- A 4-2-3-1 tactic is one of the most popular within Football Manager and within real-life football but everyone has their own variations. I set the amazing GYR the challenge of coming up with the best 4231 tactics out there and he has come back with this overpowered FM23 tactic.

I have always made content throughout my professional career, however, it has always been for someone else. In May 2020 I decided that it was time to create something for myself. Football Manager has always been a game that I have loved so wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the tips and tricks that I've learnt!

Having great success with Napoli with this tactic having tried others this is insane P7 W7 F22 A 2 top of the league after 18 games thank you so much
Just got promoted with pne in first championship season was predicted to finish 17th and broke the points record
Also got the longest unbeaten record
nice to see fm still haven’t nailed the realism
I have come to revisit this after using the tactic with in my Fulham save and I just realised that they are completely different 😅😅 I guess a lot of things change after 3 seasons.. It helped me win the uefa conference league though and FA cup
I've used this tactic as Everton and AC Milan. To put it simply it's not worked for me unfortunately. My team struggle with possession, it seems like it's far too open defensively, we're creating chances but seems like when I win it's always a goalfest (4-3, 3-2 etc.). Also, I noticed that with the new shitty ME it means that in away matches I just kept getting destroyed. I guess it's harder to just plug and play in FM23. Anyways didn't work for me so I'll try something else, doesn't mean it won't work for others. Just sharing my experiences 👍
any chance the INCREDIBLE HULK makes a return this year? was my go to formation last year and it was a nice change since it was narrow and wasnt using wings
I used the Swansalona tactic in fm22 with Roma. Will download this for my santos save in Fm23 later on this evening

I get too many yellow cards and suspensions what should i do ?
I usually go on holiday mode for the game but I get to see AM instructions before game on via training do you apply these or not ? I have set mine to everything during training and the game itself ?

so speaking about tactics i always get spanked or a have a very hard match against 4-4-2 formations using 2 lines of 4 and 2 strikers and no matter what i do its never a easy game at all
What happens if their isn’t an option for a clean slate? Is there another preset tactic you can use?
Just use Gegenpress my dude and you will be fine

Hi Chris, the green line means they have played together and built up a good understanding/partnership with each playing the roles they are in. Can be orange I think if not so good and dotted if they play badly together. Hope this helps

I would love for GYRFM to cover 3 at the back (532). I love that shape, love WBs that play as wingers but always struggle to find a good tactic. Cheers and keep up the good work ;)
Yes, I second this. Love the work GYRFM does (and the Videos Hood Gaming creates to showcase them) but a 532 with either a DM or AM would be lovely.

Entirely depends on the players in your squad. The one with the two DMs is slightly more solid. Whereas the one with the two CMs is very free flowing and plays some lovely football
What kind of football style is this tactic playing? Coz i wanna match the training as well? Tiki taka? Gegenpress?
Definitely more of a Gegenpress style mate
My Newcastle team gets slapped around using this ..
We get plenty of chances but the front 3 are just poor at finishing and defence leak to many goals

I know there were some changes but I decided not to buy 23 and I want to try this

I don't know is the honest answer as there have been alot of ME changes which is why I had to update Swansalona to get it to work on fm23nbut Hood has posted the video below for one that will 🙂

Which of the 4-2-3-1s do you think is better? With the CDMs or the CMs?
I used both in same season, with cdms way more solid but i couldnt make some upset, while with 2 cm i scored way more
I like both or I wouldn't release them and they are different. Loki more solid and this one is just fun for goals galore

Well this one has 2 CMs- Tuesdays has two CDMs
5 player roles and a few team instructions

Just starting my second season with Ajax so the timing is perfect. My first save is always Ajax, Swansalona last year was ridiculous

Why is this tactic so bad for me
No idea as everyone seems to be enjoying it but I am happy to look at the save if you want to send it on discord? Did you train it through pre season? is it the same shape you were playing before using it? How is the team tactical understanding and morale?

The problem I have with this game is that this all this op tactics is totally bs. Some tactics work with any team, like attributes of players doesn’t mean anything..
I hear what you’re saying but disagree slightly, especially in the case of GYR’s tactics. The man tried so hard to make sure these tactics truly are plug and play with literally anyone. Of course the players etc at the club have something to do with it as well, much like the manager.
However I’d back his tactics to work with a majority of teams
Every tactic on youtube have counter, counter press, higher tempo and higher pressing. This is bs. Only few teams can play like this. Same as many teams can’t play for example tikitaka football.. in fm you don’t need to look overall team attributes to know which style should be the best.. you can just go to youtube pick any op tactics and it will work
@@hbwdino But then that's where its up to you to tweak the tactic to suit the team you're playing as & players you have mate. I always take over training on 'tactical' during pre season as well to give the team the best chance to get used to the tactic, that helps alot.
