    You're right, I did add the cooling plate Big B. I originally bought the ESC as an upgrade for my M41 (hence the Traxxas connectors) but she was running so well with the stock Castle ESC that I didn't bother replacing.
    I added the cooling to the RCBB 175 because I was running it on my Barracuda (big heavy hull) with a 4092 SSS 1650kv and it was getting too hot. The cooling plate reduced ESC and cap temps by 20-25 degrees. Never had a problem with the 12AWG motor wires. Yes they got hot, but not beyond acceptable levels.
    As you know I'm now in the process of upgrading the Barracuda with the 5694 and ZTW 300 combo.
    Another great video bro. Be really interesting to see how the 175 performs alongside the 150 in your Delta Force. 😉

      Thanks Steve I just saw this comment. Lol. Man I ran the boat the past couple days with the to power 4060 and the 175 has been great. Temps were in the 130-140. Couldn't believe it. Even with the big prop I had on it. Thanks again the cooling plate is the ticket very good addition to the set up.

    Was thinking of Big B yesterday when i launched my Sonicwake way up into my neighbors lawn. Luckily no rocks on this Florida lake. Remembered when you ran one up in the grass, turned and back in the water. Incredible vid. 50 knots and no smoke!

    those 240 degree tems sound insane to me... in the beginning i had many boats catch fire and burn up esc's and batteries...I remember using 6s in my supervee from regular 4s setup.. I ran it back and forth in a canal for around 2 mins...but it was insanely fun... i did save the boat,but batteries were fried... i think esc actually survived also...Well after that every setup on all my boats was rock solid, maybe 95 degrees temps after a hard run... I was never into setting speed records like you,just love power and speed that boats can handle...to me 45-50 mph within 100 feet for a 24 '' boat is exciting enough...I don't think even the most powerful fast full size beasts can come close to scale power and speed of my boats... Thanks for sharing...

    I do have a turnigy 180 amp esc that has extras cap packs also like your 150 fly color... I paid over $100 for it 12 years ago..these fly colors seem to be excellent bang for the buck... if i ever need another bad ass esc i will pick one up for sure...

  • @Sixbillion1

    to my knowledge, a big factor in amp draw depends on what prop your using and how your boat it trimmed up. a wetter running boat with a large prop will draw more amps as opposed to the same boat, running drier with a smaller prop.

    I find it interesting that Flycolor (the OEM manufacturer) does not offer a 175 amp ESC. The most powerful ESC they offer is a 150 amp. I wonder if the RCBB ESC is legit, or they are exaggerating a bit to make more sales. Unfortunately a common practice with overseas RC electronics companies.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gotta figure though the fly color and the ose have 10g wire coming off the motor side the RCBB has 12g, with that being said, they had to have rebuilt the control for rcbb internally the speed control could be much different than the FC/OSE? Even the heat sink is different colors, fly color must build controls to different specks for different companies. Obviously lol. You would think FC would offer a 175 to there inventory here in the near future?

    • @georgegonzalez9281
      @georgegonzalez9281 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IRONCLADRC Yeah, but you would think that RCBB would have installed 10 or even 8 gage wire to handle that much power. I have a Hobbywing Max 6 ESC in my ARRMA Limitless. It's rated at 160 amps and it has 8 gauge battery and motor wires and includes 4 large built-in cap pacs, plus another 4 on the battery leads. I highly doubt that the RCBB ESC can handle 175 amps continuously, but I hope my assumption is incorrect for the sake of our hobby. Cheers Big "B"!

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd imagine it's about the same... only real difference with the 175 series vs single connection with series adapter you may encounter hotter wires due to the extra connector causing more resistance....

    Hey man
    Having an issue with my OSE 150. I got the program card with it to make it easier. My problem is when I plug in the esc, it emits a continuous beep beep beep sound. That indicates that it thinks my throttle is not at neutral which infact it is. I can fire it up in program mode but it doesn’t respond to my throttle inputs for programming. The whole time the steering servo works fine. If I fire it up with just the card on it the card just says FLY and doesn’t respond at all. What do you think? I think I have a bad esc.all batteries are charged and wires connected correctly
    TIA

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Start the calibration process over again, you've gotta hold full trigger while pluging in the fully charged battery in to the esc. One plugged in you'll hear a beep beep let go of the throttle to neutral position. (Make sure your throttle trims are at ZERO

    Hi Big B, There is a lot of guess work going on here mate . Wouldn't it be great to make up some sort of prop shaft dyno with a variable load to test with ? I'm trying to come up with a design. even a boat held in a tub of water with a cooling pump would be a start which is what I have been playing with, its all good fun. ps also doing some oscilloscope testing on weather cap packs actually do much. Cheers bud.

      @IRONCLADRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Sir your right. I really just did an external examination & personal experience I've been pondering a way to measure thrust/rpm on my boats as well. I've put my boat in a pool with a fishing scale attached to it while powered up. The problem with that is the fact that the boat comes out of the water while on the trigger not giving me an accurate measurement? There's gotta be a way or some type of device specifically made for this application . Thanks for the input

    • @georgegonzalez9281
      @georgegonzalez9281 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cap pacs are extremely useful in high power/high amp draw applications - just ask RC car hobbyists that do speed runs way above 100 mph. Cap pacs store electricity and provide a voltage buffer that reduces or eliminates voltage sag when the batteries are overly taxed momentarily. The result is a smoother, cooler running ESC. Installing cap pacs won't make your boat accelerate faster, but they can help attain higher speeds because your ESC won't cut out due to the batteries just not being able to cope with the high amp draw of a voltage spike. Of course there are limits as to the effectiveness of these little miracles; They won't help much if you run a prop that is way to big, or if your batteries have a low C rating, or you are running a motor with too high of a KV rating for the application. Please excuse my overly simplified response. If you want more info, type cap pacs in the TH-cam search bar. There are many good videos on this topic.

    Hey Big B this is all confusing to me can you give me your best suggestion on what ESC, motor, prop combo would be the best for my UL-19? The batteries I run are 2s 9000mAh 120C as well the same batteries in 3s so I can run 4s, 5s, or 6s. I really appreciate your time you give to the RC Boat community. "Boat Gang"

      Personally I really hate choosing brands for other people's setup but a 150-180a speed control should be good. Some guys like to run 36 series motors but i like my 40 series, sss 4074 in mine, I wish it were lower kv something like 1600kv hope this helps?
