, having a kettle is excellent when I can spare the space.

I’m really looking forward to trying the Aeropress Go for car camping this summer, & for some overseas travel coming up.
My current favorite solution for camping & commute/office is the Presse mug by Bobble ($20 on Amzn), which provides a unique French press brew in a snap. Recently went on a climbing trip out at Vantage with a bunch of other PNW coffee aficionados, and my morning Joe was far superior to anyone else’s, with far simpler setup and cleaning. Plus the mug keeps the coffee hot for hours, and is about 85% leakproof in a bag, unless you invert/shake. Highly recommend!
Favorite coffee shop in Seattle (home) is Cafe Javasti, in Maple Leaf. 😍☕️

Thanks for the video Josh. Getting tired of lugging my Nespresso machine around with me 😂😂. All kidding aside these are all good options. I use a Stanley French press when I’m out camping.
Haha I’m sure that gets cumbersome! Never been a big French press user but Stanley stuff is great, no idea they made a French press!

You had me at “travel coffee“. I have two favourite coffee shops here in Canada. Tim Horton sand Second Cup. Although during the current world situation, I have developed a liking for Starbucks now.
A travel coffee kit would be nice when I am travelling in the Philippines. I usually take my ridged plastic over the cup coffee cone with paper filters and a small bag of ground Tim Horton dark roast coffee.
Many hotels and restaurants there only serve “three-in-one coffee”. Which is simply an over priced pack of instant coffee, powdered creamer, and sugar. Or, they have rice coffee or corn coffee. But what is the point of the last two -no caffeine.

We had a lot of Tim Horton’s in Michigan when I used to live there! I’ve seen those hotel 3 in 1 things before, definitely not for me with the cram and sugar haha. Thanks for the support on this one!
A week ago im in my grandpa house, in some mountain in indonesia. I spent 7 days there.
I bought some pre grinded coffee and a little foursquare paperfilter( disposable, one use ). But i rinse it after every brewing.
Its kinda work, and so cheap(yeA!). Peace!.

When I travel I use the Stanley stainless French press. It is small, slim and indestructible. I use theGourmia GDK368 Electric Collapsible Kettle to boil the water. I have a slim portable grinder too but most of the time I bring ground coffee. It holds 15 oz. I can use it as a cup to drink from also and it keeps it warm for a long time. It is not for hiking, it's on the heavier side but I always pack it in my suitcase. I use the Kettle to make tea in the afternoon. I bring tea bags along with a tiny container of ground ginger, ground tumeric and cinnamon. I also bring honey packets for the tea. I use the good earth sweet and spicy tea bag and a Yerba mate tea bag for each cup of tea. I like it strong.
I think I am going to buy this instead to boil water. Slim and only 300 watts. Perfect to use with my generator if the power goes out.

For sure! Been a while since I’ve had anything from them but it was great from what I remember. Stocked in a lot of grocery stores here in Portland too
I have a simple stainless steel pour over with no filter it is all just mesh. Sometimes you get a little thickness in the coffee and at the bottom maybe some straggling grounds but it is very simple. I had Counter Culture big trouble recently seemed to like that one. Can pre grind beans before you leave or bring a small electric grinder. I do it like this every morning with a kettle if I was away I would prob just heat the water in the microwave. Good idea of visiting different coffee shops to try something unique you won't get in your hometown.

I saw a clear jar being used to store coffee. Try to not use a clear jar to hold ground coffee or whole beans. Light, like heat, degrades the beans or grounds.
That was just a rocks glass I used to bring some beans into the studio for filming, no need to worry haha.

I must admit, though I'm a HUGE fan of Pakt, I truly never understood the Coffee Kit. It seems ridiculous - why would I pack so much stuff in my minimalist backpack, when in literally ANY airbnb in the world there's coffee options. And if worst comes to worst, I can buy coffee. But carrying a KETTLE with me?! Which room doesn't have a kettle nowadays?!
I totally get where your coming from. For me, I think it shines as an option for extended stays while traveling. If you know you’ll be somewhere for a few weeks without moving locations I’d much prefer a full setup instead of a keurig or something you you might find where you’re staying. I had to fly back to Michigan to stay with my Mom for a few weeks last year and she has no kettle or coffee maker, and lives in the country far from any coffee shops, so it was really great in that situation.
All of that being said, it’s quite large and heavy and not ideal for every trip. Definitely a niche product for a niche situation, but great for the right person or situation.
