I just started squatting for the first time myself. Never realized how weak my legs were until then. Doesn't take as long as you think for the body to adapt and grow stronger. Salute
What I notice most across these different series is how Mike adjusts to training different people. He caters to each client's physical AND mental needs and learns with them. Well done man, keep up the good work!
If mike would ever wear low cut socks and shoes people would call him chicken legs too. No matter how much you can squat or how big your thighs are, people always think you skip leg day once you have high calf insertions.
Syco Fire no doubt man. I spent about 20 mins or so, I try to get in 2-3 workouts of calves before starting my main workout for the day... give it a shot and train calves before your workout and if you putting in the work and doing them often you’ll see results for sure!

@@Kristoferwitha_k legs are developed genetics don't really play that much part in gains but calves is different if genetically you have small calves there's only so much they can grow but there's many different leg workouts air squats, light squats high reps w/ or w/o Smith machine, hack squats, front squats that is less weight on your spine, lunges, box step ups, stair machine, leg press, leg raises I'm sure there's many more you have to overcome the injury smart but dont succumb to it leave your ego at the door and start off at small weight but don't skip leg day

Mike rashad beautiful my brother how you trained our young brothers on basic form and posture on squats. I love it your the best my brother rashad keep up the good work.
please continue this series, would be so useful. I personally find training legs 100x harder than any other day and realllllly dislike doing squats or leg press
Most of the time I feel like people are called chicken legs because of their skinny calves and not because of the thighs. Squats and other leg exercises train mostly quads and hamstring and no matter how much u squat if u have naturally skinny calves people are still gonna think that u skip leg day.
Mike , I'm 6"8 275 athletic and 47 years old... born with "tight hams" the Dr. told moms.. need squat help bruh ! lol... much love I see your business savvy!!! Proud of you !
I'm no pro but here's a tip! Start biking as much as possible. I commute to work 90% of the time on my "muscle powered motorcycle" (15-20miles a day) and that alone made calves, quads, hams, and glutes explode! I also train legs twice a week on top of that. Do this for 3 months, plus eat and I guarantee insane results. Oh and while biking try to avoid the low gears! Resistance ALL DAY
This isn’t proper form at all. Check out Mark Rippitoe. He ACTUALLY knows his stuff. Hasn’t been to prison and hasn’t had to run states away, and is an internationally known strength coach.
Hey I used to be one of those guys with the shirt on at the pool and believe me work hard and stay dedicated/ discipline one day that shirt will come off and stay off
Brilliant routine and I feel it in my core section. I appreciate what you do to help create the alpha man, thorough physically and mentally that's life 💪💪
I went from barely being able to half-squat 135 ten times to doing full “ass to the grass” squats with 335 lbs which is my current max. I’m shooting for 405 (4 plates a side) within the next two moths. I LOVE doing squats because most guys who do them never push hard and their eyes bug out when they see someone doing full squats with serious weight! Guys, don’t neglect doing those heavy squats all the way to the floor!!!
@@supr4rce It basically means you squat every other day however when you do this you squat your 12 rep max times 20. You load up the weight 5 pounds every time you do this. It's just one set but it's hard. If you will try this you must tell yourself that when you unrack the bar that you will NOT quit. Good luck.
I have 3 question for anyone with answers. 1. Is it best to pair legs with cardio? and 2. Does leg strength training increase running speed? (Like if I increase my max squat will I run faster) and 3. Does squatting work calves as well?
I would love leg day if I could get my squat form correct. You have to work your core and hip flexors as most have issues in at least one of those areas.
The problem with most people when it comes to legs is that they have a "Leg Day" once a week in the first place, squats should be done minimum 3 days a week if your trying to maximum strength and hypertrophy
I honestly tried but at 6'3 and past knee issues my knees can't take squats leg presses, or even lunges. I'm limited to reverse lunges and leg extensions
If you don't like to train legs do do them by yourself. I do my upper body in the gym and I do work out classes with group training to get in my class and it helps.!
LISTEN: Your Neck, Biceps (relaxed), and Calves are supposed to be the same size...I mean if proportions mean anything to you. This is difference between the truly aesthetically genetically-gifted and the rest of us. Very few people work their legs seriously (let alone calves) and even fewer dedicate movements to isolate neck muscles. So even though you may see definite improvements in your physique, if it ain't proportionate top-to-bottom, people are just looking at you like ... whatever.
@GhOsTx Personally, the music was distracting me, maybe because I hate rap sounding music with the same percussion sounds. For instruction vids, music is unnecessary.
I used ti train upper body only but once you got beast legs and people stop to watch you squat, you like legs more than upper body. A 405+ squat is going to get people watching
I always did legs cus it was a must at school playing sports and all. It wasn't my favorite to workout, to be honest hated it, but now it's my favorite body part to workout, so hats off to these guys who are willing to try to work on it. And one more thing girls like guys with nice legs 😉.
The problem with youtube fitness influencers is most of them don't know shit about actual lifting and are just in tremendous shape because of gear. At 9:57 Mike is talking about breathing into your chest before you descend in the squat. Any real coach knows that the queue to ensure intra-abdominal pressure is breath into your diaphragm and then brace your core to stabilize your trunk. Yes, these types of youtubers are entertaining but almost all of them give bullshit advice that wont work for the vast majority of people.
Why you hating on little weights? "Any weight done a sufficient number of times is difficult" . Please stop propagating gym bro mentality, just hit depth and proper form, with frequency the strength will come. Also, you dont discuss any anterior pelvic tilt or ankle mobility issues that can affect squat depth.
Mike seems like a good dude. Humble brother. Peace fam!
