This was the song closely associated with the legendary Pete Fountain. What he did on this song for the clarinet, you do as well with the piano. Truly a classic interpretation. Just great soulful stuff!
glad you like that...its because the ground shakes when I tap my foot...some people don't like the shaking so I'm trying to stop tapping my foot....but its hard to control it!
Do you have any tutorials on how to play these types of songs? They always remind me of the old saloons in the western movies. Can play pretty basic blues but nothing like this unfortunately but I like this type of music.
Bravo! Excellent interpretation of this lovely old hymn! Beautifully played, really enjoyed this. Any chance of a tutorial? Maybe just one explaining the left hand chord changes? Excellent! Thankyou for posting. Cheers! 👍👍
thanks! I've been playing this song for many years. Over time, I keep coming back to it, trying different riffs and ideas...When I learn a song, sometimes I can get it sounding good right away . sometimes, it takes a while, depends on the chord changes and how used to them I am. Since I know "Closer Walk" pretty well, a song that it is similar to that would be easier since I could take the same approach, use similar riffs and figures and stuff.
Boy, he really jazzed up that old hymn. Great!

You never cease to amaze me. What a great rendition of Just a Closer Walk with Thee!
Not just walking, but dancin'!
You are the best! Awessome
thank you!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I’m jealous! Want to play. This, God bless you
Спасибо, хорошая техника.
I love that the camera ever so slightly dances to the rhythm! Even it can't help catching the beat ^~^

@@EthanUslan never stop tapping the foot, it's the truest and most universal manifestation of the spirit of this music :D
@@chei24 Right on..No one plays, or taps their foot, like Ethan...
Much better with the shaking and tapping! Don't let heartless purists kill the life.
@@EthanUslan jelly never stopped tapping (they had to put a mattress chunk under his foot in the studio) so don’t stop it’s a sign of greatness
Dude your hands are huge. Look at those chords. Superb sir!
haha, actually they are rather medium-smallish, I guess you get good at stretching after playing for many years!
Its all about that stretch! Even the smallest hands can reach a 9th with practice. Most professional pianists can reach a 10th
The best version I've ever heard. Do I hear a touch of Fats Waller in there? lol
Thank you Ethan. Thank you for being you.
Drive! Gorgeous performance!
Totally awesome. I am a keyboard learning myself, and i find this very inspiring. I am glad you are posting these videos. Ethan.
Your playing is immaculate! Bravo!
You make me feel so much light! Thx my Lord
What a wizard!
Wow!
Very nicely done!!
Brilliant!

awesome! ✝️
Would love to see a video on how you study a piece like this from the first time you see the music on paper.
How long does that take, anyway?

Do you have sheets for this?
not yet, lots of notes in there, it would take me a while to write that all down! thanks for asking though
Is this transcribed and for sale?!
thanks for asking, but I'm sorry, no, I never got around to it, so many notes...
