Check your local requirements for the depth needed for your post.
Ex: if in a cold climate then you might need to bury it far deeper than in a warm climate.
Ex: your local building codes or permits require certain/specific depths or stabilization efforts (hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, etc.)

I ended up doing an 18" platform. With a 4x4" post. I cut the 4x4 post to 5' length and with the remaining post wood I cut 9.75" blocks and then 45° angles on both ends of the blocks and it worked out. Realistically anything 9.75" or less would work to create the angle pieces. You could even just do a 4" block and cut it in half diagonally for the braces.

I think the math in this video is off
5"x15" platform seems too short.
if you have 10.75" diag and we use a^2+b^2 = c^2 then sqrt((10.75^2)/2) = 7.6"
4"x4" is actually 3.5"
7.6" + 3.5 + 7.6 = 18.7
So the platform should be 5" x 18.7" not 5"x15"?

So I can put one on my front lawn up against the sidewalk? I realize that putting one at least somewhere on the street I live on would be perfect. Not only is there a bus stop for high school kids right across from my house, but I live on a busy road because there’s a school at the end of my street so it’s always busy and always get attention and foot traffic for not just kids going to school but all sorts of people.
